I visited during lunchtime. There was a line and I had to wait for about an hour. The seating is limited, so the turnover is slow. I ordered the Thick-Cut Beef Tongue with Miso Sauce set. Despite being thick, it was tender and juicy. There were a variety of sauces, so I didn't get tired of eating it.

Recently, beef cutlet seems to be popular in Kansai. The beef cutlet restaurant "Kyoto Katsugyu" has been opening more and more branches. When I was a child in Osaka, I used to order beef cutlet for delivery from a nearby Western-style restaurant, so I am happy to see its popularity. In Osaka, when you say "meat," it usually refers to beef. It's a popular restaurant, so there is usually a line. After waiting for a while, I finally got in. I tried to order the best menu, the Black Wagyu Beef Cutlet Kyotamazen, but it was sold out. So, I decided to go for the next best option, the Beef Fillet Cutlet Kyotamazen. By the way, "tamazen" means a set meal with a hot spring egg. First, a ceramic plate was brought to the table. Since the cutlet is fried rare, you can adjust the cooking level to your liking or use the plate to reheat it when it cools down. Then, soy sauce, pepper, sauce, and curry were brought as condiments. You can dip the cutlet in them as you like. It was ready in about 10 minutes. The fillet meat was indeed tender! Being beef, it's perfectly fine to have it fried rare! The cutlet is tender and delicious. The coating is also thin. My companion had the Beef Loin Cutlet set. It's a reasonably priced beef cutlet. The loin meat is a bit tough compared to the fillet. The difference is clear. The miso soup with Mitsuba, wheat gluten, and seaweed was delicious as well. Beef cutlet seems to be popular these days. If you prefer tender meat, then make sure to choose the right menu. After that, I had Matsusaka beef cutlet at the famous restaurant "Tonkatsu Nozaki" in Matsusaka, and it was indeed more delicious. Thank you for the meal.

There were 5-6 groups of customers waiting in line, but the wait was worth it. The meat was tender and lean, very delicious. The coating was crispy and crunchy, so I went back for more. They even exchanged coins without any fuss, which I appreciated.

I've been coming to this place for quite some time and it's a really delicious and nice restaurant. This time, I had the beef cutlet set with a LINE coupon, so I got to eat it at a really good price. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the variety of condiments provided made it interesting and not boring. I got carried away and had two glasses of draft beer, feeling very happy as I left. I will definitely come back again.

I'm not a fan of fatty meat, so I chose the assorted plate of harami (skirt steak) and tan (tongue)! The tongue was thick and had a great chewy texture. The harami was reliably delicious. The meat is served rare, but if you ask the staff, they will bring a hot plate for you to cook the meat yourself.

I always had the image of this shop where you have to wait in line. I ordered the rib roast because it was cheaper for the first time I registered on LINE. You can have unlimited rice, miso soup, and cabbage. The size is large, and the meat was rare with a thin crust. I was worried about the portion being too much, but I finished it all in no time. There are plenty of dipping sauces and salt for the cutlet, and the dipping sauces for the soft-boiled egg and curry were so good that I even poured them over my rice at the end. The meat had some fat, and it wasn't extremely tender, but it was perfect for savoring the juiciness of the meat. Thank you for the meal.

A few minutes walk from Kawaramachi Station in Kyoto. I stopped by here today. The interior of the restaurant has only counter seats and the main menu is beef cutlet. I ordered the sirloin beef cutlet set. Let's dig in! The cutlet is served rare, so you can also cook it on the table's hot plate. The meat quality is quite ordinary, neither good nor bad. The variety of sauces provided is good, so you can enjoy different flavors. Overall, the cost performance is average. Rice, miso soup, and cabbage are free for refills, so your experience may vary depending on whether you refill or not. The aisle and seating are a bit narrow, making it feel somewhat cramped. Enjoy your meal!

