Tonkatsu Curry for 850 yen. Visited the restaurant for the Curry Grand Prix. Previously, I found the Chicken Katsu to have a slight odor, so this time I tried the Tonkatsu. The Tonkatsu was delicious without any odor, but it was thin and a bit firm. The curry had a thick and rich Kanazawa style sauce. Next time, I think I'll stick to the regular curry.

I had been interested in this restaurant for a while, and today I decided on curry, so I went to Alba. I ordered the Home Run Curry which came with shrimp fry, tonkatsu, 2 sausages, sunny-side-up egg, and shredded cabbage. They served it with a special spoon for Kanazawa curry, and there was also unlimited Fukujin pickles on the table. The curry sauce tasted a bit sweet. It was a delicious meal.

This is my fourth visit to a curry restaurant located about an 8-minute walk from JR Akihabara Station. I enjoyed a delicious curry with crispy cutlet served in a Kanazawa curry-style bowl, using a split spoon. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was quiet and cozy, making it a pleasant dining experience even with other customers around.

Kanda Curry Grand Prix, third stop. Second stop for today. Got the Katsu Curry small size for 750 yen. Since it's Kanazawa Curry, is it the same as Go Go Curry? The taste and even the container were identical, down to the cabbage. The katsu was crispy, and for 750 yen, it's a good deal. If you want to add toppings to your curry for under 1000 yen, this is the top choice. If you like Go Go Curry, you won't be disappointed. Also, if you're planning to visit multiple places in one day for the Grand Prix, choosing the small size makes it easier to include in your itinerary.

On a regular weekday after 12 o'clock, the second visit, about 80% of the seats are filled. I chose Cream Croquette Curry Small at the ticket machine and sat at the counter. It arrived in a few minutes, with 150g of rice. The curry is so thick that you can't see the rice, and shredded cabbage is served on the side. Here is the definition of Kanazawa curry: the curry is rich and thick, served with shredded cabbage, on a stainless steel plate, with a fork or a spoon. The curry is topped with a cutlet, and sauce is poured over it. The restaurant Alba is a member of the Kanazawa Curry Association. The curry at APA Hotel starts with shredded cabbage (to prevent a rapid increase in blood sugar) and is an European-style curry stew base. They use a lot of onions in the curry, and simmer vegetables and beef for over 6 hours to bring out a deep flavor. "We care about the health of the people eating, so we use less salt. The umami from the vegetables and beef cover for the reduced salt content," they say. This is quite a thick curry. The sweetness of the vegetables is amazing! It's not very spicy, so you don't really need the pickled vegetables. It feels quite rich, and it's surprising that it's low in salt. The small portion of rice leaves a bit of curry leftover. The croquette is frozen, but the crispy outside and hot, creamy inside were to my liking. At 620 yen, it's a great deal considering the high cost of living these days. Next time, I'll have to try the cutlet curry as per the definition of Kanazawa curry! Thank you for the meal! ☆

Located in a back alley just two streets off Akihabara's Chuo-dori, is a curry restaurant called Kaga Curry. The seating area, with around 20 seats, tends to get crowded during lunchtime. I ordered the omurice curry with a small portion using the ticket machine at the entrance. A small portion comes with 150g of rice. It seems like the regular and large portions are the same price, so it's a good deal for those who want to eat a lot. The curry sauce is rich and seems to be simmered with plenty of onions, giving it a fruity sweetness. The egg is soft and goes well with the curry. Although the rice portion is small, it feels like you want to add more curry and indulge. There are several types of Kaga curry, but this one seems to suit my taste.

Both regular and large portions are the same price. There was a short wait to enter. I used a coupon for a soft drink from the free paper at the entrance. The curry had a slightly sweet taste and was on the firmer side. The large portion was also the same price. It was delicious.

I entered the restaurant around 1:00 pm. I was looking for a place to eat after visiting the nearby 100 yen shop. Since it was not crowded and I had never been there before, I decided to give it a try. I purchased my meal from a ticket machine and chose the regular size option. However, I found that the amount of curry was not enough. When I asked for a little more, I was asked to pay an additional 150 yen. It seems that the size options (regular, large) refer to the amount of curry, not the amount of rice. Because the curry was not enough, I cannot give a fair evaluation of the taste. I'm not saying the restaurant is bad, but the experience was not pleasant, so I do not plan to visit again. However, the food was not bad, so it's not a bad place to go if you don't mind the portion size issue.

