It's been 4 years, but the rich soup and chewy noodles are still delicious! This restaurant has been a regular for us, visiting 1-2 times a month. Personally, I only eat miso ramen here. Since the pandemic, it's been about 3 years since we last came. My wife and I ordered our usual miso ramen with extra vegetables and garlic. Our son tried the spicy miso for the first time! Just as we finished ordering, a line of about 10 people formed. We were seated in about 5 minutes. They must have already been cooking because our bowls arrived quickly! I realized later that I sat separately and there was a mix-up with my order, so the extra vegetables and garlic I ordered went to the customer after me. However, the miso ramen we had after a long time was delicious as always! The intense soup and well-cooked vegetables blended together like a stew, creating a unique flavor that other miso ramen doesn't have. Personally, I think shichimi pepper goes better than black pepper! The combination of vegetables and the sweetness of the fat is unbeatable! My son is currently a tonkotsu ramen fan, but he seemed to have rediscovered the deliciousness of this miso ramen he used to eat as a child, especially with the spiciness of the spicy miso. He plans to visit the Ikebukuro branch after school next time. This delicious miso ramen may become a regular again after this experience!

There are several miso specialty shops in Tokyo, and our shop is located between Ueno and Okachimachi. There is a 10-person wait at 7 pm, but the turnover seems to be fast. I don't particularly like miso ramen, but I came here while running errands because my favorite chiropractor highly recommends it. Extra vegetables and garlic are free, and the vegetables are stir-fried. The noodles from Mikawaya are almost like yellow pasta. The soup is relatively light and not very oily, with a mild taste like adding soba soup to potage. It is certainly a unique miso ramen.

On a regular day at 1825 Ramen, I decided to try it out after wandering around and seeing a short line outside. There were 4 people in front of me, including some foreigners. I ordered the miso ramen with flavored egg and chashu for 1180 yen, with extra vegetables and garlic. You buy a meal ticket first before lining up to order. The bean sprouts under the chashu were moist rather than crunchy, which I liked. The portion of vegetables was decent, but not as generous as other Jiro-style ramen places. The flavored egg was rich in taste. In terms of value for money, it was not bad. However, it didn't leave a strong impression overall.

The payment is cash only with a food ticket system. I ordered miso ramen and added extra vegetables and garlic. During lunchtime, rice is served as a complimentary side and ramen can be made into a large portion for free. Since I ordered rice, I didn't get the large ramen. The ramen was delicious, but I should have gotten the large portion. The amount of rice served was like an offering for the Buddhist altar. The ramen was very tasty with a good amount of garlic. Thank you for the meal.

Ordered Spicy Miso Ramen with extra vegetables and garlic, and a soft-boiled egg. The thick noodles are delicious with the rich miso soup. The soup is rich, but the fragrant vegetables blend in well, allowing you to taste the umami flavor. The white leeks as condiments are also good.

I visited on a weekend night. The restaurant was almost full, with people waiting outside. This was my second visit, as I forgot to write a review after my first visit. I remember enjoying the miso ramen the first time, so this time I tried the tsukemen. I bought a ticket for the miso tsukemen for 1000 yen. They offered free extra vegetables and garlic all day, so I asked for extra vegetables and garlic. The seating was by the entrance, so I couldn't see the back, but I think they only have counter seats. The food arrived in about 15 minutes. The sound of vegetables being stir-fried was nice. The noodles were medium thickness and chewy. The soup was full of vegetables, mainly bean sprouts, cabbage, and green onions. There were also fresh green onions on top, along with chashu and menma. The miso and dashi flavor was delicious. In terms of how it mixed with the soup, I felt that miso ramen would be better than tsukemen with miso flavor. Adding grated garlic halfway through enhanced the flavor. There were paper aprons on the ticket machine, and tissues and a water pitcher on the table, which was convenient. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant at 2:00 PM on a weekday. Since the peak hours had passed, I was able to enter without waiting in line. The interior of the restaurant had only a counter with a few empty seats, and it was surprisingly crowded. I purchased a meal ticket at the entrance of the store. Everyone was ordering the regular type, but it was hot so I decided to order the spicy miso dipping noodles for ¥1360. I added extra garlic and vegetables for free without hesitation. Rice was also free, but I decided to skip it. The staff will ask if you want extra toppings or rice, so you can feel at ease. The amount of noodles was truly overwhelming. The noodles were thick and satisfying to eat. The soup was filled with extra vegetables. When I added the egg and chashu as side ingredients, the soup became so full that there was no room for the noodles. The taste was delicious, but the portion was so large that I struggled to finish it. In the end, I realized that I still prefer seafood broth. I'm sorry.

