This time, I visited a ramen shop specializing in tsukemen that I had always wanted to go to since I saw it on Ramen Walker TV, called Komugi to Nikko no Ki. Please note that they are closed on Sundays, and open for lunch only from Monday to Saturday from 11:00 to 16:00. In the evening, they operate as a crepe shop as well. Interestingly, this shop used to belong to the Setagaya Group, but then closed down. After a hiatus, it reopened under the Gashara Group, although the details are unclear. The nearest station is Shinjuku-gyoemmae on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line. Shinjuku-gyoemmae is a fierce battleground for ramen shops, with renowned places like Kin no Kura Furugi and Chin Soba Sawada. When you exit from Exit 2, turn left and then left again at the first corner. Keep going straight and turn left at the fifth corner, and you'll find the shop just before the park! It's a 3-5 minute walk. I arrived a bit early around 10:40 and waited in the nearby park until they opened at 11:00. There was no line when I arrived. The shop has a L-shaped counter, and you can choose your seat. Both staff members were women, including the owner, which is quite rare and refreshing from a female perspective. The background music was J-POP, reminiscent of Wink. I ordered their recommended dish, the Abura-Shoga Shoyu, which comes with flat noodles similar to Somen and a salad on top, giving it a healthy touch. The salad is dressed and can be eaten as is. The Abura-Shoga Shoyu was amazing, with pork belly in the dipping sauce, making it satisfying even for men. It was incredibly delicious. The soup is so good that I believe it would taste amazing even with regular udon noodles. The tsukemen had a warmth reminiscent of home-cooked meals. I definitely want to come back and have the same dish again! (Please note that this is just my personal opinion.)

- Restaurant Name: Wheat and Meat Peach Tree
- Location: Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station
- Budget: ¥1000-¥1999
- Ordered Menu Items:
- Backfat Ginger Shoyu Ramen
- Tail Rice Bowl
On a holiday around 2 PM, after watching a movie, I felt like taking a leisurely walk and stumbled upon this place in the Gyoen area. It's located near the famous Kyoto shop "Daiichi Asahi," although the access may not be the best, the place was quite crowded even before the peak hours. It used to be affiliated with "Setagaya" shop. One of the well-known shops run by the ramen shop "Hirugao," specializing in salt ramen. Currently, it is operated by the popular and delicious Ikaros group (the shop in Shibuya is famous). The shop closed in April 2017 but reopened in February 2019. The change in ownership seems to have brought a fresh taste, but they continue to offer popular and delicious dishes.
I waited outside for about 15 minutes before purchasing a meal ticket with the ticket system. It took about 25 minutes from entering the shop to serving the food. The place was full, so this waiting time is normal. In fact, it might even be considered fast. The interior has 11 counter seats. The dishes I ordered are as mentioned above.
- Backfat Ginger Shoyu Ramen:
The first thing you notice is the vibrant salad served with it, which is visually appealing. The meticulous cooking by the female owner is excellent. The flat noodles are like Nagoya's kishimen, slightly soft but with a good soup-carrying ability. The noodles themselves are delicious and serve their purpose well. Be cautious as the portion is around 300g, so it can be a bit challenging towards the end. The soup has a slightly sweet and savory taste. The thinly sliced pork pieces are plentiful and juicy, and despite the abundance of ginger, it doesn't overpower the dish. Instead, it adds a refreshing touch to the sweet and savory soup, making it easy to eat. The base is a seafood-based shoyu broth, similar to Musashiya udon.
- Tail Rice Bowl:
Delicious! It's marinated in a sweet sauce. I was quite full, so it was a bit tough to finish, but it was still very tasty and a good rice bowl option. Highly recommended.
Overall, I recommend this place. It offers a refreshing yet flavorful ramen with a good balance of meat fat, reminiscent of udon dipping noodles. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

Visited around 3 PM on a weekday with no wait. Ordered their signature dish, tsukemen. The flavor of ginger is prominent, giving it a strong aroma rather than just a refreshing taste. The noodles are flat and have a strong wheat flavor. They have a great texture and blend well with the dipping sauce. The staff's service was also impressive. Definitely want to go back.

