Mablu Halal Dining, located a 2.3-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station in Kyoto, offers authentic Indian curry. The restaurant is on the second floor of a building on the street in front of OPA. I visited around 2 pm to avoid the lunch rush, but there were still plenty of customers, including tourists. The place is popular! Inside, there are tables and counter seats, each equipped with various chargers, which is very convenient. I ordered the Tandoori Chicken Lunch Set for 950 yen. You can choose your curry from all the menu options, and I chose the spinach curry with a normal level of spiciness. First, the soup and salad arrived. The soup had a unique flavor and was very delicious. Then came the large naan, curry, tandoori chicken, and rice. The curry to dip the naan in was very rich and tasty. I was surprised by the tandoori chicken. The large pieces of chicken were tender and flavorful, with a delicious broth. It was the best tandoori chicken I have ever had. This will definitely become a favorite!!

I ordered the 1-Curry Lunch Set for 800 yen (tax included) and chose the Mutton Korma curry from all the curry options on the menu. The set came with naan, rice, soup, and salad. The curry had a rich flavor and was well-spiced, very delicious. Sometimes at this price range for lunch, the curry can feel diluted, but the curry here was rich and satisfying. It's located in the city, so it seems like a good place to eat quickly.

The cost performance was good and I liked the taste. One thing that caught my attention was the COVID-19 measures. The windows were almost fully open in mid-December, and it was quite cold, making me feel like I was catching a cold. Also, the staff were not very friendly, which was disappointing. Despite that, I will come back for dinner and give it another try.

I was considering ordering Biryani but was told that it cannot be made with Japanese rice, so I chose this option where I could select Japanese rice. This time, I tried the Turkish and Arabian kebabs. The Adana Kebab had a strong lamb flavor and the portion was generous. They offered both pita bread and rice, and asked which I preferred. The pita bread was soft and delicious. I chose Japanese rice, which came in a large plate. It was true what the staff said, it was a lot of carbohydrates with the pita bread. Half the amount of rice would have been just right. I also chose the Mango Lassi, which was tasty. The soup had a thick consistency and was made with eggs, with a hint of spice that was felt in the throat. The salad was served on the Adana Kebab plate.

It was delicious as always. The soup had cabbage and carrots in it. For the drink, I chose mango and mixed fruit juice, but they asked if I wanted a mango lassi instead. I declined as I had already tried their mango lassi before. For the rice, you can choose between basmati rice and Japanese rice. I requested Japanese rice, but they recommended basmati rice for its fragrance. The kebab had a strong lamb flavor. Compared to the Persian kebab I had last time, which was made with chicken, this one was more subtly flavored despite its appearance.

Unlike most Indian restaurants, this one was very tasty. - Chicken curry: The taste was familiar and delicious, with butter drizzled on top. - Saffron rice: The texture of the rice was unfamiliar and a bit difficult to eat. It felt more like noodles or some sort of processed food.

Thursday 18:33 I went to Mablu Halal Dining, which is a Go To Eat certified restaurant. There were no customers when I arrived, but later two men came in. I sat at the counter in the back. A Japanese female staff member explained the menu to me. I was happy to learn that you can choose your favorite curry and drink with the set menu. Non-vegetarian set for 1,480 yen (tax included) includes soup, salad, two types of curry (Chicken Dopiaza and Spinach Mutton), and a drink (Mango Lassi). Before ordering, soup was served. The soup container and spoon were very cute. They only provide knives, forks, and spoons, no chopsticks. Each seat has free Wi-Fi and you can charge various gadgets. The curry spiciness level ranges from Mild < Spicy < Hot < Hell. Chicken Dopiaza was a new name to me, so I asked the Japanese staff member what kind of curry it was. She didn't know either, but said it has a lot of onions. The yellow-based curry had a slight acidity but was creamy. It had a fresh taste with crunchy tomatoes and onions. I ordered it as Spicy (level 2), but it wasn't spicy at all. The Spinach Mutton was also recommended, so I chose that. It had tomatoes and one piece of mutton. It was a familiar spinach curry. I ordered it as Spicy, but it wasn't spicy either. Both curries had cumin and green leaves, so the base might be the same. An owner-like foreign man asked me if the spiciness was okay and offered more naan. The soup was slightly spicy, maybe? It was a simple but tasty vegetable soup. The salad was served in a plate that was hard to eat with a fork, but it was nice to have it before the meal. The taste was normal. The rice was white with a slightly yellow tint. There was also naan, but personally, I didn't need it. The naan was thin and had quite a bit of oil. Some parts were slightly charred, so maybe they have a tandoor? I couldn't resist ordering a sweet Mango Lassi for the drink. It was perfect for after the meal. I was very full by the end. I left the restaurant at 19:15. There were quite a few types of curry, so I thought it would be nice to come back for lunch. Thank you for the meal.

A new Halal cuisine specialty shop opened on the second floor of an izakaya! The interior is clean and for lunch, you can choose between kebab or curry. The curry set was delicious and very filling! The entrance is a bit hard to find, but I will definitely go back! Thank you for the meal!

The soup had a nice balance of tomato acidity and a slightly spicy kick from the spices. The cute wooden bowl added to the presentation. The salad had a sesame dressing instead of the usual carrot dressing. The cucumber and tomato were fresh and crunchy. For the curry, you can choose the type and level of spiciness. I chose mutton korma and spinach chicken. (Unfortunately, I forgot to choose the spiciness level... It was probably served at a normal level, not spicy at all.) The meat was served in bite-sized pieces, about 3 pieces each. The mutton korma had a creamy texture with very little of the usual lamb flavor, and it was sweet and rich. The spinach chicken had finely pureed spinach, making it easy to eat without any grassy taste. It was also sweet and rich. The naan was not fluffy like bread, but rather firm with a generous amount of ghee on the surface.
