This time, the restaurant is "Menya Saion" located in Gotanda. It is a ramen shop that has been awarded the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand, where you can enjoy ramen and sake pairings. The location is about a 3-minute walk from the west exit of Gotanda Station. The entrance is a bit hard to find with its glass exterior. The interior is narrow, with mostly counter seats, giving it a cafe-bar-like atmosphere. I ordered the "Special & Sake Pairing" option, choosing the special dried fish oil ramen. The sake paired with it was the "Nakataya Junmai Ginjo Peach Label," a fruity sake that paired well with the dried fish aroma, making it easy to drink. I enjoyed the sake while watching a live video of Mr. Children. After a while, the dried fish oil ramen arrived. Let's dig in. Review: - Special & Sake Pairing 1600 yen (Dried fish oil ramen) I mixed it all up and took a bite... Oh, it's light! This is delicious! It's a lightly seasoned dried fish oil ramen. It extravagantly brings out the umami and aroma, with the richness of the lard adding a great touch without relying too much on salt, giving it a junky feel typical of oil ramen. I really like this refined type of oil ramen. The noodles are thick, chewy, and slightly firm. Although Saion is known for its beautiful thin noodles, the slightly thicker noodles work better for the oil ramen. The chashu, both chicken and pork, are chewy and complement the dried fish aroma well. Overall, this oil ramen is flawless. The special comes with a wonton soup. It's a light soy sauce soup with toppings like leeks, Mitsuba, and shiso leaves, like a slightly junky clear soup. In other words, it's the best. I finished off the dried fish aroma and sake with the soup. It was the best ramen and sake experience. Thank you for the meal. Epilogue: I've now tried all the default items at Saion, but the salt ramen seems to have a good affinity with sake. It's been a while since I had the soy sauce ramen, and I haven't paired it with sake, so maybe next time I'll try the soy sauce ramen. They also have limited-time menu items and a pretty diverse sake lineup, making it a place worth revisiting. It's great for those who live nearby. I'll definitely be back. Thank you for the wonderful meal. It was very delicious.

It was delicious! The special soy sauce was so nice that I couldn't quite understand the taste, but the simmered egg was soft and tasty. The soup was also refreshing. I went around 12:50 on a weekday lunchtime, and there was only one person at the counter, so it was empty. Since there were many reviews about lining up, maybe weekday lunchtime is a hidden gem? Thank you for the meal.

Menya Ayane in Gotanda - "Special Salt" My son's request was to go to Ayane-san! Arrived at 11:50 and lined up with 3 people. Eating ramen while watching Mr. Children's live footage is the best for me. The hot salt soup is covered with a film of chicken oil, light yet flavorful - delicious! The whole wheat thin noodles pair perfectly with the soup, slurping it all up. The pork and chicken rare chashu are both tender and tasty. The wonton with shiso and ginger is just my taste. The thick menma and seasoned egg are also incredibly delicious! One of the unique features here is the sake pairing, which I'd love to try someday. My son was satisfied too, so that's great. Thank you for the meal! #noodlelover #ramenlover #ramenstagram #ramen #tokyo #MenyaAyane #Ayane #sign #MrChildrenfan #specialsalt #Gotanda #BibGourmand #Michelin

I finally went to eat the ramen I had been curious about for a long time! I arrived at 12:00 on Saturday and was able to be seated at 12:50. I almost gave up while waiting, but I was so happy when I finally got to sit down haha. I thought I would just get a regular soy sauce ramen because I can't eat a lot, but as I kept looking at the photos on the food review site while waiting, I decided to go for the special soy sauce ramen in the end! It cost 1,300 yen and they only accept cash for payment, so make sure to bring cash with you. I thought it would be terrible if you waited in line for so long and couldn't eat because you didn't have cash haha. The ramen was served just 3 minutes after being seated! The restaurant had four counter seats and two tables for four people. Even though I was alone, I was guided to a table seat. The service was very polite, so I thought they might be more focused on customers enjoying their meals slowly rather than high turnover rate. Thanks to that, I was able to thoroughly enjoy the ramen ^_^ The appearance was beautiful and the soup had a rich taste, it was very delicious. I was prepared for the restaurant not having good air conditioning based on reviews, but the air conditioning was actually working haha. While waiting in line outside, make sure to protect yourself from sunburn if you are concerned about it! Also, it seems a bit tough in the summer, so I recommend going when it's cooler.

