This time it's about Shinjuku Gyoen. Initially aiming for the new store in Shinjuku Sanchome, but the opening date was different. It's not open yet. So, I remembered and walked to Gyoenmae. Daiichi Asahi. This is a famous store from Kyoto. It's a famous store combo operating next to the famous Shinfukusai-kan. I remembered when I went to Kyoto before and ate at both stores, I thought it was better than Shinfukusai-kan in Ramen Expo. At the ticket machine outside the store, I purchased the special ramen (with extra chashu) for 1050 yen, added extra Kyoto leeks for 100 yen, and a flavored egg for 100 yen. Then I found a special topping mix of flavored egg, leeks, and menma for 200 yen. When I entered the store and handed the ticket to the lady, I asked if I could change the flavored egg to the special topping mix, and she kindly accepted. I waited at the counter for a while. Here it comes. First, the noodles. Thin straight noodles. A slightly firm texture with a chewy bite. It gives a traditional taste but the soup mixes well and tastes delicious. This is generous. Next is the soup. It has a strong animal and fat taste, and you can taste the soy sauce flavor well. Juicy with no seafood flavor, so you can enjoy the traditional ramen taste. This is generous. And the toppings. The flavored egg is soft. It blends well with the soup and tastes delicious. The bamboo shoots are thick but have a soft chewy texture, and this is also generous. The leeks are piled up generously. Dip it in the soup and enjoy the crispy texture. And hidden under the leeks are more than 10 slices of chashu. Thin but with a firm texture, yet tender and full of flavor. It has a good bite. So, a famous store that serves delicious ramen with a traditional Kyoto taste. A bowl that reminds you of what ramen is all about. Definitely worth a try. Ramen is really delicious. See you again. I have switched to Ameblo. https://ameblo.jp/yokohama-rameo

I have visited this place about 10 times now and the initial excitement I felt when I first tried it has faded, but it is still delicious! I have also tried the Kyoto main branch twice, but I prefer the Shinjuku branch. The soup tastes completely different. The appearance may not be that great, but it is a tasty ramen.

Returning to Tokyo from Osaka on the Shinkansen, I saw the Daiichi Asahi ramen shop pass by in Kyoto. It had been a long time since I last ate there, maybe over 10 years... I remembered there was a shop in Tokyo as well, so when I got back to Tokyo, I headed straight to Shinjuku Gyoen. It was around 1 pm on a Sunday and I could enter without waiting in line. Since it had been a while, I went for the classic menu: "Ramen (regular) for 850 yen" and "Flavored egg for 100 yen". The soup was a rich pork bone soy sauce broth. It had a straightforward, robust flavor that would appeal to most people. Despite being pork bone, the soy sauce flavor was prominent. The balance between the soy sauce and saltiness was perfect, making the soup addictive and easy to drink. It wasn't too heavy, and remained delicious until the last drop. The noodles were low-hydration straight noodles. The toppings were thinly sliced char siu, bean sprouts, Kujyo green onions, and I added a flavored egg. The simplicity of the ingredients was refreshing. The original shop in Kyoto always has long lines, so it's nice to be able to easily enjoy their ramen in Tokyo. Thank you for the meal once again.

After opening, the restaurant was quite busy with seats filling up quickly. The ticket machine was outside, and I purchased a Char Siu ramen and a flavored egg. When I handed the tickets to the staff, they asked about the firmness of the noodles, and I requested them to be cooked normally. The soup was a soy sauce-based broth with a good balance, but slightly too salty for my taste. The broth had a pork bone and vegetable base without any seafood ingredients. The toppings included thinly sliced pork shoulder Char Siu, bean sprouts, plenty of Kujo green onions, and an extra order of flavored egg. The noodles were medium thickness with a slightly firm texture. Overall, the ramen had a traditional pork bone soy sauce flavor similar to those found in Western Japan, particularly in Wakayama and Okayama.

