Today, I had some errands in Shinkyogoku, so I was looking for a place nearby where I could have lunch. Since it's the end of the year, both famous and not-so-famous restaurants had long lines. In times like these, chain restaurants that tourists might not be interested in are a good bet. I decided to try Yakiniku Like for a solo yakiniku meal. I thought the quality would be decent given the low price, but the meat, rice, kimchi, and soup were all quite good. If this is the quality you get for this price, I would definitely come back again.

I'm staying in Kyoto. Since my hotel is near Shijo Kawaramachi, I decided to try Yakiniku Like right behind the hotel. The interior of the restaurant is very clean and new. For about 750 yen, I had a meal that was like Sukiyaki and filled me up! I also got my favorite kimchi and raw egg, and it was delicious to eat the grilled meat on rice. You also adjust the heat by yourself. Taking a picture of the finished set was also self-service. It's perfect for when you want to casually eat yakiniku.

I visited this restaurant for the first time because they offer all-you-can-eat rice and kimchi. I ordered the W Kalbi set for 1,310 yen, and it was served in a generous portion. Orders are placed using a touchscreen, and when the dish is ready, you are notified on the touchscreen. You have to go to the counter to pick up your food, and the payment is also done at the self-checkout. It's a casual and easy-going system. The rich and flavorful soy sauce-based marinade goes well with the rice, but I felt like the amount of meat was insufficient. I didn't want to order more, so I continued eating with kimchi and furikake (which was mediocre). I ended up leaving a little bit of food uneaten. If you order a regular portion, the amount of meat should be adequate. As for the quality of the meat, the thick cuts of Kalbi showed efforts to make it tender with some incisions. Considering the price, it was decent.

We decided to try the popular "Yakiniku Like" restaurant, known for its "1 person yakiniku" concept. However, we were seated at a table for two, which was a bit unexpected but still exciting! We ordered the "Takumi Kalbi & Harami Set (150g)" x2, along with complimentary drinks. The set included delicious meat, rice, wakame soup, and white kimchi. The meat was flavorful, and we enjoyed dipping it in the various sauces provided. The rice was surprisingly topped with cheese, garlic, and black sesame, adding a unique twist. Overall, the meal was satisfying, although we noticed some condensation dripping from the sauce bottles on the wall, which was a minor inconvenience. Despite this, the affordable prices and quality of the meat made the experience enjoyable. After wandering around the area, we headed to a reserved afternoon tea spot to continue our culinary adventure!

After watching a movie, I felt like having some yakiniku and visited "Yakiniku Like Kyoto Kawaramachi Takoyakushi Store" for the first time. It was also my first time having yakiniku alone. The staff explained to me how to order using the touch panel and provided detailed information. After some hesitation, I ordered the "Upper loin & Harami & Bara Kalbi set 250g" (1,590 yen). And of course, I couldn't resist ordering a "draft beer" as well. It was nice to be able to eat alone casually. Having a draft beer and yakiniku during the day was great. I was surprised to see quite a few female solo diners as well. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I had a late lunch and visited this restaurant on an empty stomach. I ordered the Master Kalbi & Harami set 200g (1200 yen). The quality of the meat was decent, and the concept of catering to solo diners during the pandemic at an affordable price is excellent for a chain restaurant. Everything from ordering, getting water, serving, and paying is self-service. Great marketing strategy.

A few minutes' walk from Kawaramachi Station in Kyoto. I stopped by here today. The main seating inside the restaurant is at the counter, with some tables in the back as well. Orders are placed using the provided tablet. I ordered the Bara Kalbi set (100g) with a normal amount of rice, and also a draft beer. Now, let's dig in! The set is a standard yakiniku meal. The meat quality is decent for the price, which is already quite affordable. They offer three types of sauces, as well as lemon juice, grated garlic, and gochujang for you to use as you like. Overall, it was a satisfying meal! The Bara Kalbi set costs 580 yen including tax for 100g, which is a great deal. The beer I ordered was 530 yen, so the set meal is about the same price as one beer. However, everything is self-service, from picking up your meat to using the unmanned cash register for payment, so some people may find this aspect a bit off-putting.

I had some errands to run during lunchtime. I was unsure of what to eat, but I decided to try Yakiniku Like, a place I had wanted to visit for a while. I arrived a little after 1 pm. Since it was after the typical salaryman lunchtime, I was able to be seated right away. Inside, I was surprised to see many solo female diners. It was a quiet time, so there were plenty of open seats available. Instead of buying food tickets, you order using a touch panel. There were various sauces for the yakiniku. In front, there was a space for grilling. I ordered the Kalbi set and went to the counter to pick it up when my number was called. I grilled and ate the food. During lunchtime, you can have unlimited rice, but there is an additional charge for extra kimchi. I finished my meal in no time. I would like to visit again when I have the chance.

