In Kyoto, I really wanted to eat matcha sweets. However, after 9 pm, it was hard to find any places open, so I stumbled upon a matcha parfait sign and decided to go in (laughs). Bunk Sandwiches' shop is also in Tokyo, so some may question whether it's worth visiting during a Kyoto trip, but it looked delicious. The matcha was wrapped in a waffle with matcha ice cream, cream, kinako, shiratama, and anmitsu. The matcha didn't have a special taste, but it filled me up and was just right for a night stroll.

The No.1 sandwich shop in the United States! The popular Polish sandwich shop, BANK SANDWICHES, has opened in the Kansai area for the first time in Kyoto Kawaramachi! They offer a variety of hot sandwiches made with high-quality ingredients, with 8 different options on the menu. It's great that they offer both regular and half sizes, making it convenient for when you want a light meal or want to try two different sandwiches. I tried the Pork Belly Cubano (R size 870 yen), which won an award at the All-American Sandwich Contest. It's filled with plenty of roast pork and the bread is baked until crispy on the outside, with gooey cheese inside. You can enjoy your meal on the terrace or on the second floor, and they also offer takeout options.

In Shokuyakushi Street, there is a new shop where I had a delicious lunch. I ordered the Pulled Pork Cheddar Sandwich with a side of French fries and a straight tea, which came to a total of 1110 yen. I sat at the counter on the second floor with a view of the outside through the window. The toast was nicely grilled with cheese on top and the pulled pork (shredded pork) was flavorful. The potatoes were also tasty. It was a great lunchtime experience, especially with the option of ordering a small size for the food menu.

Today, I visited a hot sandwich shop located on Takoyakushi Street in the Kawaramachi area.
BUNK SANDWICHES is a specialty shop for hot sandwiches originally from Portland, USA. It has recently landed in Japan, with previous locations mainly in the Kanto region. This time, they opened their first store in the Kansai area as the "Kyoto Kawaramachi store."
The store looked fresh and new, with customers waiting for takeout. Orders were placed at the register near the entrance on the first floor.
Their most popular item is the "Pork Belly Bacuono," which won an award at the National Sandwich Contest. They also offer original sandwiches like the "Meatball Parmigiana" and "Italian Salami Olympia," which can only be enjoyed at BUNK SANDWICHES.
Sandwiches are available in regular and small sizes, with prices remaining affordable.
The second floor has large windows overlooking Takoyakushi Street, creating a bright and open atmosphere. The staff brought my ordered sandwich to me.
I tried the "Meatball Parmigiana," which had meatballs sandwiched between the bread, topped with tomato sauce and cheese. The cheese was torched on the surface, giving off a delightful aroma. The warm and crispy bread texture, along with the cozy meatballs and flavorful cheese, made for a delicious experience.
Overall, I enjoyed the trendy hot sandwich in a bright and open space. It's a lovely location to visit on a sunny day.
