I visited the Kanda Curry Grand Prix stamp rally for the fourth time. I arrived around 11:30 and was the only customer, so I was able to chat with the owner for a while. The final round of the Kanda Curry Grand Prix, which was canceled due to COVID, is finally scheduled to be held this year. Beppinsha will also participate in it, so we talked about that first. Even though the event is on November 5th, they are already preparing by October 20th, which is quite challenging. They will be preparing 2000 servings. I am really looking forward to it. As for my order, in the past I tried the Red Medicinal, Black Kashmir, and last year I was impressed by the Shrimp Curry, so this year I will go with the remaining Beef Tendon Kashmir Curry. I chose a mild spiciness level of 3 because I really want to savor the taste without overwhelming spiciness. This was the right choice! The Kashmir Curry has a rich and roasted flavor, with plenty of tender beef tendons that add a hint of sweetness, blending perfectly with the spiciness. This restaurant is in line with the tradition of Ueno Deli and Bombay, but personally, I like Beppinsha's Kashmir Curry the best. It's definitely a must-visit favorite for me.

I once visited this restaurant during the pandemic, and they were operating in a modified way at that time. Now it seems like they are back to regular operation. I saw the sign and went in without hesitation! Today I ordered the Beef Sinew Kashmir Curry with a spice level of 3 (out of 1-6)! The refreshing spiciness of Kashmir, the tender texture of the beef sinew, and a hint of sweetness are well-balanced and quite delicious! Even though Kashmir curry at level 3 is not that spicy (in my personal opinion). I think I will try level 4 next time. Even as I walk back to Ochanomizu after finishing the meal, my stomach still retains the spiciness, making me feel comfortably warm and enveloped in happiness. I will definitely come back again!

Visited a restaurant near Ochanomizu with a friend. When it comes to Ochanomizu and Jimbocho, curry is a must. So, we decided to visit this place for lunch. We arrived around 11:30 on a Saturday, and we were able to easily find a seat. Good start. I ordered the Red Medicinal Curry, level 1 spiciness. Level 1 is said to be about medium spiciness. The price was 1,000 yen. The staff was exceptionally polite and friendly. As for the taste, the curry was more on the watery side. It had a slight spiciness and the level of spices was just right. The chicken was bone-in but incredibly tender. I thought maybe a level 2 spiciness would have been better, but overall, I was satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

【Visit on September 18, 2023】 On the 49th day of the 2023 Kanda Curry Grand Prix stamp rally, I acquired 37 stamps out of the goal of 70. As it was a holiday and some places were closed for the night, I decided to have lunch at a participating restaurant that was open during the day. I visited a restaurant that I had always enjoyed even before participating in the stamp rally. I hadn't been to this place in a while since I had only visited the Kanda store last year. I was really looking forward to this visit. When I arrived around noon, I was seated at the counter right away since there were only three occupied tables. Gradually, more seats filled up, and by the time I left, it was almost full. I think it was also a matter of timing, but I was lucky to be seated immediately at the counter. One of my favorite dishes at this restaurant is the "Red Beauty Herbal Curry." However, since it had been a while, I couldn't resist ordering the "Beef Tendon Kashmir Curry," which I hadn't tried before. I chose the level "4" out of the six levels of spiciness offered. The curry had a dark red color, and you could see large chunks of vegetables and beef on the surface. I took a bite and realized that this restaurant's curry was generally on the lighter side, as expected. However, I made a mistake in my choice because I had expected the beef tendon curry to be a bit rich, sticky, and sweet due to the collagen content. But this curry had a strong spiciness that hit my tongue directly without much oil coating. The level "4" spiciness was said to be three times spicier than the average "hot," and while it wasn't unbearably spicy, the absence of animal sweetness made the taste dominated by chili pepper. Even though the restaurant managed to make it tasty, it was quite different from what I had anticipated, which was a bit disappointing. The vegetables, including eggplant, okra, carrot, and lotus root, were cooked to bring out their natural sweetness. The beef tendon, simmered until it became tender with red wine and spices, had less fat content. Perhaps because the restaurant caters to a lot of female customers, the dish was prepared in this way. The rice was perfectly cooked to complement the light curry, and the fried onion chips added a nice touch. In the end, I realized that I should have ordered the "Red Beauty Herbal Curry" at this restaurant. Taste preferences play a big role, so this review might not be helpful to everyone. If you agree with my belief that "overpowering chili peppers can overshadow the flavors of other spices," then I hope you find this review useful. Thank you for the meal.

