It was an incredible wine party with an extraordinary group of members. Thanks to the organizer N and all the wine enthusiasts, as well as the restaurant. I never expected such a gathering to happen... It started in the afternoon and lasted until the evening, an endless party. The food was based on the same menu as last time, but they made significant improvements. The French cuisine with delicious homegrown vegetables was light on the stomach, allowing us to enjoy the wine continuously. The dishes included White Corn Cold Soup, Yellowtail Carpaccio Salad, Double Consomme Jelly, Scallops and Porcini Spring Rolls, Red Snapper Fillet with Aurora Sauce, Wagyu Sirloin Shabu-Shabu, Vegetable Rice, Beef Cheek Stew, Chocolate Terrine with Pistachio Cream, and Grape Compote. We also had additional orders of Hira Katsu and Red Snapper Carpaccio. The wines we enjoyed included Dom Perignon Rose 2008, Miani Merlot 1997, Groffier Chambertin 1983, Joseph Drouhin Griotte Chambertin 1996, Chateau Leoville Poyferre 2002, Chateau Marsannay 2004, Sylvain Cathiard Vosne-Romanee 2011, Ponsot Morey-Saint-Denis 1990, and Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 2018. It was a fantastic experience with amazing wines and great company.

Today I had some errands in the early evening in Kyoto, so I decided to stop by here on a whim. I love red wine (full-bodied with low acidity and tannins), so the Bordeaux Cabernet Merlot recommended to me was rich and smooth, exactly to my taste. It made the meal even more enjoyable and I was very happy with it! The tripe stewed in tomato sauce was incredibly delicious!! It had no unpleasant smell, a nice chewy texture, and was simply amazing! I will definitely be coming back for this dish! The beef tendon curry started off sweet and then the spiciness kicked in, but the initial sweetness was unexpectedly strong and both my husband and I didn't prefer it, although we did enjoy the first bite. The pickled cucumber and okra served with it were tasty. The vegetable omelette rice had lots of vegetables with a crunchy texture, and the egg was fluffy and tasty, although it may have been too complex in flavor for children. The vegetables were so delicious that I want to try the vegetable fritters next time. The dessert of chocolate terrine was rich and deep in flavor, with a good level of sweetness, and incredibly delicious! It may have been bitter for the kids, but for adults, it was a rich and sweet chocolate terrine, one of the best chocolates I've had in a while. Even my husband, who doesn't usually like chocolate, loved it and had multiple bites. I definitely want to order the tripe and chocolate terrine again next time! There were many other items on the menu, so I would love to visit again when I'm in Kyoto. We visited on a Saturday around 13:20 and it was quiet, so we could enjoy our meal leisurely without worrying about our kids. The lunch was 7,200 yen, which was reasonable for the delicious food we had. I'm glad to have found this great restaurant! Thank you for the wonderful meal. ♡

Located a few minutes' walk from Sanjo on the Keihan line, around the Pontocho area, is a French restaurant. It's not yet a well-known place, but I heard that the food is good so I decided to check it out. I made a reservation for Sunday lunch and visited the restaurant. Even though it seemed like we could have gotten a table without a reservation, it ended up being fully booked, so I recommend making a reservation just in case. The interior has counter seats and tables behind them, with a total of about 20 seats. The chef manages everything on their own, handling both à la carte and course meals, which is quite impressive. However, once the restaurant was full, it got quite hectic! The à la carte menu looked delicious, but since it was my first time, I opted for the lunch course. There were options for 4,000 yen and 5,000 yen, with the latter including both fish and meat as main dishes. I chose the 5,000 yen course. It started with soup, followed by a horse mackerel appetizer, salmon burger, sea bream as the fish main, and Kyoto pork rib roast steak as the meat main. Lastly, we had a spicy curry. The Kyoto pork had just the right amount of fat and was delicious. The sauce was light but had a strong presence, complementing the dish well. I think the course was a good value for the price, and the à la carte menu also had tempting options. They were making dishes like hamburgers and omelettes, which looked tasty. The chef was entertaining to watch, with a funny contrast between the smiley face when talking to customers and the serious expression while cooking. Since the chef was handling everything alone, it may take a while for the food to be served when the restaurant is full, so be patient.

