I visited a new restaurant in Kita-Senju called "Oto," which is known for its delicious "Shoyu" ramen. The restaurant had a unique name, and when I arrived on a holiday just after opening time at around 11:40 am, there was already a full house inside. I was able to enter smoothly without waiting in line, but by the time I left, there were people waiting outside. The restaurant has table seating, which is uncommon for ramen specialty shops in Tokyo. I purchased a ticket for their signature "Shoyu ramen" at the ticket machine on the left side upon entering and was seated at a table. I also showed a net coupon for a free "Chijyutama" (flavored egg), but the staff kindly explained that the egg was already included in the ramen. The ramen was served promptly, and the rich and flavorful broth was exceptional, with a perfect balance of umami without any bitterness or unpleasant flavors. The noodles had a satisfying chewiness that complemented the broth well. The ramen also had toppings like onions and seared pork slices, which added to the overall deliciousness. I also tried the "Chijyutama," which turned out to be a chicken meatball with a surprising plum filling that added a nice touch to the dish. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to those who enjoy rich and flavorful ramen, as it is one of the best in Tokyo in its category.

The tsukemen here is delicious. It's also nice that they are open all day. I have tried various ramen dishes here before and knew the high level of quality, but this time, in the height of summer, I decided to try the tsukemen for the first time. There are three types of dipping sauces: miso, spicy miso, and soy sauce, and two types of noodles: cold and hot. I chose soy sauce with cold noodles this time. As you can see in the photo, the noodles are thick, so it takes a bit of time for them to be served. The staff politely announces this in advance, which is typical of a popular restaurant with long lines. The soup is truly rich, as the name suggests. The soup has a layer of animal fat on the surface, so the dipping sauce is also hot. They mentioned that they would reheat the sauce if it cooled down, but I found the delicious noodles, with a hint of sweetness from the wheat flour, combined well with the rich dipping sauce, so I enjoyed it without feeling the need for reheating. The staff also recommended a way to eat it: first as it is, then mixing in yuzu pepper, and finally adding coarse ground sansho pepper. This way, the flavor changes gradually, and I enjoyed it until the end. I'm not a fan of the strong air conditioning in the restaurant, but overall, I think it's a great place that I would want to visit again.

There are many ramen shops near the station, and I was curious about this place that also has a branch in Ningyocho, so I decided to visit! I ordered the special simmered sardine ramen. The soup was light, with not much sardine flavor. The noodles were thin and straight, with an option for extra noodles. The chashu was tender and good. The braised pork belly was a bit overcooked and not very fatty.

Delicious! It has become one of my top three favorite dried fish ramen. When it comes to dried fish ramen, Ito-san and Ibuki-san are very memorable. I didn't know what kind of ramen it was, but I was drawn in by the number of comments and decided to try it because dried fish seems to be their specialty. Just like Ito-san and Ibuki-san, the thin noodles and flavor were to my liking.

Today I stayed in Kitasenju. For lunch, I had ramen near the hotel. The location is easy to find. It was 12:34. The restaurant was full and I was the third person in line. The interior of the restaurant is clean. The customers are mostly young people, and I was happy to see a counter seat for solo diners. I had the dried fish and soy sauce ramen for 910 yen, which had a refreshing yuzu aroma. The noodles and soup were very delicious. The noodles reminded me of Hakata tonkotsu ramen, and they offered extra noodles. I saw a woman ordering extra noodles. The chashu was okay.

I visited for the first time. I went on a weekday for lunch, and by going at a slightly off-peak time, I was able to enter the restaurant smoothly. I chose the half-char siu bowl with a topping of seasoned egg and dried fish. The taste was absolutely delicious! The flavor of the dried fish was not overpowering, and I was impressed by the tender meat, thick char siu, and the two types of meat included. I wanted to order extra noodles, but I resisted the temptation today. I will definitely visit again. I recommend it to everyone!

It's been quite a while since I last visited Oto-san. I think it's been years since I came right after it opened. This time, I was able to get in relatively easily after a few minutes of waiting on Wednesday after work. I chose the dried fish tsukemen this time, and the dipping sauce was quite thick. The dried fish flavor wasn't too light either. I think the tsukemen is their specialty. It was delicious and satisfying, not too overwhelming in portion size. Tsukemen: ✔️ Service: ✔️ Value for money: ✔️ Would I go back: ✔️

The ramen ingredients were lacking after a drinking party, so I got off the train and found a ramen shop I had always wanted to visit. The shop is known for its rich and flavorful dried fish broth ramen. It was my first time there, and it did not disappoint. The ramen was not too heavy or too light, just perfect. I originally planned to just have the ramen, but before I knew it, I had ordered an extra serving. The tableside Sichuan pepper grinder was a great addition. Adding it towards the end provided a perfect flavor change. It's easy to see why this place is so popular. Despite the high purine content in dried fish, I might just come back here again after another drinking party.

