The saltiness of the broad beans and the sweetness of the rice cracker dough are exquisite, making it hard to stop once you start eating. It's a taste that is likely to be enjoyed by a wide range of age groups. About 70% of it is made up of broad beans, and it was so delicious that it seems to be becoming a staple souvenir of Kyoto due to its reasonable price.

First bite: "Huh?... Oh, what's this?"
Second bite: "Mmm, mmm."
Third bite: "Hey, this is really delicious."
When I tasted it, I was pleasantly surprised. Snacks made from flour usually meet expectations, but this one exceeded them by far. The saltiness complements the beans and brown rice perfectly. Each one is hand-made, which sets it apart from mass-produced items. I bought it as a souvenir and have been enjoying it at home, and I'm even more impressed by the depth of its flavor. Once you start eating, it's hard to stop. I will definitely buy it again. Happiness rating: ★★★★★

In front of the store, they were baking bean-filled rice crackers. I tried a sample and it was delicious, but they only had large bags available so I was worried about finishing it all. Inside the store, there were cute Kyoto sweets, as well as miso and tsukudani on the right side, with separate payment. I bought cute bean daruma dolls, sweets from Itohken, and tsukudani with sansho pepper. The bean daruma dolls had a simple taste, crispy texture, and were very delicious. I noticed similar bean daruma dolls being sold in other stores but with different packaging. Surely a popular Kyoto snack! Itohken's "Asobi Ka" was surprising when opened, with rice crackers being just one piece and the rest being sweet snacks like drops, ramune, and biscuits. It might be good as a tea snack. It was a bag full of playful treats. The "Kokorobakari" rice cracker from "Kyoto Tsukimachian" was firm and had a strong black pepper flavor. It was a bit spicy for me, so I enjoyed it in 2-3 separate servings. The seller was "Kyoto Tsukimachian" and since there was no indication of the manufacturer, it seems like they may have it produced elsewhere. Is there a Tsukimachian brand?

(2013.01/First visit) On the way to Yasaka Shrine, I stopped by this shop for the first time. In front of the shop, there was a man who looked like a skilled pastry chef, diligently working with multiple baking tools to prepare the dough, add soybeans, shape the snacks, and bake them. I was captivated by his impressive craftsmanship and asked for permission to take a photo (which is the one attached here). The friendly man even let me try a freshly baked soybean cracker, which was delicious. It would be a perfect snack to enjoy with tea on a veranda while spending time with a cat. The soybean cracker being made in the demonstration was filled with small soybeans, and the slightly sweet and fragrant texture of the beans was really tasty. Thank you for the treat.

This is a shop in Nishiki that I always end up buying rice crackers from. They do live demonstrations at a shop a little further east, so I usually buy them there. They give you a freshly baked rice cracker to eat as you walk around, which is so nice. If you buy three bags, it's 1000 yen. There are so many beans in them that you can't tell if it's a rice cracker with beans or beans with a rice cracker, which makes me happy. Edamame and green peas are a must. The last one is a tough choice, but I also like the Fukiyose. They are small and easy to snack on, and they come in various flavors. That's why I can't resist this shop in Nishiki (laughs).

Nishiki Market is a place where you can enjoy shopping while sampling various foods, and this shop is one of those places. The artisan is grilling freshly made Kyoto senbei with lots of beans right at the storefront, and they are deliciously crispy. The senbei also look beautiful. While I was admiring the products, the shop staff approached me and said, "It's 1,000 yen for 3 bags." My companion almost got tempted to buy 3 bags, but it wasn't necessary. Let's be careful not to buy too much.
