Kyoto is a bit hard to find, located on the second floor of a building in Shijo Kawaramachi, a beef noodle shop. It used to be easy to understand with a ticket machine, but now it has switched to tablet ordering. Even though I had been there before, I couldn't figure out how to select the noodles or the amount of cilantro and chili oil. I tried asking the staff, but they didn't understand Japanese, which was disappointing. After struggling, I managed to order medium noodles, 3 slices of beef, normal amount of chili oil, and double the cilantro for 890 yen. Ordering was a challenge, but the medium noodles were very delicious, and the beef and cilantro were also good. I couldn't figure out what else was available on the tablet, but there was a promotional brochure on the table. It's frustrating.

I visited the restaurant after 8:30 PM and the interior was bright and clean. I was seated at the counter and ordered the "Angus beef noodle soup" with medium noodles, normal amount of cilantro, and normal amount of chili oil for 890 yen. The bowl came with special beef, sliced daikon radish, egg, and cilantro on top, with chili oil drizzled over it. I tried the soup first without mixing in the chili oil, and it had a gentle and mild saltiness with a comforting beef bone flavor. When I added the chili oil, it added a bit of spiciness, but not too much, and the strong aroma of cilantro was noticeable. The noodles were smooth, slippery, and had a good chew to them, typical of hand-pulled noodles. I added a bit of black vinegar as suggested in the menu, which gave the soup a strong sourness and vinegar flavor, which might be divisive. The egg was soft-boiled with a slightly runny yolk, and the special beef had a firm texture with a light flavor that paired well with the soup. Despite the lightness of the soup, the generous portion of noodles provided a satisfying meal.

After a long time, I had some sweet orchid beef noodles. While nearby shops had long lines, this place was empty. Gradually, customers started coming in, mostly Chinese. The beef noodles here taste almost the same as Chinese beef noodles, giving a sense of nostalgia to those who have lived there before. The menu has expanded since my last visit, and more additions are expected in the future. It's not particularly delicious, but it's a taste that you suddenly crave. Side dishes range from 110 yen to 190 yen, making it economical. The beef noodles without cilantro cost 790 yen! It's a great deal!

Near Kawaramachi, I needed to have a light meal, and I finally decided to try this restaurant that I had been passing by. I usually only eat instant ramen, but when it comes to Chinese Lanzhou noodles (which are different from Japanese ramen in terms of ingredients and preparation), I would go out of my way to find and try them, even during my stay in China. It was nice to see black vinegar on the table. Visit date: June 11, 2023. Number of visits: 1st visit. Restaurant name: Kanran Beef Noodle Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi Main Store. Menu: Kanran beef noodles 790 yen (3 pieces of meat). Payment: PayPay (vending machine).

Last time I felt a bit disappointed with the thin noodles, so this time I chose medium-thick noodles. I love cilantro, so I asked for double the amount and was happy to see a huge pile of it on a separate plate. I also ordered a beer, and the total came to 1390 yen. The medium-thick noodles had a nice chewiness and were tastier than I expected. It's completely different from Japanese ramen, but I find the unique flavor interesting.

I didn't know about it... Clear beef bone soup with red chili oil, no green cilantro, you can choose normal, or extra, which is great for cilantro lovers. I'm not good with spicy food, so I was a bit nervous, but I was able to eat it smoothly and it wasn't spicy at all. The location is great, just a few seconds from Kawaramachi in Kyoto. There are also several branches in Osaka and Tokyo, so you should check them out.

Located right next to Kawaramachi Station, this ramen shop operates on a ticket vending machine system. I tried the cold mixed noodles "Kanran Colorful Mixed Noodles" for 890 yen. I was impressed by the beauty of the mixed noodles brought to me! Homemade flat noodles with colorful carrot and coriander vegetable toppings, along with beef, all topped with a special sweet and spicy sauce! The smooth flat noodles have a great texture and are incredibly delicious. The ethnic sweet and spicy sauce is to my liking. The soup, which is gentle on the body, reminds me of the deliciousness of Vietnam! Thank you for the meal.

When I passed by the shop, I smelled something good, so I decided to go in. Sweet and spicy beef noodles for 890 yen. I chose the firm triangular noodles! The firm noodles go well with the spicy beef soup, and it's very delicious. It comes with four slices of chashu. The soft chashu that is easy to pull apart is also delicious! It comes with an egg. I asked for no cilantro.

I was surprised to find a reasonably priced Chinese beef noodle restaurant in Kawaramachi. For some reason, my stomach felt warm and satisfied. The handmade noodles had a great texture and the flavor was consistent. It was a moment that warmed both my body and soul. If you ever feel a bit hungry, I recommend stopping by here for a bowl. It was very delicious.

Kyoto is a beef noodle shop located on the second floor of a building in Shijo Kawaramachi. It's completely different from Japanese ramen. This time, I had the thin noodles with 3 slices of beef, regular cilantro, and regular chili oil for 790 yen. It's decently priced. It might be a good option when you're tired of Japanese ramen. However, I couldn't enjoy the spicy flavor or the recommended black vinegar for flavor change. It didn't taste good. The thin noodles were slimy and lacked elasticity. Next time, I might try the medium-thick noodles with double cilantro. Oh, and the ticket machine was easier to understand now. They added a confirmation button.