Visited the restaurant on Saturday at 2 pm, no wait but full house. Bought a meal ticket in advance and waited outside the shop. Since I was alone, I thought I wouldn't have to wait long, but even after some customers left, I wasn't seated at all. About 5 customers left separately and still no seating instructions, so I peeked inside the shop and made eye contact with a staff member. They told me to wait a little longer. The first customer who left was seated after 10 minutes, but there were still empty seats inside the shop. It was tough to wait in the scorching sun, so it would have been nice if they at least let us wait at the table. There were 3 or 4 staff members, and it seemed like everyone was a part-timer. The orders of customers who arrived before me were not served yet. The taste was average, maybe because of this experience. It was nice to have yuzu pepper on the table. When I left, there were empty seats, but they didn't seem to be letting in customers waiting outside. I couldn't help but think they were intentionally creating a line. It was a restaurant with no consideration for customers.

In Tokyo, there are many famous shops for dried fish broth ramen, but I remember being impressed by the rich dried fish soba I had at "Chuka Soba Ibuki" in Shimuma Sakagami over 10 years ago. I used to go around trying dried fish ramen at that time. "Menya Oto" is my first visit in 10 years, and I must say that it is delicious compared to other famous shops, but the richness is mild and refreshing. After finishing eating, the unique bitterness of the dried fish is suppressed thanks to the yuzu and the flavor change of the sansho pepper. (This is just my personal feeling.) The shredded pork topping is excellent, but the belly pork was dry and disappointing. It is refined in a good way, and even those who are not fond of dried fish should be able to enjoy it. I was able to finish the soup completely. Thank you for the meal ^_^

The ramen, or rather tsukemen, had a satisfying texture. The soup with a fragrant dried fish flavor had a strong saltiness. It seemed to be prepared with the anticipation of dilution, so even if it does get diluted a bit, it should still be fine. The tsukemen came with meat topping, and the perfect thickness of the noodles coated the dipping sauce well, making it delicious and enjoyable to finish.

Ramen with a strong flavor of dried fish. I recommend turning it into a porridge by adding rice. It was just the right amount with a boiled egg included. However, compared to three years ago, the punch of the dried fish seems to have decreased a bit. While elegant dried fish is nice, I felt like I wanted to eat ramen with a bit of that lingering dried fish smell from before.

Probably my 5th visit. Arrived at 10 PM and there were 4 people ahead of me. Waited for about 10 minutes before being seated. Served with a light lemon water. Soon after, my dish arrived. The slightly chewy noodles paired perfectly with the special soup. Ordering rice and turning it into porridge also seems delicious. I will definitely visit again when I'm in Kita-Senju. Thank you for the meal.

After visiting Skytree, we stopped by this ramen shop for a late-night meal. It was our first time there. We arrived at 10 PM and had to wait in line for about 5-6 groups ahead of us. We finally got in around 10:30-40 PM. Since we had been drinking quite a bit, I ordered the salt ramen for something light. It was served quickly, and I finished it in about 5 minutes. I can't think of anything special to say, but it was delicious! I even finished the soup. It seems like Friday nights are busy for ramen shops as a way to end the night. Next time, I'd like to avoid waiting for 30 minutes.

The chilled lemon water is subtly satisfying. The free toppings like Sichuan pepper and yuzu pepper are excellent. The special simmered bonito ramen (salt) I had was very rich. Extra noodles, mixed noodles, or just rice can all be enjoyed with the delicious flavor. The half chashu bowl is also delightful, pairing perfectly with the soup.

