Located a few minutes' walk from Sanjo on the Keihan line, around the Pontocho area, is a French restaurant. It's not yet a well-known place, but I heard that the food is good so I decided to check it out. I made a reservation for Sunday lunch and visited the restaurant. Even though it seemed like we could have gotten a table without a reservation, it ended up being fully booked, so I recommend making a reservation just in case. The interior has counter seats and tables behind them, with a total of about 20 seats. The chef manages everything on their own, handling both à la carte and course meals, which is quite impressive. However, once the restaurant was full, it got quite hectic! The à la carte menu looked delicious, but since it was my first time, I opted for the lunch course. There were options for 4,000 yen and 5,000 yen, with the latter including both fish and meat as main dishes. I chose the 5,000 yen course. It started with soup, followed by a horse mackerel appetizer, salmon burger, sea bream as the fish main, and Kyoto pork rib roast steak as the meat main. Lastly, we had a spicy curry. The Kyoto pork had just the right amount of fat and was delicious. The sauce was light but had a strong presence, complementing the dish well. I think the course was a good value for the price, and the à la carte menu also had tempting options. They were making dishes like hamburgers and omelettes, which looked tasty. The chef was entertaining to watch, with a funny contrast between the smiley face when talking to customers and the serious expression while cooking. Since the chef was handling everything alone, it may take a while for the food to be served when the restaurant is full, so be patient.
