I bought it for the first time. It was thicker than I expected, and I think it's quite cheap compared to buying Taiwanese castella elsewhere. The sweetness is mild, and it has a fluffy texture with a dense feel. I like things that are quite fluffy, so this is my evaluation, and I would like to buy it again when I pass by.

When Taiwan Castella became popular, I tried various items from convenience stores and bakeries, but found them lacking in distinctiveness. However, after trying the items from this store, I have come to love the fluffy texture and light, easy-to-eat sweetness. It's not too sweet, so I find myself eating it quickly. The classic plain flavor is delicious, but the matcha and red bean flavor is also tasty. Next, I plan to buy the brown sugar flavor.

The taste is still light and delicious as always. The initial excitement was amazing, but as I tried different dishes, the excitement faded. They had just finished baking and were slicing it. It was a holiday, but there was still about a third of what they baked last time left, so I had that, and it was pretty cold.

I tried Taiwanese Castella for the first time. It reminded me of Uncle Rikuro's cake without raisins. It was fluffy and very delicious. I had to wait 1 hour for the next batch at the store, so I bought it in advance, got a ticket, and went sightseeing in Kyoto before picking it up.

My daughter bought me a souvenir from her school trip. It was a Castella cake with a thick and fluffy texture. She bought the plain flavor, which was lightly sweet and delicious, similar to a souffle. I usually love the traditional dense Castella cake, but this one was also very tasty.

Let's go to Kyoto! \(^o^)/ On this day, I started my food log activities in Kyoto from the morning. The first place I lined up for was Kobarai (Fanpaipai) located in Shin Kyogoku, which opened at 11 am. This restaurant also has a branch in Nagoya's Osu, but I really wanted to visit the one in Kyoto that opened in February this year. When I looked at it from the top, I thought the ones on the edges were thicker, but when I asked to line up the one on the edge and the one in the middle, it turned out that the one in the middle was the tallest and the best. (I get called an "Obatarian" for paying attention to such details.) They only put it in a thin bag, so I bought a special box for 20 yen and took it to go. There is no eat-in space here, only takeout. Definitely the right choice to bring it in a box! It stayed in perfect shape until I got home. Oh ho ho ho! It's quite big! I was too full on the day I bought it, so I had it for breakfast the next day. As recommended, it was more moist and fluffy the next day. I'm glad I didn't eat it right away. It was really fluffy, moist, and melted in my mouth. So delicious!!! For those who like castella cake, I highly recommend trying the Taiwanese castella here! It's delicious and reasonably priced at 630 yen (including the box, 650 yen), so it would make a great souvenir. I was the first in line, so I was able to film for YouTube, but the line got really long after me. Despite the declaration of a state of emergency, my family had an important errand in Shijo Kawaramachi, so we headed there. As we walked up Shinkyogoku from Shijo, we found this shop on the east side. There was no line, so we quickly ordered the "Yellow White White Plain" and "Yellow White White Plain Sandwich." The sandwich had cream in the middle and was served cold, looking absolutely delicious. We ordered, paid, and waited for our number to be called at the pick-up counter. Soon enough, our number was called, but the unfriendly staff only handed us the sandwich. When I asked about the warm one, they seemed puzzled, checked the receipt, and handed me the lukewarm one that was already there. It was supposed to be freshly baked, but it was already cooling down. We moved to a nearby park and tried them one by one. The sweetness was very subtle, with a slight egg aroma and a fluffy, delicious texture like a firm chiffon cake. However, the sandwich was not really sandwiched, just cold. It was a shame because it was delicious. It was a bit frustrating, as if they were underestimating their customers. I now understand why their ratings were not very high.

I have recently been obsessed with Taiwanese castella, so I decided to visit this place. I noticed many people walking with their paper bags from this place along a shortcut from Karasuma Station to the Kyoto Economic Center, so I was curious. I thought it was close by, but it turned out to be on Shinkyogoku Street! There was a wait for three people ahead of me. The person in front was told that the freshly baked ones would be ready in 20 minutes, so I asked what I could buy right away. The staff seemed a bit taken aback by my question... Anyway, I was told I could buy something chilled right away, so I went for that! Since I wasn't going straight home, I figured it didn't really matter if it was freshly baked or not. As for the taste, it was like the Taiwanese castella I know well. It was fluffy with a chewy texture like Uncle Rikuro's cheesecake. I sometimes have it as a substitute for breakfast bread. If I happen to be nearby again, I might visit this place once more.

I visited the shop around 12:50 on Sunday. There was one customer before me. I ordered the "Yellow White Castella" for 630 yen. It seemed like it was just about to be baked at 13:00, so I decided to go with the yellow one instead of the black white (black sugar) or tiger white (black sesame x plain). When the knife cut into the large castella, steam rose up and it looked very delicious. Even when I got home, it was still warm and I was able to enjoy its deliciousness. It remained soft and tasty even after it cooled down, and I was able to cut it neatly with the provided knife.

I like castella, but I haven't bought it until now because I always have to wait when passing by this place. Usually, I pass by here after work... but today I was able to buy it smoothly due to the state of emergency. I bought the yellow and white plain castella. It has a fine texture, the batter is tightly packed but fluffy. It feels heavy. It comes with a plastic knife and a hand towel for takeout. Naturally, it's not piping hot, it's slightly cooled down. It's less sweet than I expected. It's more like a souffle than castella? You can eat it as is, microwave it (to make it fluffy like freshly baked), lightly toast it in a toaster (crispy outside, fluffy inside), chill it in the fridge (moist), or eat it with ice cream, honey, or jam... there are various ways to enjoy it (as written in the leaflet). I tried freezing one piece, and it became firmer than other castella I've had before. Perhaps because the batter is tightly packed. The sweetness is mild, and I thought I could eat it quickly, but it's quite filling, so it might be better to eat it slowly.

