I visited the restaurant after being intrigued by the tonkatsu chazuke featured in the web manga "Tokyo Late Night Girls" (Chapter 72). The tonkatsu coating was surprisingly crispy, and I really enjoyed the flavor of the cabbage. I thought it would have been even better if the sauce from the cabbage had seeped into the tonkatsu. The pickles alone were great, and they also complemented the chazuke well. I initially found the chazuke a bit bland with less tea, but adding extra sauce helped me achieve my preferred flavor. My companion found the taste too strong, but I thought it was just right. I would like to visit again when I go to Akihabara.

I tried Suzuya's tonkatsu ochazuke. The food was delicious, but when I arrived at 11:05, even though the restaurant opened at 11, there were a few empty tables but I wasn't seated right away, probably because there weren't enough staff. It took a while to be seated and even longer to place my order, so I ended up ordering around 11:40. I recommend going with some extra time to spare.

While taking a stroll in Akihabara, I happened to come across this place and decided to try it out. It was my first time here, so I ordered the famous tonkatsu rice bowl. We could choose from 4 different sauces, so we went with the classic soy sauce and the mustard soy sauce to share between the two of us! Personally, I preferred the mustard soy sauce. I would love to visit again!

Tonkatsu restaurant on the 3rd floor of Akihabara UDX. I was thinking of getting okonomiyaki but the wait seemed long, so I decided to sit at the counter and look at the menu. I wanted to try oysters since it's the season, but since it's a tonkatsu restaurant, I ordered the Aged Thick Cut Pork Loin Cutlet set. The tonkatsu was thickly cut and cooked just right inside. The breading was crispy and on the harder side. I prefer it a bit less crispy. You can have seconds of miso soup and cabbage for free, but the cabbage seemed a bit dry. The price is decent, but if you don't have many seconds, the cost performance is so-so.

I visited the shop in Akihabara UDX that I had been curious about every time I passed by, and tried the "Tonkatsu Chazuke". It was topped with slightly seasoned sautéed vegetables on top of the tonkatsu, and halfway through, I poured green tea over it. Thank you for the delicious meal.

A while ago, I had what I believe was tonkatsu chazuke in Shinjuku, but I don't remember it. I ordered tonkatsu chazuke with a side of miso soup (for an extra 120 yen) and added two oysters (for 680 yen). It wasn't quite like chazuke, more like tonkatsu marinated in sauce with boiled cabbage on the side. The spicy soy sauce was tasty and light. You can have unlimited refills of pickles, cabbage, and miso soup. It's quite generous that you can switch the miso soup and still get refills. It might be good for hungry young people. The chazuke was served with green tea, surprisingly delicious. The oysters didn't have a strong sea taste, but the batter was thick and not quite worth the price. I thought the tonkatsu marinated in sauce was quite tasty.

Akihabara's UDX from the 1st to the 3rd floor is a dining area, where the well-known Shinjuku restaurant "Suzuya" has opened a branch. You can enjoy decently tasty tonkatsu here. - Location: Very close to Akihabara Station - Crowdedness: No waiting on a late weekday - Ordered: Mixed cutlet with oysters and shrimp - Food: The presentation is appealing with a good amount of food, but the taste was just average. - Drinks: Not so great - Atmosphere/Service: The new restaurant has spacious seating. - Overall: The location is convenient but the prices are high for the average taste.

- Conclusion: This is actually an established restaurant. I visited it in Shinjuku a while back. The seasoning is quite strong, which makes it suitable for ochazuke, but achieving the right balance seems challenging. However, the ochazuke is undeniably delicious. It made me realize the originality of this way of eating. - Impression: Akihabara also has many dining options, but I remembered this place and decided to visit. It's located in a restaurant area inside a large building, making it easy to find. I chose the famous tonkatsu ochazuke. The idea of enjoying two delicious dishes in one plate is quite clever. However, the seasoning is on the salty side, both for the tonkatsu and the overall dish. I left about a third of it and turned it into ochazuke. The slightly bitter tea complements it well, making it delicious. It's well-made, and the creativity of the concept impressed me. Plus, the fact that you can have unlimited refills of cabbage, rice, and miso soup is a great service. I was truly impressed by this as well.

(First review) 05/28/2022 First visit. The items I ordered were as follows. [Food] ・Mega serving set meal (1800 yen. This set meal is famous for its tonkatsu tea-soaked rice, but I came here specifically for this menu. The set meal included three types of katsu: pork, chicken, and menchi. I enjoyed the crispy coating with sauce. Rice, miso soup, pickles, and cabbage are all-you-can-eat, so even if you finish the fried food, you can still get full with rice and pickles.) [Drink] ・Draft beer, medium size (600 yen. Asahi Super Dry. It was scorching hot in UDX, so I quickly finished the beer.) The total was 2400 yen. Next time, I'll aim for the Akihabara store-exclusive menu. Thank you for the meal.

