Makutsu (lol) "Takase Kaikan" in Koya-cho. This place is a 60-year-old wooden two-story building with small shops ranging from 3 to 5 tatami mats crowded inside. It's located on the second floor, to the right after going up the stairs. I was taken there by an artist acquaintance at first. The handmade lighting fixtures inside and outside looked familiar to me. When I asked, it turned out that the interior construction was also done by the artist S, whom I had worked with in Oita, Kyushu. It was his sister-in-law's shop. Because of this connection, I often go drinking in Koya-cho. It's common to have two drinks for 1000 yen, which is cheap. They also serve food. However, the shops are small so it's often crowded and sometimes you can't get in. But that's part of the charm of this maze-like place, you can easily flow into different shops. There are many shops I want to write about in Takase Kaikan, but sometimes I forget, so it's hard to write about them haha.
