まなせか
This time in Kyoto, we explored a new restaurant specializing in duck dishes for lunch on Shijo Street. The lunch course starts from 1,900 yen. You can change the main dish, switch white rice to a bowl, add coffee, etc., which will affect the price. First, a vegetable salad was served. Alongside a salad of duck and onsen tamago (hot spring egg) was a side of green Kujo green onion dressing, surprisingly light and refreshing. Overall, the flavors were subtly delicate. Next, an assortment of appetizers was served. A warm vegetable croquette filled with mushrooms, marinated cherry tomatoes, nama-fu (wheat gluten) and yuba (tofu skin), tofu butter gratin, mentaiko fish cake, miso-glazed eggplant, all enjoyed with a plum wine soda mix. For the main course, duck leg was served for me, while my companion had duck loin. Both were delicious, but I preferred the leg. My companion wished for a bit more in terms of portion size. It would be nice if you could add an extra dish a la carte. The rice was changed from white rice to a mini bowl of duck tartare style. It was delicious until the end. Finally, a seasonal parfait was served. I initially thought it would be a small glass size, but it was a regular size filled with fruits, wheat gluten, and ice cream. There was no sponge cake or cornflakes, just a true dessert assortment. You could choose from three types of ice cream, so I chose matcha, vanilla, and strawberry sherbet marble. With such a satisfying meal at this price, I was content! However, upon looking at the evening menu, my companion regretted not coming at night to enjoy a hearty duck meal. Otherwise, it's like the Taketei in Nagoya or Fushimi. Nevertheless, we enjoyed a delicious meal. Thank you for the feast.
