I always struggle with what to eat in Kyoto. I made a mistake last time as well. I thought I wouldn't go wrong with a chain restaurant, so I tried this one. It was my first time at Gyu-Kaku. When I saw the tongue that came out first, I thought I had made a mistake even with a chain restaurant. It was frozen and curled up. It was 3480 yen for 90 minutes all-you-can-eat with last order at 70 minutes. Overall, the quality of the meat was not good, and I couldn't help but compare it to the restaurant I went to last time. Ah, Kyoto nights are still cold. I should have just eaten okonomiyaki quietly.

Visited on Sunday, July 7, 2019 around 9:30 pm. I went to Gyu-Kaku's all-you-can-eat after a long time! It's located at Kawaramachi Sanjo, which is easy to find! I went for the all-you-can-eat barbecue by myself. It's nice that even one person can enjoy the all-you-can-eat option. The place wasn't too crowded, probably because it was past the peak hours. The interior was dark and had a chic atmosphere, perfect for a date! There were many foreign customers as well. I chose the cheapest all-you-can-eat course for ¥2980, including tax ¥3218. I just had water to drink. They served addictive cabbage and kalbi with salt sauce as starters. Then, I ordered various types of barbecue using the touch panel - tongue, harami, kalbi, with different flavors like salt sauce, spicy miso, honey black pepper, etc. The side dishes included lettuce, Korean seaweed, onsen tamago kimchi, corn butter, garlic foil grill, and of course, Gyu-Kaku's signature kalbi rice and wakame soup. Since it was all-you-can-eat, I ended up eating too much! There was also a dessert included, but I couldn't eat it as I was too full! The meat was thin but tender and delicious for the price. I think you could add a drink all-you-can-eat option for an additional thousand yen. When it comes to barbecue in Kyoto, Chifaja is the go-to place, but Gyu-Kaku is also good once in a while. Thank you for the meal - I will visit again!

I suddenly had a craving for meat and tried a meat comparison set. The black wagyu beef had a lot of fat and gave me a bad stomachache. I prefer lean meat.

This is my first time at this restaurant, but I ordered the 3000 yen all-you-can-eat option. The first tongue I tried was very tough and tasted so bad that I couldn't eat it. I never want to come back to this restaurant again.

It's been a long time since I visited Gyu-kaku. I used to go to the one near the Kamo River Lawson, but recently I've been going to Sakai, Gyu-an, and Ichiban. The black interior and staff uniforms are still the same, but it seems like there are more messages written around the place. It's surprising to see signs celebrating their 20th anniversary, time really flies. The Gyu-kaku kalbi and kimchi bring back memories, but now there doesn't seem to be any standout menu items or grilling styles. Other places that offer a wider variety of dishes seem more appealing now. The grills are standard, no need to change the grates, and even if they offer good service, it doesn't seem to set them apart from other restaurants. I guess I've drifted away from Gyu-kaku for a reason... I miss that sizzling sound... I wish someone would say "gyu" to me...

After going out with my friend, we couldn't get a table at the restaurant we wanted for dinner, so we ended up at "Gyukaku Sanjo Kawaramachi" for some yakiniku. It had been a while since I had yakiniku and I enjoyed it. We ordered the large plate set for 4,300 yen which included various types of meat such as kalbi, loin, chicken basil, beef tongue, and sagari. The set also came with beef tongue with salt, chorogi salad, and grilled vegetables. We also ordered egg soup for 390 yen and Gyukaku kimchi for 290 yen. We tried the king's belly (790 yen) and loin (490 yen), although the loin was a bit tough. We also had stone-grilled bibimbap for 790 yen. We were stuffed after enjoying the yakiniku.

I wonder if the Lawson store on the Sanjo Ohashi Bridge has moved? It is located a bit inside the shopping street from the intersection of Kawaramachi and Sanjo. Passing through the front entrance filled with a luxurious atmosphere, we were guided upstairs. I thought I would go for the all-you-can-eat option, but after seeing the menu, I decided to go a la carte. Since I'm not very familiar with different cuts of red meat (and actually not a fan of beef), I left it up to them. We had a variety of dishes like beef tongue, pork belly, scallops, squid namul platter, and kimchi platter. Being a well-known chain, the taste was consistently good. The size of the mega rice portion was impressive and amusing!

