Today I had work in Higashiyama, Kyoto. It seems that the number of tourists has started to calm down, so it wasn't too crowded. For lunch, I went to a parent-child restaurant that I had been wanting to try for a while. I was planning to order the most popular gyoza set, but the rice bowl next to me looked so delicious that I ended up getting the Yama-chan Donburi No. 5 (with crab omelette on mapo tofu). It arrived in about 5 minutes, and it was huge! The owner used to run a student cafeteria in Fushimi, so the portions are quite generous. The Yama-chan Donburi has mapo tofu flavored crab omelette on top, with lots of chopped vegetables for a great texture and addictive flavor. It was delicious! The menu only listed three types of Yama-chan Donburi, so I wonder if there are No. 1 and No. 2 as well? The owner was charming and the atmosphere was pleasant. I will definitely come back! Thank you for the meal!

There was a dumpling restaurant in Fushimi-ku, Fujimori. I heard that the dumplings made by the mom there were delicious, over 10 years ago. The mom later opened a shop in Ichijoji, Sakyo-ku, but eventually closed it. Then I heard she returned to Fujimori. One day, I decided to go drink in Fujimori, taking the Keihan train. My destination was that dumpling shop and another one, a "cat cafe." When I asked the cat cafe owner, she said, "The dumplings there are different now from the past." She mentioned that the famous mom now runs a different dining place. So, there was no point in going to that dumpling shop! I visited a different place instead. And that "different place" turned out to be here. What a coincidence! I entered! There were no other customers. I chatted with the mom while eating. I ordered 6 meat dumplings, 3 pan-fried soup dumplings, a bottle of beer (medium), totaling 1700 yen. The cost-performance ratio may not be the best, but the taste is the main issue. The dumplings first, oh, the juicy meat juice came out! Nice! The soup dumplings, even more meat juice came out! Impressive! I wouldn't say I was completely full, but I was satisfied enough and had a good chat with the mom. It seems like a good place to come with a few people, order various dishes, and enjoy. It may not beat the famous "Gyoza no Ohsho" in terms of cost-performance, but if you don't mind the price and just want to enjoy delicious dumplings, this place is definitely worth a visit.
