Hello. This is Keinsuke. Today, I would like to introduce a yakiniku restaurant in Gion called "Gyusho Shin". I had a luxurious yakiniku experience in Gion after a long time. The renovated machiya space has a calm atmosphere typical of Kyoto. On the first floor, there is a long counter seat where you can see the chefs cooking the meat right in front of you. The second floor, surprisingly spacious, has many private rooms lined up. I recommend the second floor for important business meetings or couples who want privacy! This time, my partner and I visited and sat at the counter seats on the first floor. Looking around, I saw a mix of young couples, foreign tourists, and other customers. We had a relaxing time amidst the bustling atmosphere. There are several courses available, but since it was our first visit, we tried the recommended "Shimizu Course". Also, you can order a la carte items. We visited for the first time with a couple of friends, totaling four people. We opted for the cheapest 10,000 yen course. We started with corn soup, followed by three kinds of yukhoe. There was no explanation, so we weren't sure what was rare. For the BBQ, we had salted items, tongue, tripe, and maybe inside thigh? Also marinated items like ribeye, harami, and I forgot the rest. We also ordered a single serving of grilled shabu-shabu, but maybe we didn't need to. It was a beautiful restaurant.

The Omi beef torotaku melted in the mouth as soon as it was eaten, and the flavor of the meat was luxurious. Placing it on a lemon and squeezing it to eat also added to the luxuriousness. Additionally, the Wagyu beef yakiniku charcoal-grilled and Kama rice cooked in clay pot were exceptional, with a high-quality taste that allowed the flavor of the beef to be directly felt. The grilled shabu sirloin had a soft texture and an elegant flavor. The dish of Hitsu-mabushi cooked in clay pot by oneself, called "Hitsu-mabushi with tea pickles," was unique. When eaten, the aroma of tea spread gently, and the texture of the rice was exquisite. Lastly, the brulee of Japan's most high-quality egg, "Sujitamago," was served. Just a 2-minute walk from Gion Shijo Station, I arrived at a place I was craving: Omi beef lean meat yakiniku. It's more like thinly sliced medium rare meat, almost like tataki. Today's meat was lean inner thigh meat. It was moist, tender, and bursting with meaty flavor. The yakiniku set comes with Omi beef lean meat, Oita prefecture's dragon egg, clear soup, pickles, and cold potage. The Gold Rush cold potage was delicious. The set includes 250g of rice and around 100g of meat (depending on the cut). I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied. The relaxing jazz music in the restaurant allowed me to fully focus on the flavors. The clear soup was light yet flavorful with a deep umami taste. If you're visiting Kyoto, I highly recommend coming here for lunch. I confidently recommend it. I'm curious about their dinner menu too. Omi beef lean meat yakiniku set for ¥2,800.

Thursday 19:00 reservation. I had a great meal at a riverside dining experience before, so I came to this affiliated restaurant. The Gion district scenery is really nice. By the way, there seems to be another course restaurant in the same group! The interior (first floor) has only a counter. The calming wooden decor and lighting are very relaxing. There were 2-3 groups of foreign customers, whether it was a coincidence or a regular occurrence, I'm not sure. The second floor apparently has private rooms. (I'm not sure if it's only private rooms on the second floor) The staff on the first floor cook right in front of you. There are artisans and kimono-clad ladies. The ladies are super cute, friendly, and have a nice way of chatting with you. I like that. Originally a butcher, the artisan here is also very friendly and shares his knowledge and passion for meat in a way that doesn't overwhelm you. I like that. The use of female cattle instead of castrated or male cattle is a point of pride. Female cattle have a less strong taste in their fat, so even in cuts with a lot of marbling, they are surprisingly light and delicious! The thick Negi-tan (scallion tongue) with the first Negi-dare (scallion sauce) gives you a sense of how tender the meat is. The "Yatsudai Yubei" rice cooked in a clay pot, a specialty from a long-established rice shop in Kyoto, pairs very well with the meat. The blended rice has firm grains and is incredibly delicious. It's the kind of rice you can eat on its own. I was pleasantly surprised by the fresh ground pepper. At first glance, it looks like regular pepper, but it's not spicy or harsh, it's a subtly salty pepper that can be a great snack with alcohol. It's not crunchy, it melts in your mouth. I tried this kind of pepper for the first time. The entertainment factor of lighting the charcoal in front of you, the attention to detail in the meat and rice, everything was excellent. Despite being a high-end restaurant, the relaxed atmosphere was very comforting, and the service was outstanding no matter who served you. It was a fantastic yakiniku restaurant that lives up to the name of Gion!