Exiting the Akihabara Station Electric Town exit and going straight to the right (Electric Town North exit), you will find Akihabara UDX. There is a shop on the 3rd floor of Akihaba Ichi in Akihabara UDX. I tried the Akihabara limited menu special barbecue sauce pork loin set (200g) with miso soup changed to tonjiru. The special barbecue sauce matched perfectly with the pork loin. You can change the miso soup to tonjiru for an additional 120 yen. Tonjiru is recommended for those who love pork soup because it is full of ingredients. * Rice, cabbage, miso soup, and pickles are free for refills. So, I had a refill of rice. The rice is Tsuyahime. Tsuyahime is a rice developed in Yamagata Prefecture aiming to be the most delicious rice in Japan. It is said to even surpass the king of rice, Uonuma Koshihikari. I always fall for limited menu items. Even though it's a tonkatsu restaurant, tonkatsu < limited menu item... I couldn't resist ordering the Yoichi Highball drink when I saw it on the menu. Yoichi is one of my favorite whiskies. Takeout is also available. Next time, I think I'll go for the tonkatsu.

I visited Akihabara to replace my refrigerator and before heading to Yodobashi Camera's Multimedia Akiba, I decided to have a late lunch here. This place is famous for its "tonkatsu chazuke," and although I have been to the main store in Kabukicho, this was my first time here. UDX has many dining options, but I chose this one. The female staff warmly welcomed me, and the interior was not too spacious but had a glass wall at the back, creating an open and airy atmosphere. It didn't feel like a typical tonkatsu restaurant, which was nice. I ordered the following: - Ebi fry (2 pieces) and hirekatsu (2 pieces) set meal ¥1600 - Medium-sized beer ¥600 - Suzuya set meal ¥1480 The Suzuya set meal included one hirekatsu, one menchikatsu, and one ebi fry. The set meal came with rice, miso soup, and pickles, and you could have unlimited refills of the finely shredded cabbage on the plate. The hirekatsu was very tender with plenty of juices, and the light and crispy batter complemented it well. However, the ebi fry was thin and had a softer texture, which was quite different from the meat. The tartar sauce served was a bit too tangy for my taste. The rice was delicious with a nice chewy texture and a good balance of sweetness and umami. The miso soup was basic but sufficient, and the pickles were tasty. Overall, it was a satisfying and casual lunch experience.

This is a branch of Suzuya in Shinjuku, famous for its "tonkatsu ochazuke". Upon entering, you are prompted to disinfect with alcohol, have your temperature checked at your wrist, and then shown to your seat. The counter seats are equipped with acrylic boards for COVID-19 measures. Looking at the lunch menu, dishes like ginger pork set for 1000 yen seem reasonably priced, but the regular menu also offers options like oyster fry set for 1500 yen, making it a tough choice. I decided to go with the lunch special, the "Special Miso Sauce with Fillet Katsu and Chicken Katsu" with less rice, costing 1130 yen. It arrived fairly quickly. Rice, miso soup, and cabbage are all refillable. The main dish consists of two pieces of fillet katsu on the left and four pieces of chicken katsu on the right. Both the fillet katsu and chicken katsu were tender and delicious. The special miso sauce has a strong sweetness, which is tasty, but may be a bit overwhelming without rice or cabbage (it might get boring). Another nice touch was the generous amount of pickles. One thing worth noting is that they quickly clear your tray once you finish eating, possibly to prevent people from lingering. Overall, it was more delicious than I expected, so I'll try the "tonkatsu ochazuke" next time.

It's been about 13 years since I first tried this place, and it's my fourth visit in about 7 years. It's nice to be able to record old memories on Tabelog. I'm feeling nostalgic as I enjoy the tonkatsu chazuke. The price is still the same at 1500 yen. The taste hasn't changed either. The white rice is delicious. I easily get seconds. The pickles are also tasty, so I eat a little with the chazuke, then with the tonkatsu. The tonkatsu itself is moist with a soy sauce-based sauce, so if you prefer crispy, this tonkatsu chazuke may not be for you. It seems like it's prepared with the assumption that you'll eat it as a meal from the start.

