Maybe I should have gone to that other beef bowl place that boasts being "fast, cheap, and delicious"... But then again, it's a company known for its bad labor practices. Even during lunchtime in this bustling area, there were only two staff members working, and they were slow to bring the bill, causing a line to form. Anyway, here is my food review: The curry here claims to be the origin of "curry hot pot," but it's quite different from the usual. The spiciness was moderate, so I added some seven-spice blend from the table. Along with the curry, there was a pickled radish and cabbage that was dyed bright red like sauerkraut. The chicken was a whole chicken leg, nicely grilled and easily falling off the bone as advertised. The curry was quite generous, and whether you eat it with the chicken or rice, it forms a harmonious trio in your mouth. This curry might even be tastier than a beef bowl with meat on top. I might consider coming back to try this curry again. Despite the great food, the staff at Zensho were quite unenthusiastic and seemed overworked, which might earn them the reputation of being a "black" company.

Then I added bonito flakes, pickled ginger, and seaweed to complete it! It takes some effort to prepare, but you can enjoy the fun of making it. It was different from regular okonomiyaki, but the crunchy raw cabbage made it really delicious.

I was reluctantly invited by a colleague to go to the Sukiya restaurant in Shijo Kiya-machi, located between Shijo and Kiya-machi in the Nakagyo ward of Kyoto.
