I stayed at a hotel and had breakfast. I wanted to go to the bar at night, so I made a reservation at the hotel, but I couldn't go due to a sudden matter. "Dashimaki Tamago (rolled omelette) and Gyudon (beef simmered in soy sauce) Dashi Chazuke (rice with tea poured over)" was just the right amount for breakfast, with a comforting taste. I was happy that it came with salad and pickles. The coffee was lukewarm. The hotel was clean and stylish, so I would like to use it again. Thank you very much.

I visited this café on the first floor of a hotel that recently started lunch service. The hotel seems to offer affordable accommodation starting from around 1,000 yen based on their website. Previously, they only had a breakfast menu from 7:00 to 10:30, but one day I noticed they had added a lunch menu. The café seemed to cater to inbound tourists as there were mostly foreigners in the café and lobby. I ordered the "Tonkatsu set (920 yen)" at the counter and helped myself to water and free-flowing iced coffee. There were various other drinks available at the counter, making it a good deal for those who want to relax and enjoy. Apart from lunch, they also offer a variety of dinner options and a wide range of drink choices in the evening. After a short wait, the "Tonkatsu set" was served, consisting of sweet and savory Tonkatsu with salad. The dark blue cup contained warm dashi, which could be enjoyed as ochazuke halfway through, creating a hybrid Tonkatsu set reminiscent of hitsumabushi. I decided to turn it into ochazuke after eating about half of the rice and tonkatsu. It had a slightly unusual taste, but the lunch menu was filling. The lunch menu also includes options like omurice, curry doria, loco moco set, soufflé pancakes, and French toast, so I look forward to visiting again. Thank you for the meal.

This time, I stayed at a modern hostel in Kyoto for one night, which was more like a hostel than a traditional inn. It was located near "Hanamachi Ryokan" in Higashiyama, where there were mostly foreign tourists. It seems like these types of hostels are becoming more popular, perhaps in anticipation of the Tokyo Olympics. The room I stayed in was slightly larger than a business hotel, with a two-story layout and beds that reminded me of MUJI HOTEL. Although there was no bathtub, I didn't mind that personally. After returning from "Rakuan," I had a drink at the cafe space on the first floor, where they served ham for 300 yen and pizza (I forgot the price). I enjoyed a Yamazaki whiskey for 1000 yen, which was a non-age statement whiskey that was still enjoyable despite the limited availability. I savored the pleasure of drinking (*゚▽゚)ノ Cheers! I went to bed quietly that night and the next morning, I had breakfast at the cafe space where I had been drinking Yamazaki the night before. They offered a choice of 3-5 dishes including Japanese and Western options. It was a typical hostel breakfast experience.

I went to the Gion Festival and stopped by for a light lunch. The tortilla was filled with lots of vegetables and the eggs were deliciously runny. The pancakes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, very tasty!

Breakfast in the hotel lobby. The taste of the vegan menu was not up to par with a regular cafe. The staff kept burping repeatedly, which was unpleasant.
