I used to go to this beloved restaurant in Kyoto, which used to have several locations, but now it's the only one left. This time, I bought the Special Kimchi Karaage Bento. It's quite delicious for the price. I recommend it when you want to eat a tasty bento without spending too much. The only downside is that it's hard to get there by car. The parking lot at Takashimaya is nearby, but on weekends and holidays, there's usually a long line of cars waiting to park, making it impossible to find a spot in front of the restaurant. Well, technically even if you find a spot, it's not allowed to park there because it would be street parking.

I stayed at R&B Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi Hotel today, which does not have a restaurant. Since I couldn't book a hotel with a restaurant, I bought a bento box for dinner from a bento shop across the street. I got the Special Hamburger Bento for 860 yen. There's a FamilyMart next door, but the quality of the bento from the bento shop is clearly superior. It was delicious! The freshly cooked rice and freshly grilled hamburger were so juicy. It's definitely a better deal than paying 1500 yen at a mediocre Western restaurant. R&B Hotel and Bento Kobo are a perfect combination!

I entered a restaurant for the first time (usually just passed by). I was surprised to see a wide variety of menu items. The interior of the restaurant had many samples on display. It took me a while to decide as there were so many options. So, I had someone choose for me (laughs) I had a special seaweed rice bowl (something like that). It had white rice topped with kombu and seaweed, and it was enough to eat on its own. The side dishes included croquettes, sweet potatoes and lotus root tempura, simmered beans, etc. The croquette was sweet and delicious. The Western-style bento box was luxurious! It had hamburger, white fish fry, shrimp fry, fried chicken, cream croquette, and underneath the fried items were pasta, rolled omelet, fish cake, potato salad, corn, and pickles. The fried items came with plenty of tartar sauce. The shrimp fry seemed to be straight out of the freezer though (laughs). Since they are open until late at night, I think it's convenient to visit.

On the way home again, I decided to get a bento box! It was my first time going there, and the menu was packed with so many different types of bento boxes that it was actually hard to choose! After some silence and pondering over what to get, I ended up choosing the Takana Bento (546 yen) and the Tonkatsu Bento Special (896 yen) that I saw in the sample. The taste was good, although the Tonkatsu Special was a bit pricey in my opinion. It's probably just the standard prices for the area. If the menu was a bit more user-friendly, I think it would be easier for first-time customers to make a decision.

I used it on my way home from work. There were so many types of bento to choose from that it took me some time, but I ended up choosing the recommended Chicken Chili Sauce and Hamburg Bento (800 yen)! They said that if you order a recommended bento, you can get a free extra serving of rice, which is a nice service. It takes about 10 minutes, so I thought it would be smoother to make a reservation in advance. The taste is homemade and delicious! It's also quite filling. I'll probably choose a recommended bento again next time because I'm sure I'll be indecisive, but it's a repeat for sure.笑

The shop near my house where you can take out bento boxes is great because they are handmade! It's nice to see them making the food while you wait. The price is around 700 yen and you get a good amount of food, perfect for lunch!! There are so many different options to choose from, it's fun to decide what to get next. There aren't many bento shops nearby, so I really rely on this one!! They also stay open late, so I'll definitely be going back for dinner too! 😊

Bento Workshop Shijo Kawaramachi Store in Kawaramachi, Kyoto! I often use it for lunch when I work in Kyoto. It's located along Kawaramachi Street, so it's easy to park your car, which is great. There are so many types of bento boxes, it always takes me a while to decide. I often order the hamburger bento! I think it was around 500 yen? The hamburger is juicy and filling, and the sunny-side-up egg makes it even more delicious. They have a wide variety of fried foods on the menu, and I recommend the fried chicken.