Visited at 2 p.m. on a regular day. Due to ventilation issues, had to pull the slightly heavy door open, exchanged a large bill for smaller bills, and bought a "regular ramen" from the ticket machine. There were four people inside the restaurant. The ramen arrived within 5 minutes. It had a nostalgic soy sauce color and aroma. I sprinkled plenty of black pepper on the green onions. The strong soy sauce flavor, the aroma of green onions, and the crunchy bean sprouts created a nostalgic balance. The chashu (sliced pork) was also delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I received a ramen recommendation! This ramen is one that I used to eat a lot in the past, so much so that you could say I grew up on it. I think this shop's first branch in Tokyo. Now they also have a branch in Jinbocho, but compared to Kyoto, the soy sauce flavor is a bit lighter and the noodles are a bit firm. I remember that the most expensive bowl used to be around 800 yen, even with a student discount it was 400 yen. This was about 35 years ago (laughs). In a way, it's still active because it's a popular shop.

On a regular day at 15:30, I wondered if it would be empty, but there were three empty seats and I entered immediately. I ordered ramen for 850 yen and an extra serving for 100 yen. The taste was a combination of soy sauce and pork bone, a common pairing, but it had a special richness to the broth. It's difficult to put into words, but it had a depth and richness to it. Maybe because I was hungry, I finished it in a few minutes. Although my memory is vague, it was not inferior to the main branch behind Kyoto Station. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant around 5 pm on a regular day. There was no line. It is a 1-2 minute walk from Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station and about a 10-minute walk from Shinjuku Sanchome Station. There is a ticket machine outside the store. I purchased a regular ramen (850 yen) and couldn't resist adding Shiromi (fatty soy sauce-marinated meat, 100 yen) as a topping. I handed the ticket to the staff inside the store and when asked about the firmness of the noodles, I requested them to be firm. The interior of the store is clean and well-maintained, as it opened in December 2018. The restroom is also very clean. The ramen was served in about 8 minutes. The amount of Kujo green onions was amazing, and there were bean sprouts underneath. The soup was delicious, slightly on the salty side with a nostalgic umami flavor. The addition of Shiromi topping enhanced the richness of the soup, making it really tasty. The medium-thick straight noodles were chewy and delicious. There were even 4 slices of pork chashu, which was a delight. The pork's flavor was rich and enjoyable. This ramen shop has a very delicious soup! It's a place where those who like it will really enjoy it! I would like to visit again. Thank you for the meal!

I had chashu ramen with rice. After visiting a few times, I felt that I wanted to have rice with the ramen here as much as possible. I thought about getting a large portion if possible, but I should have added extra green onions, as the green onions here are delicious. The rich soy sauce soup has a captivating taste. I always struggle with the idea that finishing the soup completely is not good, but I end up drinking almost all of it, so I actually lose that battle. Everything here is so delicious. I definitely want to come back.

I visited around 2 p.m. on a regular day. I had tried to come earlier before but there was always a long line, so I gave up. Today, I went for a late lunch and was able to get in right away. When I arrived, there were a few empty seats but customers kept coming in. I ordered the regular ramen with extra bamboo shoots, and to my surprise, there were a lot of chashu slices in it! The green onions on top were also delicious! Most importantly, the soup was amazing! It was light but flavorful, not too heavy. I was on a break from work, and even though I thought garlic might go well with the soup, I decided to try it as is, and it was really delicious.

I never expected that popular Kyoto restaurant could be enjoyed in Tokyo, just a few minutes' walk from Shinjuku Gyoen Station. I went there on a Saturday night after 8 pm, so there were a few customers. The portion size was not too big, which was perfect for me as my appetite has decreased!

I visited with my colleague before noon. There is a tempura restaurant called "Tamaya" across the street. I ordered a simple soy sauce ramen (850 yen). It was a soy sauce ramen with plenty of green onions, a taste that I like. The soup seemed to have a green onion flavor. I enjoy this type of soy sauce soup, which has a refreshing taste with hints of animal flavor. I usually don't add anything to my ramen, but for some reason, I feel like adding table pepper to this type of ramen. I make Chinese soup at home with green onions and ginger for broth, and I can taste a similar flavor in this ramen. I apologize for comparing it to my amateur soup at home. I asked for the noodles to be firm, and the straight thin noodles were delicious. There are photos on the wall that convey the history of this restaurant. I feel like the Shinjuku Gyoen area is a place where you are likely to encounter delicious restaurants. It's so much fun. After eating, my colleague and I discuss and consider which restaurants to visit in the coming days.

