Maki, a restaurant in Ehime that uses natural red sea bream to serve "red sea bream rice" in a traditional Japanese style, has opened its third branch in Kyoto, following the ones in Kinkakuji and Shijo Kawaramachi. While the Kinkakuji and Kawaramachi branches offered set meals, this branch in Teramachi serves red sea bream rice bowls, making it a more casual dining experience. The red sea bream rice bowl (1680 yen) is made with red sea bream caught in the Seto Inland Sea, aged to bring out its flavor, and served with homemade slightly sweet soy sauce broth. The broth is delicious! You can also enjoy red sea bream ochazuke (220 yen) by pouring warm broth from the red sea bream over rice towards the end of your meal. The restaurant is open from 11:00 to 20:00.