The Ponpon in Kawaramachi Sanjo was closed due to a machine malfunction. However, the Yellow Hakuhaku in Kyogoku had freshly baked matcha and plain flavors available. It was during spring break, but I was lucky to not have to wait long. The castella was fluffy and delicious whether it was fresh, cooled, lightly warmed in the microwave, or chilled. The free bag caused the shape to deform, but the castella itself was fine. It had a fine texture and a mild sweetness. I didn't try toasting it in a toaster. I would like to try Ponpon next time.

As I was wandering around Shinkyogoku Shopping Street, I came across a trendy Taiwanese Castella shop. There was quite a crowd in front of the store, but surprisingly, there was almost no line to place an order. I decided to buy a plain Taiwanese Castella, which took about 15 minutes to be ready. The large Castella was cut into pieces right in front of me. When I received it and ate it with my wife at home, we found that it didn't taste like traditional Castella but more like a fluffy souffle. The size was quite big, and just one piece seemed filling enough.

Recently, I saw on TV that Taiwan Castella is booming and I suddenly felt like eating it. I searched and found this shop, so I decided to visit on my day off. I arrived a little after 11 am on Sunday, and was told that the next batch would be ready by 1 pm, and they could prepare one for me. I ordered one plain castella, paid, and received a ticket. Still had about 2 hours until it was ready... I passed the time by shopping nearby. At 1 pm, I handed in my ticket at the pickup counter and successfully got my item. The castella was made with eggs and carefully selected ingredients, resulting in a fluffy and soft texture. When you touch it, it's soft and when you put it in your mouth, it melts away. The texture is irresistible, but it was less sweet than I expected. When chilled in the fridge, the castella becomes moist and delicious. I visited the shop before 8 pm on a regular day. I had been curious about it since before it opened, as it is on my way home from work. I had never been able to buy anything due to the timing of when the items were ready, but this time I was finally able to make a purchase. There was never anything ready when I passed by after work, but this time I happened to pass by late and found out that they had items ready at 8 pm, so I quickly bought some. When the items were ready, they were cut into a large piece of castella cake with a baked imprint, and then cut into 16 pieces. 16 pieces from one baking session. No wonder they sell out quickly. Besides the plain flavor, they also had matcha and black tea flavors, with different items being baked depending on the time. The one I bought this time was plain. The paper box for takeout was charged, so I used a free paper bag and my eco bag for takeout. The smell and warmth on the way home were comforting. After arriving home and waiting a bit, I tried it. It was slightly warm. It came with a plastic knife, which I used to cut it. The part with the baked imprint was crisp, while the rest was soft. No worries about it falling apart. The taste was more like a rolled omelet than castella cake. It was not too sweet. Unlike a fluffy and light castella, this one was dense and heavy. I thought I could easily finish it, but I only managed to eat half. They said it can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 days, so I will enjoy the rest later. I found a dessert that looks like chiffon cake but is labeled as castella on my Instagram timeline. There is a shop in Osaka, and I recently discovered one in Kyoto that opened on February 10th. It seems to be a Taiwanese dessert, but when I went, there was no line and it was quiet. The staff explained that the products were sold out and being prepared. They only had plain flavor available, and you could reserve one if you were okay with waiting 20 minutes for it to be ready. I decided to purchase one, paid, received a ticket, and left the shop. When I returned at the scheduled time, there was a crowd of people waiting for their freshly baked items. The freshly made dessert looked fluffy and steaming hot. It was cut effortlessly with a large knife without deflating the dough. People with tickets were receiving their items one by one, and I waited in line to get mine. I purchased the "Yellow White (Plain)" flavor, which resembled castella or chiffon cake. It was easy to cut with the included plastic knife, and the brown part was crispy but quickly melted in the mouth, while the yellow part was fluffy and moist, not too sweet. It would definitely go well with whipped cream. It was a decent size, and I quickly finished it. There were other flavors like matcha with red bean base and brown sugar with zaramé base that I would like to try. I am particularly interested in the "Chilled Cream Sandwich" with whipped cream as mentioned earlier.

I was interested in trying it, so we decided to buy it, but had to wait for an hour. We had to get a ticket and wait for it to be ready. I wish we had decided to buy it sooner. After an hour, we got the freshly baked items and also bought some Taiwanese fried chicken and daikon mochi from the nearby stall. The fried chicken was bigger than my face, reminiscent of the one I had in Taiwan, but the taste was just okay. The daikon mochi was chewy and very delicious. When we got home, we also had some castella cake (plain and tea flavors). It was very fluffy as it was freshly baked, but the taste was not impressive. We ended up taking the leftovers home. The next day, the flavor of the castella cake became richer and more delicious. Although it lost some of its fluffiness, the combination of the fluffy texture from the day before and the rich flavor of the next day made it worth having again. One of my friends also took home the tea-flavored one and agreed that it tasted better the next day.

Opened on February 10, the Taiwan Castella Yellow White White Shin Kyogoku store. Not interested in the neighboring Jumbo Karaage, but love Taiwan Castella. This one is plain, priced at 630 yen each. Paper bags are free, while a gift box costs 20 yen. The hand-carry paper bag is free until the 12th (20 yen). It seems to be popular, as when I went around 3 pm, I was told to come back at 6:30 pm, which was a bit inconvenient. It was handed to me while still warm, and can be kept refrigerated until the 14th. I quickly finished it once I brought it home. Taiwan Castella is a drink haha. I ended up coming back to buy more the next day haha. And putting cream in it is just unthinkable haha.