I visited for the first time at 11:30 on Wednesday. There were 3 customers at the counter and no line. I had the most standard ramen with back fat, ginger, and soy sauce. The noodles were flat and chewy, similar to pasta. The soup had plenty of grated ginger and you had to mix it yourself. Before melting, there wasn't much back fat flavor and the soy sauce was quite salty. When you melt the grated ginger, there is a strong ginger flavor. Personally, I found the ginger to be too strong, so I would like it if they could serve the grated ginger separately so you can add as much as you like.

Ordered the hot ginger soy sauce dipping noodles. The noodles were thick and flat, similar to udon or kishimen. The soup was thick and satisfying, perfect for when you're in the mood for something hearty. The ginger warms you up from the inside. I couldn't stop sweating halfway through... Next time, I might try the rich soy sauce version. Despite the high ratings, I never have to wait long to get a seat. It might be better to go slightly after the lunch rush. Personally, I could do without the salad that comes on top of the noodles...

I chose the ginger back fat dipping noodles, which is a menu that looks great on Instagram. The presentation by the female owner is beautiful and appetizing. The taste was very satisfying, although the soup at the end was a bit strong, made with soba broth.

Strolling leisurely from Sancho-me, I was looking for a place to eat. It was already almost 3 PM. Many lunch break shops were closed, but as I walked, I found Momonoki-san (^^). What should I buy from the ticket machine? The most popular one, backfat ginger soy dipping noodles? No, I think I'll go for the seasonal limited edition "Shiso kelp mixed with plum ginger dipping noodles"! It's a bit pricey at 1,200 yen, but after a 10-minute wait, the dish arrived with instructions on how to eat it. First, I tried the noodles alone as instructed. The flavor of plum or shiso, it's more like the seasoning called Yukari clinging to the noodles, enhancing the taste of the wheat noodles and making it delicious^o^ Next, I placed the plum ginger on the noodles with a ladle and enjoyed it. The plum flavor is quite strong, making it healthy and enjoyable♪ Then, I dissolved the plum ginger in the soup and sipped it. The moderate sourness of the plum is irresistible. This flat noodles also go well with it♬ This dish is really well thought out... Finally, after finishing the noodles, I drank the soup. It's quite sour, isn't it (^^) The finishing touch was written like ochazuke, but I chose to have just the soup without the rice and finished it♪ It's unusual to have soba water for the regular noodles to dilute it, isn't it♫ I will definitely visit again soon.

A ramen shop in the Gumshara series. As the name "Back Fat Ginger" suggests, the soup is topped with plenty of back fat, with a sharp ginger flavor, and lots of boiled pork. The noodles are flat egg noodles that allow the soup to cling well. Despite the fact that the dipping soup is soba broth, the taste is like a combination of meat Nanban soba and dipping noodles. It's popular among nearby office workers due to its generous portion size.

Kokumaro salt ramen for 950 yen was my first time trying salt ramen, and it was delicious! The portion size was sufficient and I left feeling very satisfied. If you plan to drink all the soup, this amount is just right. Next time, I will challenge myself with the shoyu ramen with pork fat and ginger. It's a shame they only serve it at night, I could have eaten more!

A tsukemen shop located in Shinjuku Gyoen. I went around 1 pm on Saturday and had to wait for about 5 minutes as the seats were full. The taste was average, neither good nor bad. The staff's customer service was bright and good. The interior of the shop was spacious and clean.

[Overview] A safe and stable dipping noodle shop "Mugi to Niku Momonoki" run by a woman from a female perspective. The regular menu item "Chashu ginger soy sauce dipping noodles" is very delicious, so I have been a repeat customer, but this time I tried the limited-time menu "Shiso-kombu salad with Ume ginger dipping noodles"!

☆ Shiso-kombu salad with Ume ginger dipping noodles 1,200 yen
The noodles with Ume and purple shiso kneaded in are delicious on their own, and when dipped in the dipping sauce, it becomes a refreshing summer-like dipping noodle. And when you dissolve the Ume ginger included in the set in the dipping sauce, it evolves into an irresistible bowl for Ume lovers. Thank you for the meal!

I had the Shiso Konbu Wakame Gari Tsukemen for 1200 yen. I originally planned to go to a different restaurant but ended up here for a recovery meal. It was my first visit, and I chose the limited edition Ume Shoga because it looked delicious. It had a strong plum flavor, which I enjoyed as I like plums. They even lent me an umbrella during a sudden heavy rain, which was incredibly helpful.