I went there at night this time! It was my first time going, and they operate by ordering on a touch panel and then picking up your order at the counter when your number is called. On this day, I ordered a platter of harami and kalbi, along with some rice accompaniments that go well with the grilled meat (it came with a green onion sauce and a raw egg). The meat was definitely worth the price, and I left feeling full! They even changed the grill for us, which was a service I didn't expect. I think it's better to go for a quick lunch during work hours rather than dinner.

Personally, I'm not a fan of sitting facing a wall while dining. Considering the limited variety of meat and drinks, I don't think I'll be revisiting this place.

I had always been curious about solo yakiniku. I could grill my favorite meats in the order I liked and enjoy at my own pace. There was a partition between me and the next table, similar to a certain ramen shop, so I could enjoy my own space. The meat may be a bit pricey if you're particular, but compared to regular yakiniku restaurants, the set menu is reasonable. I could choose my favorite sauce and enjoy experimenting with different flavors.

I ordered the Tan, Shokuniku Kalbi, Harami set, which includes three types of meat, rice, soup, and kimchi. The Shokuniku Kalbi was tender, with the fat melting in the mouth without being greasy. It was not heavy and did not cause heartburn. The Harami was also tender, without any unpleasant smell. However, the Tan had a slight smell and seemed a bit overpriced for what it was. I also ordered additional items like Misuji, Hormone, and a set of egg over rice as a finishing touch. All the meat was tender and delicious, without any unpleasant smell. Since all orders are picked up on trays, it's important to return the first tray to the return counter before ordering additional items, as the trays do not fit on the table. The menu is somewhat limited, with a lack of options like roast beef. The drinks seemed a bit pricey, with beer priced at 480 yen and highball at 350 yen. Payment can be made in cash or credit card. Also, you don't need to return the dishes to the return counter at the end of the meal if you're seated at a table. This is a great place for solo diners who want to enjoy meat! This restaurant is rapidly expanding and gaining popularity as a solo yakiniku restaurant. They have opened several stores in Osaka, and recently even opened a store inside the Tsuruhashi Station on the Kintetsu line, so you may be familiar with them. I introduced a Kobe store last time, but I didn't have a good impression, so you might be wondering why I came here again. Well, today I came on a whim... Last time, I was disappointed by the thin, low-quality meat, so I decided to give them another chance. Upon entering the store around noon, I found that about 70-80% of the seats were occupied. The menu is in tablet form, so please check the official website for details. This time, I decided to go with the Takumi Kalbi & Harami Set (200g) instead of the Misoji & Harami Set, as I wanted some marbled meat. The meat was served promptly, and I went to pick it up at the counter. The 200g set here had more volume compared to the one I had at the previous yakiniku restaurant. The meat had a moderate thickness, which was much better. I have to say, I reconsidered my opinion of Yakiniku Like at that moment. I started with the Harami, which was tender and had a good amount of marbling. The richness of the meat was enjoyable, and it had a nice depth of flavor. I then tried the Takumi Kalbi, which was slightly chewier but had a strong umami flavor and sweetness from the marbling. The thickness of the cuts was impressive. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, and the Takumi Kalbi stood out as the best in terms of cost performance among the meats I have tried at Yakiniku Like.

We all went together, but sat at the counter and enjoyed yakiniku individually. It's nice to be able to order whatever you like, cook it the way you want, and eat it the way you like. It's so refreshing to focus on grilling without worrying about others. It feels like a campfire. It's great that yakiniku has become so easily accessible.

Since visiting the Akihabara branch, I have been a fan of Like. I am grateful that they have finally opened a store in Kyoto. I recommend ordering the bara kalbi, and today I got the 150g portion. It's amazing how much 50g more feels! The system is the same as in Tokyo, where you order by tapping, light up the grill, and go get your water. When it's ready, they call your name and you pick it up from a slightly different spot. If you're not sure, just ask the staff. I quickly started grilling the meat. It's great that you can have the grill all to yourself. The kimchi and soup are delicious, and you can even get extra rice. It's all so satisfying. Plus, they have a variety of sauces like soy sauce, miso, lemon, garlic, and gochujang. I really want to buy them to take home. And all this for just 770 yen is too cheap, right? I will definitely be back!