It was a very hot day, but I felt like eating soy sauce-flavored ramen, so I decided to visit this place. I might have been to a shop near Kyoto Station in the past. I ordered a regular ramen and seasoned egg. The ramen had thin slices of chashu pork piled on top, along with plenty of green onions. The noodles were firm and had a slightly chewy texture at first, but they grew on me and became just right. The chashu pork was thin, but it had a nice sweetness from the fat and a rich meaty flavor, making it satisfying. The seasoned bamboo shoots were tasty as well. The green onions had a strong presence and tasted fresh. The soup had a clear soy sauce flavor with a good depth of flavor. It may not be trendy, but it was definitely delicious.

One of the two giants in front of Kyoto Station! First Asahi!! (The other one is Shinpukusaien) It may be typical, but simplicity is best! Not light nor Chinese-style ramen (Wonton), not double soup. If I had to say, it's like a street stall ramen! Simple straight noodles in slightly salty soup. Thinly sliced chashu and green onions! It's not a shop I frequented during my time in Kyoto, but it's a nostalgic and comforting bowl that everyone can enjoy without getting tired of.
Ramen 850 yen
Extra green onions 100 yen
Small rice 150 yen
I used to lean towards Shinpukusaien among the two giants in front of the station, but after trying it again after a long time, I enjoyed a taste of the good old THE ramen. This is a bowl that I definitely want others to try.

Located just a short walk from Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station. I arrived around 11:30 and was able to get in without waiting in line. Orders are placed at the ticket machine near the entrance when entering the restaurant. I ordered the large ramen with a topping of 3 varieties. They asked about the firmness of the noodles when I entered, then I took my seat. The ramen was served in just a few minutes. The clear soy sauce flavored soup with a good amount of oil floating on top paired perfectly with the Kyujyo green onions. The taste was quite rich. The portion size was generous and satisfying. Personally, I really enjoyed the taste and would love to go back when I'm in the area. One thing to note is that the staff talking amongst themselves can be a bit loud. It would be better if they lowered their volume a bit.

Visited after a year. The inside of the restaurant had a strong animal smell. The distance between tables was too narrow, so left-handed people will inevitably bump into the next table. Special Ramen for ¥1100 had a strong saltiness and a hint of unpleasant smell. It was a typical type of ramen found commonly in Kansai. I usually don't leave much food, but ended up leaving over half of it.

I got off at Shinjuku Station South Exit and headed to Daiichi Asahi. It was about a 15-minute walk. The nearest station is Gyo-en, I think, but I felt like walking there because I wanted to eat. It was delicious as always. I like to add something spicy for a change in taste.

I was surprised to be able to sit down at a famous ramen restaurant in Kyoto without waiting at all. It might have been because it was a scorching hot day at 38°C and a weekday. I bought a meal ticket from the ticket machine outside, and my bowl of ramen arrived in about 10 minutes. The taste was almost the same as the one I had six months ago in Kyoto, and it was delicious. If I'm nearby again, I will definitely go back.

I also visited Daiichi Asahi before. I'm sure you like the Kyoto-style soy sauce-based ramen, and while there are a few other places in Tokyo where you can eat this type of ramen, I sometimes really crave it. This time, I ordered the "Ramen Dai," and it was delicious.

A branch of a famous restaurant near Kyoto Station. I have been to the neighboring Shinpukusaikan, but I have not tried this restaurant next to it. Despite being in Shinjuku, the branch is not crowded even on a Saturday evening around 6 pm, as it is a bit away from the station. I ordered the Chinese soba (¥850), which was a regular size but had a generous amount of noodles and plenty of chashu, so I was very satisfied. The soy sauce ramen had a gentle flavor, and it was refreshing to see moyashi (bean sprouts) on this type of ramen. There were various seasonings like pepper and garlic available, so you can enjoy changing the taste as well. I would definitely like to visit again.

Early lunch. I was the first one in. Ramen for 850 yen with a topping of three varieties for 200 yen. Lots of Kujo Negi (green onions) which made me happy. The 200 yen topping was worth it. Took a sip of the soup. The soy sauce flavor was stronger than I expected. Enjoyed the taste of a famous Kyoto restaurant. If this place was nearby, I would want to eat it regularly. Delicious. Thank you for the meal.
