The lighting is dim at first, making it seem like there's a power outage until your eyes adjust. The owner is very kind, and the atmosphere with regulars and new customers is great, very calming. The draft Premium Malt's beer here is the best in Kyoto, in my opinion. Definitely try the carefully poured Premium Malt's by the owner. They also have a wide selection of single malts and delicious cocktails. Recently, they added a sofa area (separate room), but even if it's empty, first-time visitors are never seated there because they can't keep an eye on them (laughs). The sofa area has a great atmosphere too, so it's good to become a regular and keep it in mind for a leisurely second or third round in the Pontocho area.

When you hear that someone who used to work at K6 has started their own place, you might expect a trendy bar like Rosebank, El Tesoro, or Rocking Chair, or maybe even a new K6-style bar in Kyoto. However, the reality is quite different. The bar "羊歯" is nothing like those mentioned above. They don't have champagne, seasonal fruits, or a wide selection of whiskey. They don't even have the colorful lights you'd expect in a cocktail bar. It seems like a place where beer is the main focus, and only the regulars who really love the place keep coming back for the beer. The owner is friendly and welcoming.