Unexpectedly finishing work earlier than expected, I left the site feeling a bit lost. After wandering around Kyoto Station, I decided to kill time until check-in time. I went to the end of the subway line, but there wasn't much to see. I returned to buy some snacks at the basement of Daimaru department store, checked in, took a nap, and watched TV while eating snacks, but still felt bored. I remembered I had never ridden the Hankyu Kyoto Line all the way to Umeda, so I decided to give it a try. I got off at a couple of stations on the way but didn't find anything interesting, so I got back on the train. I decided to have dinner around Kawaramachi Station and saw a sign for Taiwanese beef noodles. Although I thought it seemed like something you could find in Tokyo, I was curious and decided to try it. There were four types of noodles to choose from, and I chose flat noodles. When the noodles arrived, the clear soup was calming, but the exotic aroma made me restless. After taking a sip of the soup, I felt a gentle and refreshing taste mixing with the stimulating aroma of cilantro, creating a strange feeling. Adding some spiciness transformed the taste into a continental style, making me excited. It turns out they also have locations in Tokyo and are planning to expand further. I thought I would try thin noodles next time. And that's how my day of noodles ended.

Thursday 7:30 PM, I went to Amaranth Beef Noodle. There was one group of customers ahead of me. You have to choose your order from a ticket machine, which was a bit confusing at first. I ordered the flat noodles for 890 yen, with customizable options for noodle and cilantro amounts. I think I ordered something pretty standard with flat noodles. The staff spoke Chinese, which added to the authentic atmosphere. I arrived at 7:36 PM. The aroma was incredibly exotic, different from the usual cilantro scent (though the cilantro was also quite strong). There were instructions on how to eat on the tray paper, mentioning chili oil, but there was only a round container of black vinegar on the table (maybe the chili oil was already in the broth at the bottom of the bowl). The flat noodles were about 1 cm thick and quite heavy when picked up with chopsticks. The broth was watery, so be careful not to splash it. The vinegar on the table was not your ordinary vinegar - it was black and had a unique taste. Adding it gave the broth a rich flavor (be careful not to add too much). Overall, I thought it would be nice to have one more standout feature. Thank you for the meal.

Lanzhou beef noodles are not advertised, but is that what it is? It was a somewhat dreary evening on a weekday. Feeling a bit hungry but not sure where to go, I wandered around the area near Kawaramachi Station like a lively zombie and stumbled upon a sign. "Sweet Lanzhou Beef Noodles" for 890 yen. Is it expensive? Although it's similar to Lanzhou beef noodles, you can specify the thickness (shape) of the noodles using a touch panel. I can't remember what I specified, but I chose thin noodles. After waiting at my table for about 10 minutes, the dish arrived. It consisted of daikon, beef?, chopped coriander, and red sauce. There were instructions on how to eat it as well. I followed the instructions and tried it. Hmm? It feels kind of bland. The soup is decent, with some spiciness, but it doesn't really mix well with the noodles. Are these noodles made of rice flour? Even so...the soup has some spiciness and is decent, but lacks depth. The noodles are like a multi-verse of madness. They don't mix at all. The daikon is the same. It doesn't mix. They are very independent. Therefore, I do not recommend it. Maybe changing the noodles or something could bring some redemption, but for now, let's just say it was okay given the lack of other options at the time.

I tried the Gan Lan beef noodles. When I looked at the homepage, I found out that Gan Lan beef noodles are also known as Lanzhou beef ramen, one of the top ten ramen dishes in China, a regional dish from Lanzhou, Gansu Province. The soup is clear, with daikon, chili oil, coriander, scallions, and the noodles are creamy in color. The authentic Chinese dish features a light beef bone soup with a hint of spices and the richness of beef flavor. It has a medicinal taste and seems good for the body. You can enjoy a different taste by adding vinegar halfway through.

I visited the restaurant for lunch on April 1st, 2022, Friday, but there were no customers inside. It may be because the restaurant has just recently opened, or perhaps it's not the ideal weather for ramen as it's getting warmer. I ordered the Sweet Orchid Beef Noodles. Chain restaurants are becoming more common in Kyoto. You fill out an order sheet with details like noodle thickness and cilantro amount, then hand it to the staff. The soup had a light taste that paired well with the hand-pulled noodles. It had a unique deliciousness to it. I added extra chili oil and vinegar, and finished the meal. It was delicious.

Located in the heart of the tourist area of Shijo Kawaramachi and Takase River, this place may seem like a chain restaurant at first glance, but it offers high-quality food. I warmed up with the soup that had chili peppers in it. The noodles had a good firmness and were delicious. Be sure to add cilantro to your dish!

It's a nice restaurant with a calm atmosphere, where you can place detailed orders using a machine. It's a great place in today's high-cost world where you can get ramen starting from 490 yen.