Be careful! The regular size of the tsukemen is huge... I ordered the back fat ginger soy sauce tsukemen and the ginger curry tail rice bowl. The flavors were delicious, but I didn't really need the tail in the curry. The tsukemen was very large, so it would have been nice if they had asked about the portion size when ordering or had it listed on the ticket machine. It was a shame that I couldn't finish both dishes due to the large portions.

- I ordered the Kokumaro salt ramen.
- I asked for a small amount of noodles, but the portion was actually quite large!
- The dipping sauce had a hint of yuzu in it.
- The dipping sauce was full of ingredients like pork belly, fried tofu, and green onions, making it very delicious!
- The noodles were flat and had a slippery texture rather than a chewy one.

From Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station to Chororinpa, there is a tsukemen restaurant. Just so you know, they don't serve ramen. I recommend ordering the "Back Fat Ginger Tsukemen" for 1050 yen (tax included). The bowl of noodles comes with a variety of fresh vegetables such as lettuce, bell peppers, mizuna, purple cabbage, etc. The dipping sauce is light and has a strong ginger flavor. When you dip the noodles in the sauce, you'll notice the smooth and slippery texture. It's a great choice for a hot day. If you prefer rich and heavy tsukemen, this might not be satisfying enough for you. Enjoy!

I entered the restaurant just before 4:00 PM on Saturday for a late lunch. I purchased a ticket from the ticket machine for the pork back fat ginger soy sauce ramen and ginger curry rice bowl. The counter inside was busy even at this time, but luckily there was one seat available, so I was able to sit down without waiting. After about 10 minutes, my order was served. The noodles were flat noodles similar to Italian fettuccine, with colorful vegetables on top and dressing mixed in. The broth had thinly sliced pork, back fat, and a lot of ginger on top, and despite being filling, it was refreshing and easy to eat. The ginger curry rice bowl was surprisingly spicy and authentic in flavor. The restaurant was very clean, with tissues provided under the counter at each table, showing attention to detail. It was a ramen shop that I would like to visit again soon.

- A popular tsukemen restaurant known for its black exterior and distinctive noodles.
- The interior consists only of a counter, and all staff members are female.
- The Ume Shoga tsukemen series sold in the summer includes flat noodles with shiso mixed in, which are delicious even with just the regular noodles.
- This year, the Ballotine with plum and shiso wrapped in chicken is a new topping that is not too strong in flavor, resulting in an overall elegant finish.
- It is also delicious to eat the plum and ginger with the noodles, so adding a hot spring egg as a topping and mixing it like maze-soba is also recommended.

On a humid Saturday in June, I had lunch with my daughter at the popular tsukemen restaurant "Komugi to Niku Momonoki" near Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station. They had just released their summer limited menu, the "Ume Shoga Tsukemen," so I ordered that. My daughter, who prefers lighter options, chose the "Koku Maro Shio Tsukemen" instead of the recommended special. The staff advised that the portions were generous, so my daughter ordered a small portion, while I, being able to eat a bit more, ordered a regular size. However, even the small portion was a bit too much for her, and my regular size felt more like a large size due to the height of the bowl. I regret not ordering the small size! As for the taste, the "Koku Maro Shio Tsukemen" was richer than a typical salt ramen, but dipping the noodles in the broth made it less heavy and quite delicious. The "Ume Shoga Tsukemen" had a refreshing taste with plum-flavored noodles and plenty of plum ginger paste. Despite the generous portion, I managed to finish it all because it was so light and tasty. The restaurant was impressively clean, and the staff were friendly, making me want to visit again. I wish they had a lunch set with smaller portions of noodles or rice dishes, as I might struggle with even half the regular portion. ★ For more detailed reviews and menu information, check out my blog.

I had the popular ginger back fat dipping noodles around 12:30 on a regular day with no wait. The noodles were plentiful, but the staff asked if I wanted them reduced, which I declined and enjoyed the dish. The ginger had a strong punch and was incredibly delicious. The limited-time plum flavor also looked tasty, so I want to go back again.

I entered the restaurant around 2pm on a weekday and thankfully didn't have to wait in line. I ordered the pork belly ginger soy sauce ramen. The staff suggested that the regular size might be too much for a woman, so I ordered a smaller portion, which turned out to be just right for me. The attention to detail in the ingredients like the ginger, meat, and salad was impressive, and I felt that the price was justified for the quality. It was very delicious, and now I want to try other flavors next time. ☺︎