I had the lunch course and everything was delicious, but the vegetables, usually in a supporting role, were surprisingly tasty! The menu is shown in the photo, but the best dish was the sweet potato with ribeye steak sauce. Of course, the ribeye steak was delicious too, but the perfect combination of this sauce and sweet potato was outstanding. The chef seemed to be handling everything alone, but he was considerate and I didn't feel uncomfortable. This is a restaurant I definitely want to visit again.

French-based menu featuring seasonal vegetables from Tsujiki Farm in Shiga. The restaurant has 8 counter seats and 12 table seats. Tsujiki Farm is the chef's family home. The entrance of the restaurant exudes a Kyoto-like atmosphere, with a wine cellar inside offering a wide selection of wines. The food menu is rich, with a focus on casual French cuisine, as well as Chinese and Japanese dishes. The à la carte option makes it easy to order, and the bistro-like vibe makes it a comfortable place to visit. Many solo diners were present. I tried the 10,000 yen French course on my first visit and found it enjoyable. The pumpkin potage was sweet and smooth, the straw-grilled bonito with black vinegar sauce had a nice aroma, and the scallop and mushroom sauté in anchovy sauce was particularly delicious. The roasted duck with honey and caramelized La France pear was a standout, as was the seared sea bream with shungiku sauce. The rare-cooked wagyu cutlet with ripe tomato sauce and demi-glace was tender and juicy. The hot fruity curry made with Tsujiki Farm's new rice was both sweet and spicy, with tender beef tendon. The dessert, sweet potato Mont Blanc, had a fluffy texture and melted in the mouth. I also added the Kyoto pork loin and scallop oil pasta, which was flavorful and slightly spicy.

I went for lunch with a friend and we ordered a la carte instead of the course. The owner was very accommodating and said we could request dishes not on the menu. He runs the place alone, but sitting at the counter allows you to watch the cooking. The food was delicious and I would love to visit again. Thank you for the meal! (*^^*)

I visited for lunch on a Sunday. We arrived at 1 pm for our reservation and found one other party at a table. We sat at the counter. The menu offered a course and a la carte options, and this time we chose the 5000 yen course. We were served the following: Yamazaki water and corn cold potage, amberjack carpaccio with sherry vinegar sauce, homemade brioche with shrimp cream burger, hamburger and pork shoulder sauté with demi-glace sauce, mini curry, and dessert with coffee. The chef handles everything from cooking to serving by themselves. They use vegetables and rice from their family farm in Shiga Prefecture, where they also help out and harvest on days off. The dishes were made with a variety of colorful and delicious vegetables. The food was simple and overall delicious, but the main meat dish was a bit cold, which was disappointing. It would have been better if it was hot. They have a wide selection of wines and a la carte options, making it convenient for customers.

After a long time, I visited the restaurant Munisan and ordered a special course for 25,000 yen. It was amazing! The edamame soup and onion soup were delicious. The dancing scallops from Maizuru, the conger eel from Awaji Island, and the Kumamoto beef loin shabu-shabu with 100% pure consomme soup were incredibly tasty. The wine paired perfectly with the meal.

Visited in autumn 2021. The newly opened restaurant, Mr. Muni. Chef Tsuji, who comes from a farming background, honed his skills at a hotel French restaurant and won the Japan Runner-up in a competition. The cold soup that brings out the flavor of vegetables is exquisite. On this day, it was a white corn soup. The cold soup made only with the moisture of onions is also excellent. The roasted dishes using seasonal vegetables and fish are delicious. The homemade demi-glace sauce and broth, aged for two weeks, are uncompromisingly delicious. On a cold day, the onion gratin soup and beef tongue stew are incredibly delicious. The owner is a sommelier, so there are plenty of wines in the cellar. Bottles start from around 7000 yen. They also serve by the glass. They also have many legendary wines in stock. Next time, I will ask for wine and stewed dishes. I will post again.

Great cost performance! I would like to use it again soon. It's a small shop, but very cozy.