I had some business in Akihabara and visited this curry restaurant for the first time for lunch. There were two people waiting outside in the scorching sun. Despite the heat, the turnover was surprisingly fast and we were seated quickly. First, you purchase a ticket at the ticket machine at the entrance. I ordered the "Tomato Basil Curry (680 yen)", which is not a typical curry choice. I chose the regular size for the rice. The staff guided me to a seat at the counter. The curry was served promptly. I started by tasting the tomato sauce, which had a nice acidity and the basil added a delicious flavor. At the bottom, there was a layer of curry roux. It was rich and paired well with the tomato basil sauce. The Tomato Basil Curry was a great choice. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the curry restaurant "Curry no Shimin Alba Akihabara Main Store" in Akihabara on a weekday in June 2023 around 6:00 pm. The restaurant is located about a 3-4 minute walk from Suehirocho Station and was about 70% full when I arrived. I ordered the "Stamina Ground Meat Curry" in large size for ¥720 from the ticket machine. I sat at the counter seat alone and presented my food ticket. After waiting for about 7-8 minutes, the dish was served. The "Stamina Ground Meat Curry" was served on an aluminum plate with plenty of ground meat and cabbage on top of the curry rice. I prepared to eat by adding a generous amount of red pickled radish on the side. The combination of the subtle garlic flavor of the ground meat and the Western-style curry was not bad. The freshness of the cabbage and the sweetness of the pickled radish complemented the dish well. By adding some chili pepper from the table, the flavor became even deeper. The crispy texture of the pickled radish and the crunchy texture of the cabbage were also pleasant. The rich and sweet curry sauce is a crowd-pleaser, but it lacks spiciness. It was an enjoyable plate of curry rice with a good B-class taste and satisfying portion size for the price. It's a grateful restaurant offering Kanazawa curry at a reasonable price in the heart of Akihabara. The slightly worn-out feeling of the interior is a shame, but it's a curry restaurant that I would like to visit again.

Curry no Shimin Aruba Akihabara Honten Cream Croquette Curry 770 yen The inventor of Kanazawa curry is said to be the founder of "Champion Curry," a representative curry rice from Ishikawa Prefecture. Served in a stainless steel boat plate, the dark brown curry is topped with shredded cabbage, known as the Kanazawa curry style. Based on the original recipe that became the source of Kanazawa curry, Curry no Shimin Aruba has added its own unique twist to create their curry. The inventor of "Champion Curry" is said to have drastically changed the recipe halfway through, making Curry no Shimin Aruba one of the few places in Tokyo where you can experience the original taste of Kanazawa curry. I ordered the Cream Croquette Curry. The rich and creamy roux is original to them, reminiscent of Ishikawa. The color is a dark brown, with a unique sweetness and umami that feels like it has been simmered and left to rest. The cream croquette is crispy and freshly fried. When eaten with cabbage, it feels refreshing and surprisingly complements the curry well. Located a 5-minute walk from Akihabara Station at 3-2-9 Soto-Kanda, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. #CurrynoShiminAruba #CreamCroquetteCurry #CreamCroquette #KanazawaCurry #Curry #Foodstagram #TokyoGourmet #LunchCrawl #AkihabaraGourmet #SuehirochoGourmet

After drinking at my favorite spot in Yurakucho, I wandered over to Akihabara wondering whether to have ramen, curry, or meat. And right in front of me was a famous Kanazawa curry restaurant! So, I decided to try Alba for the second time in my life. I ordered the "Home Run Curry" as recommended by my friend from Kanazawa. Even though the prices were the same for regular and large servings, I opted for the regular one. The curry arrived with tonkatsu, shrimp fry, sausage, and a sunny-side-up egg on top, along with a generous serving of cabbage. The curry was black, which is typical of Kanazawa curry, and the combination of cabbage was just perfect. The crispy tonkatsu added a nice crunch to the curry, the shrimp fry was fragrant and crispy, and the curry was a great match. The perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg added a creamy taste, and the sausage was reliably delicious. Even though it could stand as a main dish on its own, it played a supporting role in this meal. Overall, it was a fantastic experience after a night of drinking. While ramen is good, curry should definitely be considered as an option too. I look forward to visiting Alba, the famous Kanazawa curry restaurant, again.