Hanada @ Ueno Store revisited. Came here with a companion who wanted to eat delicious miso ramen. Arrived at the store at 20:30 with a group of 4 people. It seems like there are more foreign tourists returning recently. Oh, wait. Turns out they are closed on Tuesdays now. And their closing time changed from 22:30 to 22:25. Wonder what the reason was for the 5-minute reduction? Doesn't seem like a big difference to me. Oh well. We decided to go with the basic ramen options.
- Miso Ramen ¥980 with extra vegetables and garlic for me.
- Miso Ramen ¥980 with fewer vegetables for my companion.
While waiting, I observed that there were 4 staff members. Some Asian foreign customers were having trouble communicating their preferences for vegetable quantity and garlic. The kitchen seemed a bit chaotic. When I ordered extra garlic last time, I got overwhelmed with the amount served, so this time I asked for just a little in a small dish. And here it is! The portion of vegetables seems to have decreased significantly. The soup is rich, but not as thick as before. It used to be super thick, but now it's more of a standard miso soup. Still tasty, though. Maybe this change is more appealing to the average person.
The noodles are thick and have a firm texture, made by Mikawa-ya. They are delicious. The chashu pork is so tender it falls apart. And the garlic adds a nice flavor kick. Overall, while it's still delicious, it seems to have lost that unique, standout flavor it used to have. It's now just a regular miso ramen. Rating: ★3.5
Also, there were several mistakes in serving the dishes and taking orders, so maybe some more training is needed. It felt like they could use some more basic education on customer service. Thank you for the meal.

Spicy miso ramen with flavored egg, extra vegetables and garlic. It's not very spicy. The flavored egg was delicious with a strong seasoning. The ramen was tasty but felt a bit lacking. The garlic went really well with the soup so I recommend adding extra. If it's nearby, I might go occasionally.

This is probably my fifth time here, and it's always crowded. It's hot inside and the orders are slow. Despite the complaints, the taste is good. I don't like that there's not enough soup. I wish they would improve the air conditioning because it barely works.

I used it for lunchtime!! I've been hooked on miso ramen lately. I had it with extra vegetables for free and plenty of bean sprouts. The miso ramen had a classic taste, and the chashu was deliciously tender. I even added rice at the end to finish off the soup. It was delicious!

I had been to the main store in Ikebukuro before, but this was my first time at the Ueno store. The miso ramen here is simple yet rich in flavor, perfect for miso ramen lovers. I also appreciated that they offer free extra vegetables, allowing you to enjoy plenty of healthy greens. As a fan of spicy food, I was happy to see that there was a bottle of chili pepper on the table for me to adjust the spiciness to my liking.

I tried to go to another restaurant but it was closed, so I visited this one instead. I ordered miso tsukemen and it was delicious with stir-fried bean sprouts and cabbage in the dipping sauce. The restaurant was moderately busy and the atmosphere was cool and nice.

Miso tsukemen with half-boiled egg - first visit! I went before going to the sauna. It is located around halfway between Ueno Station and Okachimachi Station. I visited around 18:30 on a holiday and waited about 15 minutes to get in. The rich and mild miso soup paired with chewy thick noodles was delightful. The balance between the miso richness and the animal-based soup was exquisite. The bowl was filled with plenty of vegetables, and it paired really well with garlic. It's a comforting bowl of noodles. I definitely want to go back to try the spicy miso tsukemen and butter topping. If you love miso, be sure to give it a try!

On this day, whether by chance or not, night after night, steam bath conditions, with steam rising from the sizzling pot, like a poorly air-conditioned yakiniku restaurant. Despite this, customers eat quietly, sweating profusely, ordering miso ramen with extra vegetables and garlic. They add more through the ticket machine and inform the staff. The water from the pot is lukewarm. After the meal, sweat drips down as they walk towards Ueno Station.