✅ A long-established restaurant in Kitasenju ✅ Popular with long lines ✅ Great table condiments Hello! This is Bocchi Gourmet and Mochin Travel! While walking around Kitasenju Station, I don't often see restaurants with long lines. Maybe there are popular places like Matador that have lines at certain times, but it could be that I'm not walking around during those times. However, one place that always seems to have a line is Menya Oto, a renowned shop known for its rich dried fish broth. I had been meaning to visit Menya Oto for a while, and on this hot day, I was originally planning to stop at a pub near Chiyoda Ohashi Station after walking from Ueno. But suddenly, I craved ramen and noodles instead of alcohol, so I decided that today was the day to visit Menya Oto. The exterior of the restaurant is just a small, ordinary shop. Even on a hot day like August 20th, there were people lining up. It was around 8 p.m. on a Sunday, a time when many people might prefer to stay at home, so it was quite impressive. Upon entering the shop, you immediately purchase a meal ticket. Although Menya Oto is known for its dried fish broth ramen, I opted for tsukemen this time due to the extreme heat on August 20th. I'll try the dried fish broth soba next time. As I proceeded to the back, I was guided to a counter seat at the far right end, and I was amazed to see the golden plate there. It's so luxurious! It's rare to see plates at seats in a ramen shop. It reminds me of high-end Japanese cuisine or sushi restaurants. Once seated, I was asked about the type of dipping sauce I wanted - soy sauce, salt, or spicy. Lately, I've been into spicy flavors, so I ordered the spicy sauce. While waiting, I checked out the table condiments - whole Sichuan peppercorns, yuzu pepper, and chili peppers were lined up! How thoughtful! I also noticed a notice about a free iced tea for following them on Twitter. I immediately followed them on Twitter and enjoyed the iced tea. So grateful! Now, onto the taste - the tsukemen here is not the original flavor of the shop since I ordered the spicy version. But the noodles were outstanding! They were thick noodles. And the hot dipping sauce arrived. Unlike the shop near Kitasenju and Gotanno Station, the sweetness was a bit less pronounced here. Nevertheless, the combination of the delicious noodles and dipping sauce was excellent. It was very tasty! The soft-boiled egg, cooked just right, was also satisfying. Finally, I finished with a soup-wari and it was a delicious meal! I will definitely come back next time for the dried fish broth ramen! Thank you for the meal!

I ordered the rich chicken salt ramen. It was so rich that it made me crave rice! I added a small bowl of rice halfway through and enjoyed it. The rich chicken broth paired perfectly with the medium noodles and yuzu. The small bowl of rice was also quite a generous portion! I ate until I was full!

I arrived a little before 12 o'clock. The restaurant was almost full. I ordered the special rich dried fish ramen and the pork rice bowl. A very energetic young lady greeted me with a big smile, handed me a hot towel, and led me to my table. The service was amazing and didn't feel like a typical ramen shop. I think for middle-aged people like myself who don't have much interaction with young women in their daily lives, this place would be appealing. The ramen was described as rich dried fish, but it was only slightly rich. The roasted pork was tough and the "melting pork" had some tender parts but also dry areas. Overall, the food felt a bit rough and not quite in line with current trends. The pork rice bowl also had some tough parts, making the mouth feel dry when eaten with the rice. However, the rice soaked in the sauce left at the bottom was delicious, similar to eel sauce. The restaurant seems to be doing well with its efforts in decor and business.

I visited for the first time. This was a shop I had been curious about for a while. I finally got to go. I ordered the special rich dipping noodles (soy sauce). The dipping sauce and noodles that came out felt carefully made, which I appreciated. The richness was not overpowering and easy to eat. I ended up finishing it all with soup refills. Next time, I'll aim for the dried fish ramen.

Noodle Shop Oto, Tokyo: Just a 5-minute walk from Kitasenju Station, this popular shop was selected as one of the top 5000 on Tabelog. They serve delicious dried fish broth ramen with a long line of customers waiting outside. Recommended dish: Special Rich Dried Fish Broth Ramen for 1150 yen. You can choose between soy sauce and salt for the broth, and the soup is made using the finest dried fish carefully selected from all over Japan. The seasoned egg is flavorful and tender, and the thick noodles pair well with the rich dried fish broth. The combination with yuzu pepper and sansho pepper is excellent. It's also recommended to order rice at the end and turn it into a porridge. I would like to try that next time! For more posts, check out @kgu.rume. Address: 2-39-18 Senju, Adachi-ku, Tokyo 120-0034. I visited during lunchtime on a holiday. Luckily, I didn't have to wait long and was able to be seated right away!! When I left, there were a few people waiting so I was really glad. It was hot so I chose the tsukemen. The noodles were thick and the soup was soy sauce flavored. I could have chosen miso as well but I prefer soy sauce. There were some pieces of menma and chashu in the soup!! It was satisfying to eat and the soup was delicious. There were counter seats and table seats, and both men and women were dining there. I would like to try the boiled fish and ramen next time I visit.

I arrived at the restaurant in the early afternoon. I like niboshi ramen, so I decided to order it. I ordered the straightforward niboshi ramen. They also had seasoned egg, which is a classic topping for niboshi ramen. The thin noodles had a strong niboshi flavor, which I personally enjoyed. I thought a little bit of yuzu or lemon would be nice, but it was already included and that was good. I couldn't finish the whole bowl because I eat small portions, but I would like to try the seasoned egg next time. A recommended dish.