Gyukatsu with plenty of dipping sauce ❤︎
♡ [Specialty White] Gyusirloin Katsu Set ¥1529
It arrived in about 5 minutes, faster than I expected. The gyukatsu was very rare, cooked on a hot plate to your liking.
First, I tried it with wasabi soy sauce. The slightly red katsu with lots of wasabi on top dipped in soy sauce was delicious. The meat was very tender and melted in my mouth, with no toughness at all. The soy sauce was sweet like dashi soy sauce, and the wasabi had a refreshing aroma without being too spicy.
Next, I tried it with sansho salt. The aroma of sansho spread in my mouth, and the saltiness made it very tasty.
Then, I tried it with gyukatsu sauce, which was not as salty as I expected. It was a sweet sauce with a savory flavor that complemented the protein well.
My favorite was the wasabi. Next, I tried the "Kyoto Curry Dipping Sauce," which was not thick like curry but more like a sauce with curry flavor. It was soft and delicious.
If I have the chance, I would love to go back again.

Today I will be visiting many gourmet restaurants in Kyoto! I visited two hamburger restaurants, took a break at Komeda, and finally ended up here. I originally wanted to visit two more restaurants for dinner, but my stomach is at its limit, so I give up here! I love meat, so I always think that steak is a great way to finish a meal instead of ramen. I had burgers for lunch, so it was a meat-filled day. I have been to Katsugyu in other prefectures, but I heard it originated in Kyoto, so I decided to try it here. Since it had just opened, I was able to get in smoothly. I ordered the simplest beef loin set, but choosing the meat cut was really difficult. I usually like sirloin, but since I had eaten a lot of meat that day, I couldn't resist the tenderloin. In the end, I went for the classic menu. The service was incredibly fast here, so I enjoyed my meal quickly and deliciously.

Arrived at the restaurant around 7:15 PM on Saturday with 2 people. We were the second group as there was already a pair of 2 waiting. We thought we would be seated soon, but the door took a while to open. We could see inside and observed that the staff were not very efficient. Even when tables were available, they were slow to clear them. The kitchen seemed small as well, causing delays in seating customers. After waiting for about 25 minutes, we finally sat down. We ordered the beef sirloin cutlet set, the beef loin cutlet a la carte, and also the beef tongue cutlet. The food arrived in about 10 minutes. The beef tongue cutlet, which was an additional order, was served in a cramped small dish and looked sloppy despite its high price of around 800 yen. The meat juice had collected at the bottom, staining the breading red. The taste of the cutlets was just average. The most disappointing part was the rice, which was sticky and clumped together, making it the worst part of the meal. I had doubts about the restaurant's operation while waiting, and this experience confirmed that it also affects the food quality. I didn't feel the dedication to serving good food. I won't be coming back.

[Interior/Experience] The store has a very clear storefront. Inside, there are counter seats and table seats, but it's quite narrow.
[Payment Methods] Payment can be made with cash, credit card, and QR code.
[Ordered Menu] Beef Fillet Katsudon Set 1,980 yen
I tried beef katsu for the first time and it was delicious. The rare katsu goes well with the red miso. The presentation in a set meal style is luxurious and pleasing. You can get unlimited refills of cabbage.

Whenever I feel like eating beef, I always come here. They serve beef cutlets with three different seasonings: Kyoto-style dashi soy sauce, salt and pepper, and wasabi Japanese-style sauce. You could say it's a Japanese-style beef cutlet. Unlimited refills of cabbage and red miso soup! Steak is good too, but in terms of cost performance, this place is a must!

I knew the name of the restaurant but it was my first time trying it. The staff kindly helped me by providing forks and spoons when they noticed I was injured and had difficulty. The fillet was tender and moist, while the loin was thinly sliced. I felt like there could have been more batter on the meat, but considering the balance of flavors, it might be just right. It wasn't too greasy. It was a bit pricey, but it's meat after all... Rice, cabbage, and red miso soup are all-you-can-eat. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a favorite tonkatsu restaurant that I used to go to with friends for drinks, birthday celebrations, and to cheer up my university juniors since my student days. It's a famous place with a branch in Osaka Umeda. Some people think it's a high-class restaurant because the tonkatsu comes in a bento box, but it's actually delicious when you top it with mustard and pour the special broth over it. Rice refills are free.