The nearest station is JR Ueno Station, a 5-minute walk away. I used it as a place to end the night with a drink. I purchased the Ajitama Miso Chashu Ramen (1,190 yen) at the ticket machine and was able to sit down without waiting since it was still early. The seat I chose was in the middle of the counter, where the heat from the cooking pot was quite strong and hot. The ramen arrived in less than 10 minutes. The Ajitama Miso Chashu Ramen had a thick pork bone-based miso soup with a nice blend of miso flavors that was easy to drink. The noodles were thick straight noodles with a slightly sweet and chewy texture that paired well with the soup. The toppings included chashu, seasoned egg, vegetables, green onions, and bamboo shoots. The chashu was large and light, but it went well with the soup. Towards the end, changing the taste with minced garlic on a separate plate also added a nice touch. I really enjoyed the flavor, but I ended up sweating a lot due to the heat. The staff seemed used to it and didn't seem too bothered by the heat. I would be happier if the air conditioning was a bit more effective. I will visit again when it cools down a bit. Thank you for the meal.

Arrived at 7:35 PM on July 31, 2023, there were four people waiting. I purchased a spicy miso char siu dipping noodles ticket for 1,360 yen and entered the store immediately. I have a point card, and on Mondays, it is triple points. The noodles were served at 7:51 PM. At first, I thought the portion looked small, but it was actually quite filling. The soup was packed with ingredients, so I didn't need the char siu or boiled egg. It was delicious at first, but as I got deeper into the bowl, I started to feel overwhelmed and got tired of it. Next time, I'll stick with the regular dipping noodles, which will be enough.

Today, I visited Menya Hanada Ueno in Taito-ku, Tokyo. It is a popular restaurant that is always crowded, located on the opposite side of the street from Ameyoko with a lot of energy. It is a very convenient location for those who drive. However, the monthly parking in Ueno is quite expensive, costing more than 50,000 yen per month. I was quite surprised by this. The restaurant is located on the left side of the ticket machine at the storefront, and I ordered miso ramen and chashu noodles for multiple people. I was asked if I wanted extra vegetables, so I decided to go for it. In this restaurant, they also ask if you want extra garlic, etc. when you buy the ticket. The counter-only restaurant has about 12 seats and 4 staff members, mainly consisting of friendly and well-trained Hong Kong and Nepalese employees. The interior of the restaurant lets in outside air, so it can get hot in the summer, but it wasn't uncomfortably hot. The noodles arrived in about 7 minutes. They were thick, curly, wavy, low-hydration noodles typical of Menya Hanada. The toppings included plenty of stir-fried vegetables due to my extra vegetable request, giving it a hearty texture. Another unique feature of this place is that they provide minced garlic on a separate plate for everyone. The soup had a rich miso flavor supported by a strong pork bone base. The combination of chashu and vegetables such as bean sprouts, cabbage, onions, and green onions created a perfect match. The exquisite pairing of the noodles and soup is what attracts countless miso ramen fans to this place. I will definitely visit again. Thank you very much.

Miso Ramen for 980 yen. I couldn't forget the taste I had in Ikebukuro, so I visited again. The medium-thick noodles from Mikawa-ya Seimen were slightly angular and cooked just right. They stir-fried bean sprouts and cabbage thoroughly, added miso and soup, and mixed it well. The rich flavor was amazing. The saltiness was just right and addictive. It came with thick, tender chashu on top. It's a bit on the expensive side, but I will definitely visit again.

I ordered a normal miso ramen with medium-thick noodles and typical toppings. What stood out to me was the vegetable stir-fry made after I placed my order, with a rich sesame oil aroma that complemented the rich miso soup very well. Overall, the impression is more of a traditional, solidly made miso ramen rather than something innovative. Recommended for those who prefer a grounded miso ramen experience.

I came here because I wanted to eat a thick miso ramen! I love spicy food, so I chose the spicy miso without hesitation! I topped it with a boiled egg, but the color of the egg white was a bit disappointing. As expected, it was thick and satisfying to eat, and delicious, but it lacked spiciness. I ended up sprinkling a lot of table chili peppers on it! For those who are not good with too much spiciness, it might be just right!
