In May of the 5th year of Reiwa, on a Sunday at 8:00 PM, I visited Kyoto for one night. Due to a late arrival, many shops were closed or full, but I took a chance and entered a shop where I was welcomed by a lady in a kimono. The interior had a calm atmosphere with a counter seat in the shape of the letter "字". I was lucky to find a seat despite being late. I ordered the eel rolled omelette for 1,320 yen, which was fluffy and delicious. The eel roll paired well with the grated daikon radish with sansho pepper. I also ordered the boiled eel for 1,540 yen, which was tender and served with plum sauce. The shop had a good selection of local whiskey and sake. The owner and chef could speak fluent English, and there were also foreign customers. I would like to try other items on the menu at this enjoyable shop.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. It is located on a street lined with casual eateries, and it has a casual vibe as well. There wasn't much information available, so I was unsure what to expect. However, the photos of the dishes on Google Maps looked beautiful, and the customer service over the phone was very polite, so I decided to give it a try for a regular meal. In summary:
- Just right for casual dining
- Not specifically for regular customers
- A wide variety of à la carte dishes at night, with portion sizes suitable for one person (a bit small for sharing)
- Besides the main menu, there were also about 20 daily recommendations
- Many dishes were served in lovely plates
- The service was very friendly
- They even accommodated my special request
- The restaurant had a clean atmosphere
Overall, while it may not be for a special occasion, it is a good choice for when you want to enjoy a proper meal outside.

◆Conger eel tempura: With nagaimo, cucumber, and red chili pepper
◆Salt-steamed duck breast
◆Chicken dish
◆Chicken porridge
- Drinks: 1 glass of white wine, 2 glasses of Bakuren, 1 glass of Yoshinogawa Junmai

The lunch was delicious, so I wanted to try going at night as well and stopped by. Each dish showed the chef's sense of presentation and seasoning. The only downside was the lack of dynamic cooking entertainment from the chef. I believe having both the hostess and the chef standing behind the counter together would make it a bustling restaurant.

I happened to stop by this restaurant while strolling around Kawaramachi. It just opened in September! I tried the tempura and egg rice bowl, but they also had other options like spicy tuna rice bowl and various fish dishes that all looked delicious. The tempura and egg rice bowl had a rich flavor, and the tempura was crispy and very tasty.