For lunch in Kyoto Shinkyogoku, I went to Kyoto Katsu Gyukatsu Kawaramachi store. I had the Gyukatsu Kyoto Tamagozen M for 1480 yen. On the plate in front, there is wasabi soy sauce, sansho salt, and gyukatsu sauce. The small dish on the right is Kyoto curry dipping sauce, and the one on the top left is Kyoto tamago (onsen egg). The thinly breaded and fried gyukatsu is cut into thin slices, making it easy to eat, and you can enjoy it with various flavors. First, try it with wasabi soy sauce. It goes really well with the rare fried beef loin. When dipped in curry sauce, it tastes like katsu curry. It's also delicious dipped in onsen egg. You can have unlimited refills of barley rice, cabbage, and red miso soup. Enjoy!

I visited for lunch on January 12, 2020. I ordered the Mizore Wagyu Cutlet set. The set came with salad, miso soup, and unlimited rice. The Wagyu cutlet was thinly sliced and looked delicious with a rare center. It was served with plenty of grated daikon radish. It was tasty and easy to eat. There were sauces and dashi soy sauce on the table for flavor variations. I also tried the recommended wasabi soy sauce, which was the most delicious.

When I was shown the menu, I felt excited. Inside, I was greeted by the energetic voices of the staff, which lifted my mood. I ordered the beef cutlet set for 1280 yen and a draft beer. After waiting for about 5-6 minutes, a luxurious set meal was served. I was told that I could have unlimited refills of cabbage and rice. I started with the cabbage, which was very fresh and crunchy. It was so delicious that I had seconds. The beef cutlets had a few tough pieces, but overall, they were very tasty considering the price. The miso soup was also delicious. The rice had barley mixed in, which I like, but it was a bit too soft for my taste. The draft beer was cold and refreshing. It was a feast.

We visited the restaurant around 3 PM because our lunch was delayed. Despite the limited seating, the place was full, but we only had to wait for about 5 minutes before being seated. We told the staff it was our first visit, and they recommended two dishes for us to try:
- Black Wagyu Beef Cutlet Set for 2480 yen (excluding tax). The rare frying made the taste delicious, but the meat was a bit tough.
- Greedy Assortment of 4 Types of Beef Cutlets for 2680 yen (excluding tax). This dish includes tongue, rib roast, sirloin, and tenderloin cutlets, and it was more recommended. The meat was tender and tasty.
Rice, miso soup, and other side dishes are free for refills, which was convenient. It says they fry in 60 seconds, but it actually took about 10 minutes for the food to be served, so be aware if you are in a hurry. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

This is a specialized restaurant for rare beef cutlet. It's not beef cutlet, but beef cutlet. It's a food that you don't see often at other restaurants, so I feel like eating it occasionally. The atmosphere at the Higashiyama store is good, but I have the impression that there is no line here. The beef cutlet is thinly sliced and easy to eat even for women. It is eaten rare with some redness remaining. There are various condiments such as pepper, wasabi soy sauce, sauce, curry sauce, etc., and you may need more rice than a full bowl. There is also a free refill service (recommended). Special selected beef loin cutlet set meal (waiting time) about 30 minutes. The location is popular with tourists, so the number of customers increases.

I had the opportunity to try beef cutlet in Kyoto during a trip to the Kansai region a little while back. I don't often get to eat beef cutlet in Hokkaido, where I live... The beef cutlet, eaten with wasabi and salt, was so delicious that it brought tears to my eyes. I remember it was very crowded as it was lunchtime at a popular restaurant. I would love to visit again when I go to the Kansai region next time.