I visited for lunch on a regular day. I arrived at the restaurant around 11:45 AM, and there were about 5 people ahead of me in line. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I was able to enter the restaurant. I ordered the special dried fish oil ramen (with wonton soup). The noodles were thick and firm, with a strong flavor of dried fish powder. On top, there were egg yolks, finely chopped soft char siu, easy-to-eat onions with mild spiciness, and green onions. You could also add dried fish vinegar, which made it even more delicious. The wonton soup had the same base as the soy sauce ramen I had tried on a previous visit, but this time the amount of soup was less, allowing me to taste the flavors of green onions and leeks more. As a side note, both the oil ramen and wonton soup were on the salty side, so I got quite thirsty.

The first choice ramen shop was closed, so I went to the second option. There were about 3 groups waiting around 7 pm on a weekday, but I got in after a 15-minute wait. I ordered the special salt and soy sauce ramen to compare them. The salt one had a unique taste that grew on me when eaten with the noodles! Personally, I prefer the soy sauce one though. Both flavors seemed familiar, not particularly outstanding, and at 1,300 yen per bowl, it's not very cost-effective. I don't think I'll be visiting again.

I visited the restaurant around 8:00 PM on a weekday. There were about two people waiting outside, but I was able to get in after about 5 minutes. I had the Special Salt Ramen for 1300 yen. It is on the expensive side, but it was very delicious. I would like to try the sake pairing set next time.

I usually line up, but today there are relatively few people, so I join the queue. The shop is calm and the atmosphere is not bad. The staff are friendly and work efficiently. When the soup is brought out and I take a sip, it has a unique taste. I pause for a moment, but when I eat it with the noodles, it's delicious. I finish it quickly. While I do think it's tasty, I didn't feel the need to endure the usual long line just to eat it again! Next time, I want to try the special soy sauce.

Good morning. Yesterday, I went to Gotanda Station for work. In the morning, we were talking about how cool it was, but when I finished my meeting and came out, it was hot. On such a hot day, I felt like having ramen. Gotanda Station surprisingly has a lot of ramen shops. I looked around, but decided to go to the top-ranked one on Tabelog. I ordered the salt ramen with extra noodles, but I found the noodles to be a bit different, maybe made from whole wheat flour? They were chewy and had a unique texture, but the toppings were lacking. The large portion cost 1,550 yen, which didn't seem worth it. The chicken, pork chashu, and seasoned egg were decent, but nothing special. I wonder why this place is so highly rated. I heard that they offer cheap appetizers and allow customers to bring their own alcohol in the evening, maybe that's the main draw? It's strange. The restaurant only had one air conditioner and it was really hot inside. I quickly finished my meal and left. I don't think I'll be visiting again.

I had the special soy sauce ramen at "Menya Saion (sign)" located on the 1st floor of Grace Gotanda in Nishi-Gotanda 2-18-3, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo (costing 1300 yen). The soup is a clear, light broth. The special ramen comes with extra toppings such as seasoned egg, extra chashu, and extra wonton. The chashu comes in two types, chicken and pork. Menya Saion opened in October 2020 and is located on the first floor of an apartment building. It seems to be popular as it was crowded when I visited. After being called by a female staff member, I entered the restaurant. I waited for about 30 minutes. In addition to counter seats, there are also table seats, and they also serve sake. The menu includes soy sauce and salt ramen for 930 yen, wonton soy sauce and salt ramen for 1130 yen, special soy sauce and salt ramen for 1300 yen, dried fish oil soba for 930 yen, wonton dried fish oil soba for 1130 yen, special dried fish oil soba for 1300 yen, special & sake pairing for 1750 yen, mixed noodles for 350 yen, seared chashu rice bowl for 400 yen, rice for 150 yen, and limited items ranging from 1000 to 2000 yen. There were no condiments on the table. The noodles in the special soy sauce ramen were from Mikawa-ya Seimen, which were delicious low-hydration straight noodles with a firm texture. The soup is made from Ooyama chicken and Nagoya Cochin, resulting in a clean chicken broth that balances well with the soy sauce. I enjoyed eating it with the two types of chashu, wonton, and seasoned egg. I would like to try the salt ramen or sake next time if I have the chance. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

