I enjoyed the Sagano course. The meal included crab dish, taraba crab steak, hot vegetables, steak, salad, crab fried rice, pickles, soup, and dessert. I also ordered abalone for an additional 5000 yen. As a bonus from Tabelog, I received a crab gratin. The chef cooked in front of us, creating a fun atmosphere. They offer Kyoto sake and wine in half bottles. You can also order additional crab dishes a la carte. Overall, it was a great experience.

I visited Kaniyutei in Gion, Kyoto for the first time! It's located on the 4th floor of a building that also houses Sapporo Kaniya. Today, I ordered the "Kaniyutei Course" which costs 14,850 yen per person (drinks not included). The course includes appetizers, snow crab sashimi, soup, grilled king crab, seasonal vegetables, premium Omi beef steak, special salad, crab fried rice, red miso soup, pickles, and dessert. It was a crab lover's dream come true and I left feeling very satisfied! Although the price is on the higher side, I personally think it's worth it for the delicious crab dishes. I would love to visit again for lunch next time! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I used it for my birthday. I had made a reservation for one person in advance to have a luxurious lunch. The meal consisted of crab sashimi, salad, crab gratin, crab steak, fillet steak, rice with red miso soup, pickles, and dessert. When I was seated, the person at the entrance seemed to think there were two people, even though I had clearly stated one person when making the reservation. They reluctantly showed me to my seat. The crab was sweet and firm, but the meat was tender yet a bit dry. The rice could be upgraded to fried rice for an additional fee, but the seasoning was inconsistent. Overall, it didn't quite live up to the price. There was also a moment where the chef seemed to be scolding someone in the kitchen, which I would have preferred to not witness.

I went to Gion Kaniyutei! This place is located on the 4th floor of Gion Kaniya, where you take off your shoes at the entrance and then take the elevator to the 4th floor. The elevator floor is covered with tatami mats! The smell of rush grass is indescribable. First, today's soup, chilled corn soup, is served with dry ice in a double-layered bowl, creating a smoky effect. But this is a crab house production! The soup also has a crab flavor and was delicious. The king crab sashimi was sweet and delicious when you bite into the firm flesh. The green salad with sesame dressing was tasty and beautifully presented. The snow crab in vinegar had a strong crab flavor that didn't lose to the vinegar. It was a large snow crab. The snow crab tempura was delicious, but I personally felt that since it was snow crab, a thinner batter would have been better. The batter was too thick and overshadowed the crab flavor. The king crab steak x2 had a buttery aroma that whet the appetite, perfectly cooked, and satisfying to eat. The crab fried rice was just ordinary fried rice. It's difficult to achieve a moist texture on a hot plate, making the rice a bit dry. After all this food, two of us had two draft beers, two non-alcoholic wines, and the bill came to 28,000 yen. Crab is indeed expensive! I wish it was a bit cheaper so I could visit more often. (laughs)

We went with two Brazilian couples and six of us to a room with a counter on the 4th floor of Kaniya-san, located near Yasaka Shrine on the Gion side. We enjoyed aperitifs while looking at the mountains at dusk. The potatoes used in the bisque are Inca no Mezame. They are sweet and very delicious. We enjoyed crab sashimi, salad, crab teppanyaki, and fillet meat. The crab was incredibly beautiful. It is served fresh throughout the year. It is very useful when you want to eat crab and meat!

There is a separate store on the upper floor of Gion Kaniya, and here you can enjoy a slightly different service from the usual Kaniya. There is already a sense of specialness here. I have used it several times and have always been very satisfied. This time, I had a course meal. You can watch them prepare and cook Zuwai crabs, Taraba crabs, etc., right in front of you on the teppanyaki grill. The legs of both Zuwai and Taraba crabs are incredibly large. The sashimi melts in your mouth with a sweet taste. The Taraba crab legs are cooked very juicy, without the usual dryness, making them seem endless. The crab miso and crab gratin are not overpowering, allowing the natural taste and aroma of the crab to shine through. There was a non-alcoholic wine available, but it tasted more like grape juice, so it might be better to avoid ordering it. It's a luxurious lunch, but I want to go back at least once a year.