Yakiniku Gyusho Shin: Just a 2-minute walk from Gion Shijo Station on the Keihan Electric Railway, this place is perfect for special occasions like dates, entertaining guests, or anniversaries. They cook the yakiniku for you, so you can just enjoy eating! They cook it perfectly to your liking, which is really satisfying! We tried the Omi beef Yukhoe with salt sauce for 2,200 yen, thick-cut tongue charcoal-grilled for 3,300 yen, sukiyaki sirloin for 2,728 yen, black wagyu harami for 2,728 yen, Omi beef sushi for 1,100 yen, Omi beef and sea urchin tartare for 3,850 yen, and on weekends and holidays, the sea urchin and ikura Yukhoe rice bowl for 4,730 yen and the premium prime tongue salt-grilled rice bowl for 4,400 yen. Everything was so delicious... especially recommended are the Yukhoe rice bowl and salt sauce Yukhoe! The Yukhoe is just so tasty! It's a bit pricey, but definitely worth it since they cook it for you and it's so good! Also, during weekends and holidays, the Yukhoe rice bowl alone is 2,420 yen, which is more affordable. The atmosphere was sophisticated and nice. The yukhoe was very delicious. I also recommend the thick-cut tongue. The lemon was also really good quality and impressed me! The tail soup was warm and tasty. Overall, the prices are on the higher side, but the quality of the meat is good. I felt a bit rushed when they suddenly mentioned last order, I wished I could have taken more time to decide.

The rating numbers can sometimes be all over the place, even though it's usually either generally bad or generally good. The wine selection is interesting and inexpensive but tasty. The meat is also delicious. However, the staff don't make eye contact, which is a bit strange. It feels like you can't approach them, especially since it's right in the middle of Gion...feels like you're being watched.

The counter seats are a style where you grill over charcoal in a hearth. I didn't like the rolled leaf vegetables because they had egoma leaves in them. The aroma of the meat gets overshadowed. The namul is lightly seasoned. The dipping sauce is also light and refreshing. We tried the upper harami, marushin, and sukiyaki sirloin (eaten with trendy dragon eggs and grated yam). The atmosphere is nice, I guess.

The atmosphere was very nice, and even those who are not used to going to this type of restaurant can feel comfortable. The staff were friendly and engaging, making the dining experience enjoyable. There is a charcoal grill at the counter, and they explain how to cook at first before letting you do it yourself. They use only female Omi beef, which is not too fatty and easy to eat. I was very satisfied with the taste and atmosphere. I would definitely want to visit this place again when I go to Kyoto.

The yukhoe don was recommended to me, so I decided to try it out. It was really amazing! The meat was sweet and fresh, and the egg yolk was beautiful and had a sophisticated taste. Although I felt like the portion was a bit small because I like to eat a lot, the taste was excellent. Overall, I would definitely come back to this highly recommended restaurant.

This was my first visit! The private room was smaller than I had imagined from the exterior and photos. It didn't feel very luxurious... The kimchi, namul, and meat were delicious ❤️ However, the small private room with a hearth made my face feel hot, even though it was cold outside. It might be uncomfortable eating here in the summer while sweating. It would be better if the room was a bit larger... But the food was delicious and satisfying! Thank you ❤️

I have used the two existing branch stores of Omi beef's famous restaurant many times before. The taste is always impeccable. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also charming, based on a traditional Kyoto townhouse. There is a nostalgic feel without the unpleasant smell of a new building. The slightly dim lighting is nice. I wanted to enjoy a leisurely conversation, so this time I chose a private room. There was only one charcoal placed in the hearth, which was intriguing. First, I tried the classic kimchi and namul. They were neatly arranged and colorful, and delicious. The yukhoe I ordered was just as delicious as the ones at the other branch stores. The color of the egg was very rich. As preparation for grilling, the staff lit the charcoal. I realized that the single charcoal placed at the beginning was the base. I ordered the thinly sliced beef tongue by the piece. Even one piece was enough for me because it was large. The style of pressing the grilled tongue onto a lemon half that had been cut in half was luxurious, even though I only had one piece. The one with green onions sandwiched in it was also available at a restaurant in Pontocho. The thick meat really brings out the goodness of the charcoal fire. It was cooked thoroughly and had a nice plumpness to it. The highlight was the lean meat. The way the lean meat was marbled was exquisite. It was sweet but not heavy. The cold noodles and bibimbap looked incredibly delicious in the photos, but I was almost full from the meat this time. I embraced the restaurant's concept head-on. It's a wonderful place that makes you want to bring various people, both men and women.