A ramen shop located about a 5-minute walk from JR Gotanda Station. I arrived around 6:30 pm on a weekday evening and found the place to be full, so I waited outside by the stand sign before finally getting a seat at the counter. This time, I ordered the special oil sardine ramen, which comes with a side of wonton soup. The special oil sardine ramen features flat, medium-thick curly noodles with toppings such as two types of chashu, pork fat, egg yolk, finely chopped onions, seaweed, and fish powder. Everything is mixed well before eating. The taste is mild yet flavorful, with a hint of sardine flavor that becomes stronger when you add the sardine vinegar provided for flavor enhancement. The wonton soup consists of soy sauce broth with wontons, seasoned egg, and green onions. With both the oil sardine ramen and wonton soup, I was quite satisfied. It was also nice to dip the oil sardine noodles into the wonton soup for a different taste. Overall, I was very pleased with my meal. Special Oil Sardine Ramen (with Wonton Soup) 1300 yen

Ordered the special soy sauce ramen and seared chashu rice bowl, both were extremely delicious. The soup chashu and wonton were also tasty, and the option for sake pairing in the evening is intriguing. The classic choice seems to be the salt ramen, so I'll definitely be back next time. #GotandaLunch #Ramen #Michelin #GotandaRamen #Mischievous #MenyaSaion

Special soy sauce ramen for 1300 yen. The noodles are thin and straight, with a firm bite similar to al dente pasta. The soup is clear and clean-tasting, but a bit too clean and lacking in depth. The toppings include pork and chicken breast meat, both cooked at low temperature. They are not particularly tender or flavorful. The bamboo shoots are quite soft, and the wonton skins are slightly tough. The egg is lightly seasoned and soft-boiled, with finely chopped green onions and a little bit of mitsuba. Overall, not bad, but there are probably many other places that serve tastier ramen in this style.

Tokyo Metro Asakusa Line Gotanda Station A2 Exit, 2 minutes walk from the station. Opening hours: 11:00-14:30 / 18:00-21:30. Closed irregularly. Recommended to check for temporary closures. Queue: Arrived around 10:50 AM, 2 customers in line after purchasing tickets. Inside the restaurant: 1 owner, 2 assistants, 5 counter seats, 2 tables for 4 people each, total of 18 seats. Self-service water, ticket system for ordering. Order: "Special Soy Sauce Ramen" for 1300 yen. Overall impression: Busy with job hunting and ramen activities, yukio visited this place looking for a standard delicious soy sauce ramen. The restaurant, Ayane, located in Gotanda, has been on my radar for a while. The owner is involved in various businesses, including cafes, and has been featured on Tsujita's channel talking about various things. The restaurant is also known for its sake selection, popular during evening hours. Ramen with sake, how does that work? Also, selected for the 2022 Michelin Guide, so expectations were high. The name "sign" is taken from the famous song by Mr.Children, as the owner is a big fan of the band. Arriving 10 minutes before opening, got the waiting ticket and two customers arrived shortly after. The restaurant opened on time, and I bought the ticket and sat at the counter. The interior was very clean, with a large monitor playing live music, though not the song "sign". Various one-liter bottles of sake were displayed at the counter, showing their commitment to quality. I drink alcohol every day, but I'm not a big fan of sake. After a 10-minute wait, the ramen was served. The wontons, two types of chashu, and menma had a classic look. The brown soup had a good body, and the chicken-based soup was well complemented by the seasoning. The soup had a good chicken flavor, and the seasoning added a nice touch. The noodles, which seemed to have changed from Mikawaya Seimen to Kanou Seimen, were slightly yellow and straight, providing a satisfying chewiness. However, the noodles didn't pick up the soup as much when eaten in small amounts. The chicken chashu was tender and silky, offering a stable flavor. The wontons had a subtle ginger flavor, but the filling was a bit lacking. The flavored egg was perfectly runny, but a piece of the white was missing, affecting the appearance. The menma was crunchy and served as a good side dish. The balance of the ramen was excellent, allowing for a smooth eating experience. Finished everything! Delicious! A stable and tasty chicken-based soy sauce ramen. This kind of flavor is becoming more common these days, but I still like it. The staff provided excellent service, even greeting me as I left, which was a nice touch. The cost-performance ratio was standard. Gotanda has other ramen shops like Mukann's second store and Handmade Seimen Hachimitsu, so I'm looking forward to trying those. Ayane, you were delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I visited this restaurant for lunch because it's close to my workplace. I had been curious about it for a while and finally got the chance to visit. The entrance to the store has a heavy door that you have to open, so I was unsure if it was open, but it was! I ordered the special soy sauce ramen. The most surprising thing was how delicious the chashu was. The chicken chashu was moist and tender, I could eat as many slices as I wanted. The pork chashu was also full of flavor. The soup was so delicious that I ended up drinking it all. The noodles were thin and slid down easily. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived at the restaurant on a weekday night after 8 pm, lined up for about 20-30 minutes, and ordered the special soy sauce ramen. The clear soy sauce broth is rich in chicken flavor. The taste is strong but not overwhelming, making it a delicious soup. The noodles are thin and firm. In addition to the tasty broth, the wonton with a smooth texture, the firm and elastic pork chashu, the refreshing chicken chashu, the gooey and flavorful half-boiled egg, and the fragrant and crispy bamboo shoots were all really delicious. I definitely want to try other menu items next time.