On November 29, 2013, I visited for the annual "Good Meat Day". There was a limited time offer for all-you-can-eat and drink with 70 items, but I prioritized eating over drinking. The balance of being cheap and delicious at "Gyukaku" is excellent. It's reassuring to have such a reliable yakiniku chain no matter which store you visit nationwide. The staff are cute and provide pleasant service wherever you go. The Gyukaku ice cream with vanilla, kinako, and black honey that I chose as a finale was exquisite. I love this ice cream so much that it's worth coming to Gyukaku just to eat it. However, 90 minutes for all-you-can-eat yakiniku is a bit short for me personally. I would prefer 120 minutes, especially when considering dessert. I couldn't even eat the ice cream slowly (cries). But if it were extended to 120 minutes, would it affect the turnover rate? I hope for 120 minutes with the same price and content. I love Gyukaku and look forward to visiting again in the future.

We stopped by on our way back from Kyoto for some errands! It had been a while since my family and I went to Gyu-Kaku for yakiniku. There is a parking lot nearby, which made it easy to park. There was a bit of a wait, but it didn't bother us. We opted for the individual menu this time, instead of the time-limited all-you-can-eat option. We started with regular Negitan salt, then moved on to beef loin, kalbi, pork belly, and marinated kalbi. Two orders of rice were enough for the four of us. We finished off with Gyu-Kaku ice cream. Even though we didn't go for the all-you-can-eat plan, we were satisfied with our meal!

Whenever I feel like eating meat, I always use this place. There are many other yakiniku restaurants, but this one is the safest choice. I prefer drinking over eating, so I have never tried the courses or all-you-can-eat options. Premium items like Wagyu beef are a bit pricey, but the standard menu items are reasonably priced and always taste consistent. The middle rib kalbi is a must-have. They also give you plenty of green onion salt, which is a nice touch for those who enjoy it.

I arrived late at a workplace drinking party. There were still some customers present, and I decided to order dishes a la carte instead of the course menu, as all the meat on the course was American. I asked if there were any non-American meats available on the a la carte menu, and the staff kindly checked with the kitchen and provided me with a list of all non-American meat dishes. I appreciate their effort. I'm sorry for being so picky! Recommended for a date: ★★★☆☆ (3)

This time, I used it for a company gathering. We arrived late at night, but enjoyed the yakiniku without any worries. We ordered various items a la carte! And of course, with yakiniku, we ordered rice. We ordered a large serving and were surprised by the huge mountain of rice that came out ('_') Everyone was hungry, so we added a lot more, and before we knew it, we were full! We even had dessert at the end. Thank you for the meal!

I made a reservation at Gyu-Kaku with a friend because we both wanted to eat a lot that day. We ordered the 2980 yen all-you-can-eat option. We started with tongue salt and cabbage. Then we ordered various meats like kalbi, harami, and ume-tan salt. The meat arrived quickly and all of them were delicious. We were very hungry so we were grateful for the food. The meat was all so tasty and we left with full stomachs, it was perfect.

When walking in front of the store, I was called in because there was a time service going on. The first floor seemed crowded, but I was guided to the upper floor by the elevator. Inside the store, it was dark. No one was there and the atmosphere was not good. It may not be a family-friendly store. It seemed more geared towards students. The meat served at first was okay, but the all-you-can-eat meat menu didn't suit my taste at all. Is this really beef? The soup, rice, and other items also didn't suit me or my family. But considering the price, it's not too bad. The all-you-can-drink option for 380 yen is cheap! I had five beers. Thank you for the meal.

I went with my friends because we all wanted to eat meat. Even though I thought the number of people might be a bit too much, the restaurant was spacious, so we were able to enjoy ourselves without worrying. We had all-you-can-eat barbecue, which was consistently delicious. It's nice to have reliable chain restaurants. Eating barbecue together while chatting was enjoyable. Thank you for helping our friend who got a bit tipsy on the way back to the toilet and bringing water. If we feel like eating a lot of meat again, we will definitely come back.
