I was wondering what to have for dinner today, but I remembered a video I saw recently with delicious looking dishes from Kitchen ABC that I had been curious about for a while. I arrived around 1930 and found a line of about 10 people waiting outside the popular restaurant. I decided to wait in line. I couldn't decide what to order, but I chose the popular Greedy Set - Oriental Rice & Black Curry with Chicken Nanban Tartar for 1050 yen. I entered the restaurant after about 10 minutes of waiting, so the opening seemed good. The interior of the restaurant had a cluttered atmosphere, with 4 counter seats and table seats. A Southeast Asian-looking female waitress took our orders. The good smell coming from the kitchen was irresistible. The food arrived in about 10 minutes. It didn't seem like a huge portion, but it looked exciting. On the left plate was Oriental Rice with pork and leeks on the left, black curry on the right half, and an egg yolk in the middle. On the right plate was a piece of Chicken Nanban with tartar sauce and shredded cabbage. Miso soup was also included. I couldn't decide how to eat each dish. Should I use a spoon for the left plate and chopsticks for the right plate? Or should I use a knife and fork? I hydrated my mouth with miso soup, which turned out to be pork soup. It was delicious and flavorful. I dressed the salad and had a veggie-first bite. The dressing was surprisingly tasty, not too sour. Next was the black curry. It was as black as squid ink. When I took a bite, a rich flavor spread in my mouth. It was delicious. The black curry alone could make this restaurant popular. It had a good level of spiciness, leaving a pleasant aftertaste. Then came the Oriental Rice. It was quite difficult to eat the meat with rice. When I brought the spoon close to my mouth, I could smell the good scent of garlic. The seasoning of the pork was exquisite and delicious. The leeks were crunchy, adding a nice texture. I was torn between using the egg yolk with the curry or the Oriental Rice, but I ended up using it with the rice. The Chicken Nanban looked unappetizing with its soggy coating. However, it was surprisingly delicious. The seasoning of the soy sauce-based sauce was too good, making me crave for more rice. I used to think that crispy coating was the best for fried chicken, but I was impressed by this method of soaking it in sauce to enhance the flavor. The tricky part was how to balance the rice. Everything was so delicious that I wanted more rice. In the end, it cost 1050 yen. I paid in cash. It was a satisfying meal with rich and flavorful Western-style dishes that cater to the general public. I had a mixed set meal where I could taste a little bit of each specialty, and each dish was so delicious that I wanted to order them individually. Although it looked like a commoner's dish, it was truly a top-notch restaurant that competed based on taste. Highly recommended!

It had been ◯ years since I last visited this restaurant, and as always, the menu was extensive which made it hard to decide. But the black curry caught my eye and I couldn't look away. I also ordered Oriental rice and added a side of menchi. The black curry had a mysterious depth to it, almost like a swamp, and the Oriental part was a mix of vegetables and savory meat. The menchi was juicy and freshly fried, which was delicious. Before I knew it, I had finished my meal. Thank you for the feast!

I stopped by the Tokyo Geijutsu Gekijo after a concert for lunch. There were people waiting outside as it was lunchtime. The turnover was quick, and I was soon inside the restaurant. However, the restaurant was full of customers, and some customers hadn't received their food yet. I had already decided on what to order from the menu given outside. I raised my hand to order the dish. Everyone was quietly eating. As the dishes were being brought out, I couldn't help but glance at other people's dishes. The hamburger steak and grilled meat looked delicious. After waiting for about 10 minutes, my dish arrived at the table. It was curry. Black curry. As expected, it was flavorful. At first, I could taste the sweetness, but as I continued eating, the spiciness kicked in. It was delicious. Next time, I want to try the minced meat cutlet or the hamburger chicken nanban.

I visited the restaurant after a long time due to my carbohydrate restriction. The set meal with Indian rice, black curry, crab cream croquette, and miso soup for 980 yen is now considered very affordable. The taste remains the same as it was 25 years ago, which brings a sense of nostalgia. However, the staff has certainly changed over the years. Just to note, I visited right at the opening time on a holiday at 11:00 am, and by 11:10 am, there was already a line forming.