A few minutes from Akihabara Station in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, there is a Kanazawa curry restaurant. I only knew about Go Go Curry, but I heard that this place offers good value for money so I decided to visit. It turns out that it originated in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and even Hideki Matsui used to visit. I went there on a Thursday when they first opened and there were already a few people dining, showing that it is a popular spot in the area. The Chicken Cutlet Curry costs 800 yen and you can get a free large portion. Unlike Go Go Curry, the amount of cabbage is minimal. The freshly fried chicken cutlet has a nice crispy texture and when paired with the curry, it really shines. The curry has a rich and sweet taste, characteristic of Kanazawa curry, with its distinctive dark color. I adjusted the spiciness along the way and managed to finish it all. It was quite filling and offered great value for money. The basic Alba Curry costs 600 yen with a free large portion, making it quite affordable. Compared to Go Go Curry's Chicken Cutlet Curry with a large portion for 950 yen, this place offers better value. However, it doesn't have as much cabbage as Go Go Curry, and you can't get refills. In the case of the tonkatsu curry, Go Go Curry costs 800 yen while Alba costs 850 yen. For the regular portion, Go Go Curry is a better deal as you get more cabbage. If you want a substantial meal, go for the Alba Curry.

Akihabara Station is the nearest station, but the restaurant is a short walk away. It is located in a different atmosphere from the lively Akihabara Station area. There are many dining options nearby. The area around Akihabara Station seemed to have more foreigners than Japanese, and it was lively even at night. Inside the restaurant, there are about an equal number of table and counter seats. There is a nice ticket machine where you can easily choose the amount of rice you want. I chose the Chicken Curry (800 yen including tax). It came with shredded cabbage, typical of Kanazawa curry. The chicken cutlet seemed a bit cheap, but it was freshly fried and piping hot. The curry was not too dark in color and had a mild, rich flavor that would appeal to everyone. You can help yourself to as much Fukujinzuke (pickles) as you like. Overall, I think it's a user-friendly and good restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

I feel like shouting unnecessarily, urged to buy a meal ticket quickly here. The contents of the refrigerator are fully visible, and HI-C proudly serves in 4 minutes. The size is quite generous, and I opt for the large portion which is the same price. It even comes with extra curry sauce! I thought it would be easier to just pour it on from the start, but appearance matters. The extra sauce adds to the impact. The Japanese curry is quite thick and spicy. The custard set doesn't come with sauce, just soy sauce. It reminds me of how my dad used to put soy sauce on his tonkatsu. I enjoy the curry thinking about that. Even though I usually have sauce with my curry, I surprisingly find the tonkatsu curry without sauce satisfying. If I ever become a fool, I'll come back here to shout "Tonchiki"!

Since the stamp rally, I revisited this chain restaurant in Kanazawa for their curry. The rich curry goes well with Japanese rice. The toppings are cooked fresh after ordering, so they come out piping hot. The cutlet was bigger and overall the quality seemed to have improved.

I visited the restaurant because I wanted to eat thick and gooey katsu curry. It was crowded in Akihabara on Sunday, but I was able to enter without waiting in line around 1:00 PM. First, I ordered at the ticket machine. I decided to go for the double katsu curry (both tonkatsu). It was served in about 5 minutes. That was fast. It also came with extra curry roux. The large pieces of katsu were both crispy and hot since they were freshly fried. They were not too thin and had a satisfying crunch. It would have been nice if there was some sauce for flavor variation. The roux was Kanazawa curry, so it was thick and gooey. It had a coffee-like bitterness and wasn't too spicy. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to Kanazawa curry, it is served on a silver plate. The counter and chairs are a bit greasy. The curry is thick and sticky, with a slightly spicy taste. When eating Kanazawa curry, you also feel like eating a lot of cabbage, but at this restaurant, extra cabbage is charged at 100 yen. The curry at Jiman Aruba Akihabara Honten is delicious.
