Located north of the intersection in Kamigamo Takagi-cho, there is a quiet restaurant with a red lantern that may not catch the eye of anyone other than locals. This place is so obscure that there is no information about it on food review websites like Tabelog, which is quite rare these days. The restaurant that caught my attention with its "Premium Jukusen" sign outside is the one I decided to visit and review today.
Upon entering, I found a small restaurant with about 6 counter seats and one raised seating area. An older man was diligently preparing the dishes. The menu was handwritten on a whiteboard, indicating that it likely changes depending on the day's ingredients. I started with the "Premium Jukusen" beer, which was incredibly cold and delicious, living up to my expectations. I also ordered the bonito sashimi and spear squid sashimi, both of which were fresh and tasty. However, the rolled omelette lacked depth in its broth flavor and did not look very appetizing. It seemed amateurish in comparison.
Overall, the restaurant may be a good choice for a casual drink with the "Premium Jukusen" beer, but it may not be suitable for a hearty meal or heavy drinking. I decided to add a glass of shochu and quickly made my way back home.