The salt soup is quite good. Gotanda "Menya Saion" (sign) - Special Salt Ramen ¥1,300. The clear and beautiful salt soup base has a pure taste of "salt" that you can really feel the minerals in. The thin noodles with wheat bran have a nice aroma and mix well with the soup. The two types of chashu, pork and chicken, are very tender. The wonton is refreshing with a strong aroma and tastes delicious on its own. The menma has a good firm texture and is tasty. The seasoned egg is soft and has a nice balance of saltiness. It was a blissful moment dipping it into the salt soup. The restaurant has a stylish and clean atmosphere, and it's a wonderful ramen shop. It seems like they like Mr. Children because they play Mr. Children live performances on the monitor in the store. The sign of the shop name is also cool. I'll try the soy sauce ramen next time. Arrived at 12:30 on Monday with no wait time. As it was my first visit, I followed my rule of selecting the top left item on the vending machine, which led me to choose the special soy sauce ramen for 1,300 yen. It came with two slices of pork and chicken each, two wontons, and a seasoned boiled egg on top. The taste was light and the chicken broth seemed to stand out. The noodles were thin but had a good texture. The restaurant is called "Sain" but pronounced as "Sign", and inside, as expected, there were live performances of Mr. Children playing on display.

I casually entered a ramen shop called "Ayane" with the BGM playing Mr. Children. I ordered the special salt ramen, which had a clear golden soup with a shining salt sauce on top. The noodles were thin noodles with whole wheat, cooked firm, and had a nice chewy texture. The toppings included flavorful pork chashu, chicken chashu, two types of smooth wontons, seasoned egg, and thick menma with green onions. The soup was delicious, so I finished by pouring the special salt soup over rice to make a delicious ochazuke. Ah, it was so good! Thank you for the blissful moment. I clapped my hands and said, "Thank you for the meal." Ebisu closing.

At 14:30, we arrived at Menya Saion in Gotanda. This interesting restaurant pairs ramen with sake. They offer 2 types of sake pairings for soy sauce, salt, and oil ramen, and you can choose one. This time, we tried the Shimane Prefecture's Okuizumo Maewata-ya Junmai Ginjo, with yeast No. 1701 from the Test Brewing Association. The interior of the restaurant plays music by Mr. Children. Saion sign, that's what it means.

I tried the limited edition cold dried fish salt ramen soup for August. The flavor is strong and cold, perfect for dipping noodles without losing its taste. It might be a little spicy. The crunchy vegetables and shiso flowers add a nice touch. Instead of chashu and egg, there are bonito and scallops on top, which are also delicious. The promotion is ending soon, so be sure to give it a try.
