The first store manager of Akaren trained at the legendary Hakata "Akaren," founded in 1946. As a ramen lover myself, I have a decent opinion of Hakata ramen. When I was young, I visited the Akihabara store of Kyushu Jangararaamen quite often, but I wasn't so impressed. The only one that impressed me was Akaren. Both the soup and the noodles were perfect for me. Even now, I think that the noodles in Hakata ramen are too thin and lack flavor, but here, the thin noodles have a good texture because they are flat. I wasn't much of a playboy, so I didn't have much connection to Nishiazabu, but I visited Akaren quite often. As of September 15, 2023, Akaren Nishiazabu Main Store has a rating of 3.67 on Tabelog, 88,000 points on Ramen DB, and 4.1 on Google Maps. There is also a sister store called "Hakata Menbo Akaren Maru Building Store" in Marunouchi Building, which I have visited, but it was different from what I had in Nishiazabu. This time, I visited the Nishiazabu Main Store after a long time, and it was exactly what I remembered eating before. I was surprised at how delicious it was and at how it hadn't changed. 3. Menu and Atmosphere of Hakata Menbo Akaren Nishiazabu Main Store Ramen starts at 850 yen. The menu at Akaren Nishiazabu Main Store includes miso ramen as well. They don't have fried dumplings, but their water dumplings are a specialty. I ordered ramen and water dumplings (450 yen). The interior has young staff, but you can tell the head chef in the kitchen is a veteran craftsman. Maybe it's the same person I saw before, but I can't remember since it's been a long time. On the table, there are condiments like sesame, soy sauce, vinegar, pepper, and ichimi, as well as pickled ginger.

I visited during the daytime on a regular day. The appearance and ingredients are simple, but the soup has a deep flavor and is delicious. It's a soup that falls somewhere between rich and light, making it addictive. It's not flashy, but it's a soup that you'll want to keep savoring. Recommended.

I visited this place because it had good ratings on Tabelog. The ramen arrived just 1 minute after ordering, which was surprising! Despite being advertised as Hakata ramen, it had menma instead of wood ear mushrooms. The soup was not a cloudy tonkotsu broth, but rather a slightly thick clear pork bone soup. Thank you for the meal!

I was on a business trip to Tokyo and ended up stopping by Nishi-Azabu Finish around the time the date changed. It's one of the top 3 tonkotsu ramen shops I've been to in Tokyo. It was still delicious. Despite being on a diet, I ended up ordering the chashu ramen for some reason. Thank you for the meal!

First, the boiled dumplings arrived. Each one was small in size. They were slippery and easy to eat. Juicy but light. Incredibly delicious. Then came the ramen. I realized once again that I really like tonkotsu broth. The broth was amazing. The thin noodles were cooked firm, which paired well with the broth. Adding the bamboo shoots and green onions made it even better. The chashu pork felt a bit heavy, but one slice was okay. I thought the owner might be a scary-looking artisan type, but he left in a casual manner, so maybe he's not the owner?

Tonkotsu miso ramen for 950 yen. It had been about a year since my last visit. I went on a weekday around 10 pm. The restaurant was about half full when I arrived, but customers started coming in one after another. I ordered the tonkotsu miso ramen, which I had been curious about. The soup had a rich flavor and was incredibly delicious. I liked it even more than regular tonkotsu ramen. I think it would be even tastier with toppings like kimchi. I paid in cash at the entrance.

Arrived at the shop just before closing time. Ordered the char siu ramen with seasoned egg and seaweed. And of course, the famous boiled dumplings. I ordered a total of 3 dumplings. The pork bone ramen has a gentle flavor! Very easy to eat. I even ordered extra noodles twice (my subordinates laughed). If this place was open after work, I would always want to go there.

After drinking, I wanted to go to this place. I visited after 3 am, and surprisingly, it was crowded so I had to wait a bit. The tonkotsu shoyu ramen had a rich and strong flavor. It was perfect after drinking and easy to slurp down.

I went on a Saturday afternoon. The turnover rate was fast so we were seated quickly. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with firm noodles and added pickled vegetables. It was a basic Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen, a bit light but delicious. I think the price is amazing for Roppongi.