Boiled cabbage? No, no, why hasn't this delicious dish become more popular? Cabbage and 4 pieces of tonkatsu with a bowl of rice Refill cabbage and rice, half of the cabbage and 2 pieces of tonkatsu with half of the rice Put the remaining rice, cabbage, and tonkatsu on top and tell the staff You'll also get some wasabi on top for a refreshing chazuke This has become a routine for me at this restaurant Another satisfying meal today.

I wanted to eat meat with my friends, and I was curious about the katsu ochazuke. I decided to try it, and it was delicious! It wasn't greasy, and the vegetables and meat were perfect in the ochazuke. It seems like a great place to casually drop by!

I used to frequent a tonkatsu ochazuke restaurant in Shinjuku. One day, some young folks wanted to eat meat for lunch, so we headed to Akihabara UDX and saw the sign for Ochazuke Tonkatsu Suzuya. It brought back memories, so we decided to go in. Of course, we ordered the tonkatsu ochazuke (with karashi soy sauce). The tonkatsu was a bit different from the usual, with a moist coating. On top of the tonkatsu, there were thick slices of cabbage, boiled or steamed maybe? This added a nice touch. Halfway through, we got more rice and pickles, then piled the remaining tonkatsu and cabbage on top for ochazuke. The tea was actually green tea, not dashi. At first, I thought it might be a mismatch, but the fragrance of the green tea complemented the dish well as we ate. It had been over 20 years since I last had it, so I wondered if it really tasted like this, but it was so delicious that I ended up eating two bowls of rice without realizing it. The young ones ate three bowls.

First of all, I want to make it clear that this restaurant tries to take away the food that you haven't finished eating. So, I have decided never to go there again. I plan to visit all the restaurants in UDX. This restaurant is a tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) place. They offer a variety of tonkatsu dishes, including a delicious tea-soaked rice dish. The standard menu includes fillet katsu, loin katsu set meals, and you can also add a menchi katsu set meal. The default soup is miso soup, but you can change it to all-you-can-drink tonjiru (pork miso soup) for an additional 120 yen. The fillet katsu is tender and perfectly fried, very tasty. The loin katsu has less fat, which some people may prefer, but the end pieces have a good amount of fat, making them very flavorful. The menchi katsu is surprisingly delicious, with a lot of meaty flavor and juices. Most tonkatsu places tend to skimp on the menchi katsu, but not here - it's really good! I even went for seconds on the rice and tonjiru. However, there was one issue - when I was eating the menchi katsu on the main plate, a staff member asked if they could take away the menchi plate. Sure, there's no cabbage left on the menchi plate, but it's still part of the food I was served. What's with this staff member?! It seems like they just want to finish the dishes quickly. The amazing taste I experienced earlier was instantly ruined by this incident. The food is quite good here, and I now feel like trying the tea-soaked rice dish, but thanks to this waiter, I have decided never to go back to this restaurant.

Tonkatsu Chazuke, a specialty dish priced at 1,480 yen. It was my first visit. I thought it might be empty on a Sunday night due to COVID, but it was surprisingly busy. Customers kept coming in one after another. There are acrylic boards between tables inside the restaurant. Upon entering, they check your temperature and provide hand sanitizer. The service is very polite, from taking orders to explaining the dishes. For my first Tonkatsu Chazuke, I chose the classic soy sauce flavor. I couldn't imagine it at all from the name "Chazuke", but it's like topping tonkatsu with boiled cabbage on a hot plate and finishing it with soy sauce. The breading isn't crispy at all. It's quite moist with a strong soy sauce flavor. However, this soy sauce tonkatsu goes really well with rice. I quite like the taste. Rice, miso soup, and cabbage are all-you-can-eat. As a Nagoya native, I don't expect tonkatsu breading to be crispy. It's my first time eating tonkatsu with soy sauce. The meal ends with chazuke. I leave a bit on my plate and finish it in a chazuke-style with nori. Personally, this was just okay. It doesn't have that refreshing feeling you get when eating something oily and then having it with something light. If that's the case, I'd prefer to eat it as it is until the end. It was undeniably delicious, so I'd like to come back again. Next time, I'll try the mustard soy sauce flavor.

I remembered the Tonkatsu Chazuke at Suzuya for the first time in about 10 years and suddenly felt like eating it, so I looked for a location other than Shinjuku and found one in Akihabara, so I went to eat there. Suzuya in Akihabara is located in a building with parking, so it was easy to get there even by car. The Tonkatsu Chazuke, after a long time, was delicious. In the past, I used to eat most of it with white rice and tonkatsu, and eat the remaining little bit as chazuke, but now that my stomach has aged, I ate most of it as chazuke. It was nostalgic and delicious. It was also nice that you could get refills of white rice, pickles, and cabbage. My son, who has a big appetite, asked for seconds.
