I chose the Fried Rice and Sweet and Sour Pork Bento (712 yen) because I wanted to eat sweet and sour pork and fried rice. It was delicious even without reheating. I bought the bento box, went up to the ground at SUIMA, and dashed to the hotel in the pouring rain with thunder rumbling. I checked in at Toyoko Inn. *Is there a discount for rainy days...? I don't know because I bought it quickly.

I purchased the Chinese Sammi Bento for 1200 yen. The black vinegar pork, shredded pork with green peppers, spring rolls, and salt-fried squid were all delicious! Especially the marinated eggplant had a rich flavor. I didn't really like the glass noodle salad and pickled vegetables, but everything else was incredibly tasty. It was a luxury to be able to eat such high-quality food for 1200 yen including tax. I was surprised by the size of the shrimp in the shrimp chili. I definitely want to buy it again.

To lift my somewhat gloomy mood, I decided to visit the department store basement food section. Here at Kyoto Daimaru, they offer a special service called "Rainy Day Deals" where each store competes to offer discounted items on rainy days. Today was my first time shopping here. The "Rainy Day Deal" at this place was 5 spring rolls for 500 yen, which would normally cost 750 yen for 5. I also got 150 grams of 10-vegetable Chinese salad for 302 yen. Since 5 spring rolls were too much for me, I shared some with a friend. I heated them up and made my own mustard dip. The spring rolls were delicious and filled with ingredients. The value for money at 100 yen per roll was great. The Chinese salad had a variety of vegetables like broccoli, carrots, baby corn, greens, shiitake mushrooms, chickpeas, lotus root, lentils, and black beans. It was a delightful meal.

I didn't feel like going anywhere or buying anything exciting, so I just picked up some dishes for dinner from "Shanghai DELI Daimaru Kyoto store," a Chinese deli run by Kakiyasu. They are well-known for their Chinese side dishes and salads. My favorite dish there is the "Youlinji," which is a Chinese dish of fried chicken with a sweet vinegar soy sauce. The chicken is fried slowly to make it juicy. I had to work a little overtime today, so I got a 20% discount. I don't think the mistake at work was a good thing, but it wasn't all bad. I have bought from Shanghai DELI many times, and I always get drawn in by the shiny glaze on their dishes. The sweet vinegar soy sauce from Shanghai DELI is thick, making it easy to coat the chicken. Tonight's dinner was mainly the Youlinji. Once again, my fridge was empty, with no vegetables or eggs.

When I casually went to the restaurant at 7:30 PM, everything was 40% off. I bought sweet and sour pork and Jajangmyeon, and it cost 839 yen for both. The Jajangmyeon had a lot of toppings and was spicy and delicious, with thin noodles. The sweet and sour pork had a slight smell of pork, with less sweetness and a strong sour taste. There was plenty of meat in it, but I don't think I would buy it again for 800 yen with this taste.