I waited for about 30 minutes when I visited the restaurant at 2:30 PM on Sunday. Normally, there is not much of a wait at this time. The staff were kind and the atmosphere was homey. My friend and I tried the Red Beauty Medicinal Curry and the Rich Spicy Shrimp Curry with a hint of coriander. Both dishes were full of flavor and the spices were original and incredibly delicious.

I visited for the first time and ordered the Red Medicinal Curry. I think opinions may differ on medicinal herbs, but the flavors were not too strong or too weak and I enjoyed it. The bone-in chicken, simmered slowly, was easy to shred with a spoon.

Once a year, there is a moment of eating a special meal. That is when I eat curry or sushi! In the summer, I always seem to crave really spicy food. So I decided to visit the famous Bippinsha in Jinbocho, known for its curry. The curry here is made without wheat flour, with a strong dose of spices, resulting in a light and smooth texture. There are four varieties available, priced at either 1,000 yen or 1,100 yen. If you visit on a weekday for lunch, you can request extra rice for free, which is great for those who want to eat a lot. - Coriander-scented Rich Shrimp Curry (spiciness level 6) 1,100 yen. I saw the person at the next table order a regular serving of rice, and it was a large portion, so I requested a half portion. I chose level 6 spiciness, thinking that was my limit. Later, I found out that they can go up to level 10 in spiciness. According to the staff, level 2 spiciness is only slightly hotter than spicy canned curry. After about 15 minutes, my dish arrived. I first tasted the rice, followed by the curry in the cute bowl. The ingredients included chunks of shrimp, lotus root, carrot, cherry tomatoes, and broccoli – all my favorite ingredients! The curry was quite refreshing thanks to the generous amount of coriander. As I took a few more bites, the spiciness intensified. It wasn't just spicy, but it started to sting, numbing my lips due to the effect of the chili peppers. However, the taste was really delicious! The shrimp was juicy, with a thin shell that was crispy and easy to eat. I savored each bite of the crispy lotus root, the soft carrot, and the tangy and juicy cherry tomatoes. The rice portion was a bit small, but I managed to finish it all, feeling completely satisfied. Despite being almost full during our visit at around 2 PM on a weekday, by the time we left, there was only one other customer. Thanks to this, we could enjoy a leisurely meal. The atmosphere and kindness of the staff were also wonderful, as they shared various information with us. It's no surprise that this place is becoming popular. I even ended up buying retort curry as a souvenir for my family. Highly satisfied!

The curry menu includes Red Herbal Curry, Black Kashmir Curry, Rich Shrimp Curry, and Beef Tendon Curry. I ordered the Black Kashmir Curry for 1,000 yen (tax included). The spiciness level is the mildest 4 in the Black category. The curry itself is light, so it's refreshing even in this hot season without causing any stomach discomfort. The ingredients include chicken, okra, carrots, lotus root, and eggplant. Compared to traditional soup curry, the amount of ingredients is modest. At first, I didn't feel much spiciness, but as I continued eating, it got spicier. Oh no, it kept getting spicier and it was quite tough halfway through. I had some business in Jinbocho and decided to have lunch at the "Curry & Wine Bistro Bippinsha Ochanomizu store" where I had been before. I went up to the second floor using the stairs and entered the restaurant. When I arrived at 11:20, there were other customers but there were seats available at the counter, so I sat down. I ordered the "Beef Sinew Kashmir Curry for 1,100 yen" and requested a spiciness level of '5'. The Beef Sinew Kashmir Curry is a curry where beef sinew is simmered until tender with red wine and spices, giving it a sweet flavor. At 11:30, the Beef Sinew Kashmir Curry level 5 spiciness arrived. The curry and rice are served separately. The rice had a side of green soybeans and onion in vinegar, while the curry contained beef sinew, okra, lotus root, carrots, eggplant, etc. I immediately poured the curry over the rice and enjoyed it. The curry was thin in consistency but had a good level of spiciness and was delicious. The beef sinew was tender and juicy, and the okra, lotus root, carrots, eggplant, etc., all did a good job. As I continued eating, the spiciness increased and I started sweating, but before I knew it, I had finished everything. Thank you for the meal.

