I spent the whole morning at the Kyoto office on Thursday, and for lunch, I ordered tenzaru soba at "Daikoku Takoyakushi-ten" with Yasupaisen. It was super delicious! #tenzaru soba #tempura #Daikoku #Shijo-Karasuma #Shijo-Karasuma gourmet #Shijo-Karasuma lunch #Yonkara lunch #Kyoto #Kyoto gourmet #Kyoto lunch #Kyoto tenzaru soba

When I saw the set of soba and tempura rice bowl being served, I was surprised by how much tempura sauce there was in the bowl. However, it was delicious. The sauce was light yet flavorful, with a subtle dashi taste. It was a refined and satisfying taste, typical of Kyoto. The soba was also delicious, made by a kind lady. Thank you very much. I will definitely visit again.

Located on the north side of Karasuyama-dori in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto❗ Between Sanjo and Shijo on Karasuyama-dori, there is a place called "Marutake, Ebisu Ni, Oshioike. Anesan Rokkaku Takonishiki, Shiaya❗♪" Yes, it's all about octopus in Kyoto❗ This octopus refers to Takoyakushi-dori. Be careful not to miss it while passing by❗ Pay attention to the brown noren curtain with the word "Daikoku" on it. I usually order udon here. Despite it being lunchtime, the quick service and reasonable prices make this place a great find. Whether you want a rice bowl or udon, it's up to your preference. It's not particularly delicious, but it's fast and affordable. It's conveniently located on Takoyakushi-dori in the textile wholesaler district of Muromachi. There are no octopus dishes here (*^-^) (lol)❣️ This is a restaurant I recommend visiting in the area.

I went to Daikoku Takoyakushi store for a solo lunch on April 25th. Due to the self-restraint period, the restaurant was not crowded, so I decided to visit for the first time. There were two groups of construction workers inside. It seemed like a place that would normally be bustling with salarymen. I ordered the parent and child rice bowl and warm soba set. Both dishes felt like something I could make at home. The soba didn't seem to have any particular special touch, it was similar to something you would find at a supermarket. I left the restaurant without any expectations for my next visit. Thank you.

After purchasing bread nearby, I casually visited this restaurant. It was still early, so there was only one other customer. I ordered the curry set meal for 800 yen, and when asked if I wanted soba or udon, I chose soba. While waiting for the food to arrive, I observed the interior of the restaurant. It had a long counter in the back and only table seating. Some tables were set up on a stage-like area, creating a semi-private space. The restaurant was very quiet with no background music. As for the food, the curry set meal came with curry soba. The noodles were soft and thin, and the curry sauce had a gentle flavor. The toppings included finely sliced sweet and spicy fried tofu and chopped green onions. The rice was served in a medium-sized bowl and was cooked slightly firm. The mild curry sauce made it hard to eat, but I managed with some wasabi furikake that I found on the table. There were also pickles, including simple pickled daikon radish and chopped cucumber in soy sauce. Overall, the restaurant's value for money was not great, especially when factoring in the cost of using the nearby coin parking. It seemed like a place frequented by locals.

It's hot again today. Really hot. My appetite is decreasing. On days like this, I want to cool down with something cold to eat. I thought of having zaru soba. I remembered a popular soba restaurant, so I decided to try it out - Daikoku. I arrived after 1 pm, so there were no other customers. I had the "zaru soba set" for 800 yen. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The soba lacked flavor and the texture was a bit soft. The way it was chilled with water was too mild for such a hot day. The soba dipping sauce, with grated radish, green onions, and wasabi, was too sweet and seemed store-bought. The green onions were slightly dried out and lacked freshness. The soba broth, which I always look forward to at the end, was basically just hot water. The set only came with mixed rice, which had thinly sliced fried tofu, carrots, and shiitake mushrooms, but they had almost no presence. It felt like just seasoned rice. For 800 yen, I didn't feel satisfied with the meal. It was a disappointing lunch, and I hope that if they love soba and run a soba restaurant, they should do more research and improve their dishes.

Feeling under the weather with a cold, I stumbled upon this place for the first time. Inside, there are different levels like a skip-floor layout. The fox udon set costs around 700 yen. It includes chopped fox udon, side rice, a little bit of dried cut bonito, a tiny bit of pickled green pepper and finely sliced yellow daikon radish. The udon broth is cloudy, indicating poorly boiled noodles. The noodles are round and limp, lacking in flavor. The fox udon portion is meager, with a small amount of green onions. The shichimi and sansho pepper are of good quality. The side rice lacks ingredients and is bland. There are ashtrays around, and many regulars from the neighborhood frequent the place. They order their usual beer and fish cake, followed by their usual curry soba. I'm not a fan of these regulars. This place serves street-style noodles with a long history, but I won't be returning.