I visited after a long time, and it was still delicious! I had the Iwanori Ramen, and my companion had the Iwanori Ramen with Moringa topping, both were really delicious! The thinness and firmness of the noodles were perfect, and the soup was also very tasty. The water dumplings were also very delicious! I'm always concerned about the taste changing at ramen shops due to staff turnover, but here, the staff was the same as years ago and the taste remained unchanged and very delicious. If this restaurant was nearby, I would want to go every week! (lol)

After several years, I visited "Akano Ren" again. The location, the owner, the taste, and the prices all remained unchanged. I don't remember if they were the same, but I had a bowl of ramen for 850 yen, water dumplings for 450 yen, and a bottle of beer for 750 yen. It was very delicious. I would like to go back again if I'm nearby.

Visited around 7 pm on a weekday. There was no line, and the restaurant was about 60% full. It took about 5 minutes until the ramen was served. I ordered the regular ramen (850 yen) with extra green onions (200 yen). You order at the counter. This shop is a long-established ramen shop with over 40 years of history. The soup is not too strong in flavor, likely to be well-received by everyone. Rather than a prominent pork bone flavor, the seasoning stands out more. The soup is delicious, but personally, I thought it would be nice if the pork bone aroma was a bit stronger. The noodles are thin and slightly firm, cooked al dente as the default. This type of noodles is common in tonkotsu ramen, and I think it goes well with this soup. The chashu consists of two thick slices. The firm and flavorful loin meat is tasty. I think ordering the chashu ramen would also be a good choice. The extra green onions had a slight spiciness to them. They may be fresh, but personally, I think it would be better if the spiciness was less noticeable. Red Noren is a well-loved veteran ramen shop in Tokyo. I enjoyed a bowl filled with history. If I have the chance to come again, I want to try the chashu ramen.

I often visit this ramen shop because it's open until 5am. It's one of my favorite ramen shops. If you like Hakata ramen, you can't go wrong here. It tends to get crowded at night with people finishing up their drinking sessions. There might be a short wait, but the turnover is quick so you'll get seated soon.

Located beyond Roppongi Hills, just before the intersection of Nishi-Azabu, down the hill from Roppongi Station, is the Akaren Hakkata Menbo Nishi-Azabu Main Store. Despite it being past the lunch rush, the restaurant was almost full when I visited around 1:30 pm. Luckily, there was one table available so I could be seated right away. I ordered the Charumen Ma Men for 1200 yen and the Mentaiko Rice for 400 yen. As a fan of tonkotsu ramen, I found this place quite enjoyable, even though I've never tried authentic tonkotsu ramen from Hakata. I liked the richness and depth of flavor in the ramen. The thinness of the menma added a nice texture to the dish. The only slight downside was that the noodles felt a bit powdery, but with the high turnover of customers, it's understandable. I heard the boiled dumplings are also delicious, so I plan to try them next time. I will definitely visit again when I'm in the area. It was a very tasty meal. Thank you.

I heard that the Hakata ramen at Akanoren in Nishi-Azabu is delicious, so I decided to stop by. The restaurant was full during lunchtime, with people lining up outside. Luckily, I was able to get in without waiting. The shop is located about 250 meters past Roppongi Hills from Roppongi Station, on the left side of the street. The interior has an old-fashioned Chinese soba shop atmosphere. Although I initially wanted to try the regular ramen, I ended up ordering the Char-ma ramen. The tonkotsu soup was not too rich or light, just right with a good depth of flavor and no unpleasant smell. However, the noodles seemed a bit powdery, possibly due to being cooked in a pot that was not clean during the busy lunch rush. Despite this, I still managed to finish the meal. I would like to give it another try in the future. I noticed that many customers were ordering water dumplings, so I plan to try them next time as well.

Returning home on a Toei bus to Shinbashi, I had to walk quite a bit to cross the other side of Roppongi Street. On my way to the pedestrian crossing, I passed by a shop that has always caught my attention, "Hakata Menbo Akano Ren Nishi-Azabu Main Store." I had visited a branch of this shop along the street where the Wagyu Mafia is located before, and it was delicious, so I had wanted to try the main store as well. Passing by this shop always makes me feel like I've been drinking in Roppongi. It was around 8:30 pm on a weekday and the restaurant was almost full, with customers continuing to come in. The half portion of ramen was 850 yen, slightly thicker noodles than typical Kyushu ramen, with the firmness slightly on the softer side. The pork bone soup had a rich flavor with no strange taste or smell, especially satisfying after drinking. It was the first time I saw menma in Kyushu ramen. There were red pickled ginger, a grater, and chili pepper on the table for flavor adjustment, but I finished it in no time. It seems there is also a branch in Marunouchi Building, so I will try visiting there next time.