Visited as part of the Kanda Curry Alley stamp rally. This is one of my favorite curry shops in the Kanda-Jinbocho area. It's a popular spot with lines on weekends, but luckily I only had to wait for one person this time. I ordered the Rich Shrimp Curry with less rice and spice level 6. It's a rich curry made with soft shrimp that can be eaten whole, with a strong shrimp aroma and tangy tomato flavor. The scent of coriander and cilantro enhances the appetite even more. I also love the Red Beauty Herbal Curry and Black Beauty Kashmir Curry from this place, but the Rich Shrimp Curry has become a new favorite. Next time, I'll try the Beef Tendon Kashmir Curry. Kanda Curry Grand Prix 2023, 8th stop. I was interested in this place at last year's Curry Grand Prix, but every time I tried to stop by after work, it was always closed. Today, I noticed a sign at the entrance that they are only open for lunch now. After visiting another curry place that only served lunch, I passed by this place on my way home and saw a sign on the first floor. I decided to take this opportunity to do a curry crawl. I had a hard time deciding which curry to order, but I went with the "Beef Tendon Kashmir Curry," with a heat level of 2. The ingredients included carrots, lotus root, okra, and beef tendon, all cooked well and tender. There were no side dishes like Fukujin pickles on the table. Instead, the curry came with edamame and onion pickles. Details like these show the attention to detail. The gluten-free curry had a light and soupy consistency, similar to soup curry. Even though this was my second stop, it went down smoothly in my stomach... Am I just a big eater? This renowned curry shop has won the Grand Prix in the past and has even received a Michelin Bib Gourmand. I'm curious to try the "Coriander Scented Shrimp Curry" next.

On holiday at 11:00, I visited a place that had no waiting at opening time to have their Beef Tendon Kashmir Curry with a spice level of 3. It had been a while since I last came here, and I suddenly craved Kashmir curry, so I remembered this place. Even though it was opening time, there was no line, just two people behind me. Last time, I found the spice level 4 of Kashmir curry too spicy, so this time I opted for the milder spice level 3 with beef tendon. The beef tendon added a mildness to the flavor. While it still had the Kashmir style, the straight impact of traditional Kashmir curry was somewhat subdued. The beef tendon was very delicious and tender, but compared to the intense spiciness of the spice level 4 Kashmir curry, the impact was a bit weaker. Spice level 4 is too spicy, and if you want level 3, you have to go for the beef tendon Kashmir curry, so I'm already contemplating what to order next time.

Arrived at Curry & Wine Bistro Beppinsha in Ochanomizu at 12:07. Ordered the Red Beppin Yosei Curry (spiciness level 1) for 1,000 yen. They described it as a curry that allows you to enjoy the spices, with cardamom and ginger in abundance. The curry was thin and soupy, similar to soup curry, lacking richness and feeling a bit plain. It had some vegetables and chicken in it, which were tasty but not quite satisfying. Considering the rising prices, paying 1,000 yen for this dish felt a bit underwhelming.

Located on the second floor in an area where there are many curry restaurants within a 5-minute walk from Jimbocho Station on the Tokyo Metro/Toei Subway and a 6-minute walk from Shin-Ochanomizu Station on the Tokyo Metro, this restaurant is one I decided to visit for the first time as a new exploration. Visited during lunchtime on a weekday and found seating available at the counter. I ordered the Beef Sinji Kashmir Curry @ 1100 with spice level 3. I was also interested in the Rich Shrimp Curry, but avoided it because it mentioned "coriander" haha. After a short wait, the dish was served. The Beef Sinji Kashmir Curry had okra, potatoes, carrots, and beef sinew visible in a dry curry sauce. When I tasted it, the curry smoothly penetrated and was delicious. It had a nice balance of spices and was not overly spicy, making it easy to eat. However, I started sweating gradually haha. The beef sinew, simmered and softened, was surprisingly plentiful and very good. Other regular menu items seem to include Red Beautiful Chinese Herbal Curry, Black Beautiful Kashmir Curry, and Rich Shrimp Curry. Thank you for the meal.

I went for Sunday lunch! It was past 1pm so we were able to get a table easily. I tried the shrimp curry with a strong dose of cilantro. I ordered it with a mild level of spiciness, but I think a bit more heat would have been better. The curry was delicious, but the temperature inside was just average. I sat by the window and constantly felt sweat running down my back, it was too hot. Also, the water was lukewarm, which didn't make for a good dining experience. I think I'll wait for it to cool down a bit before going back.

After finishing work in the morning, I headed to this place for lunch. I was able to easily get a seat since it was still early. It's located on the second floor of a building. I accidentally went to the first floor where there was a curry restaurant, but eventually realized my mistake when I saw the ticket machine. I was seated at the counter and ordered the "Beef Tendon Kashmir Curry" (1100 yen) with a medium level of spiciness (level 3). After a short wait, I was served a thin Kashmir curry with tender tendon meat cooked in red wine and spices, along with plenty of vegetables like lotus root, carrots, okra, and eggplant. The rice came with edamame and onion pickles on the side. Despite the medium spiciness level, it was pretty spicy for me. Eating a hot curry in the heat of summer made me sweat. This was my fourth curry lunch this week!