I ordered Oriental rice with toppings of fried chicken, but only received the rice. It wasn't particularly delicious, but it's a good choice if you're looking for a decent portion size and value for money. The restaurant scored 1.0/2.0 for cleanliness, staff, and operation, 0.6/1.0 for cooking, soup, and sauce, 0.6/1.0 for ingredients, noodles, and rice, and 0.9/1.0 for portion size and value for money.

Toshima-ku Nishi-Ikebukuro "Kitchen ABC Nishi-Ikebukuro store". The dining section of the "Handicraft Hall" Kinkado became independent and originated in Ikebukuro in 1969, with 4 stores in the surrounding area. A genuine "local restaurant" with 3-4 chefs in the kitchen. There are many ingredients in the miso soup, providing a sense of security with vegetables. High level of deliciousness, appearance, care, nutritional value, and cost performance.

Visited around 1 pm on Sunday. Located about a 2-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station West Exit B. It was crowded because it was a holiday, with a line forming. Waited for about 10 minutes before being seated. Ordered the Indian rice and chicken cutlet set for 950 yen. The Indian rice had tender pork and deliciously runny eggs. It was very filling. The chicken cutlet set came with salad. The chicken cutlet was crispy, tender, and tasty. The salad was fresh and crunchy. The portion sizes were generous and the value for money was excellent at 950 yen. I'm interested in trying other menu items and would like to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

On this day, I went to the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre to see a play and decided to have lunch at "Kitchen ABC" nearby. When I arrived at the restaurant around 11:30, there were about 10 people waiting outside. While waiting in line, the staff brought a menu and took our orders. There were also about 3 seats inside for waiting. After waiting for about 20 minutes, we were seated. I ordered the Omukatsu Curry. The visually striking black curry was generously poured over a loin cutlet and an egg wrapped in dry curry. It was unusual to find corn in the dry curry. The black curry was spicier than I expected. Both the loin cutlet and the dry curry were delicious, but the portion size was large. And it was cheap. The menu offered various combinations, making it a recommended place for a filling and affordable meal. Thank you for the meal.

I checked Tabelog before work in Ikebukuro. Arrived at 13:15 on Sunday, there were 7-8 people in line. I was able to enter the restaurant in about 20 minutes. It was busy with many people coming in and out, so the turnover was good. For 2 people, we sat side by side at a 4-person table. The place was bustling and you could tell it was thriving. As it was my first time, I ordered two popular items from the menu:
- Oriental Rice & Black Curry Set ¥980
- Indian Rice ¥780 (both come with miso soup)
The dishes were served in about 10 minutes. The set with the famous "black curry" was excellent! It had the taste of curry from a Western-style restaurant and was very unique and became my favorite. Eating it with a raw egg reminded me of my childhood. The "Indian Rice" can be described as a "plate-type oyakodon" in one word. I'm not sure what makes it Indian, but I liked the gentle taste. Overall, it became a restaurant I want to visit again. I wish there was a place like this in my neighborhood!

Visited to create memories in Tokyo. Got lost by going left instead of right after leaving Ikebukuro Station 1b, but if nothing happens, you'll arrive in less than a minute. I knew I would be confused by the menu at the Golden Set Meal, but when I actually went, I was truly bewildered. With the advice of the staff, I ordered Service B. There is no need to deeply consider why it's called Oriental. Just enjoy the delicious food that comes out. It was a good memory to have.

I went to Kitchen ABC once a month. Today, I visited the Nishi-Ikebukuro branch and finally tried the limited-time adult lunch. It included chicken nanban, octopus sausage, fried egg, shrimp fry, minced meat, and curry. It comes with a lunch that everyone, adults and children alike, will love, but please note that you can only eat it after 2:00 PM!

It was really delicious!! This was my first time visiting the Nishi-Ikebukuro branch. The interior of the restaurant was a bit smaller than the Higashi-Ikebukuro branch, but the turnover rate was fast so even if there was a line, we were seated fairly quickly. This time, I ordered the famous collaboration dish, the "Ori Curry"! It was a fantastic dish with Oriental rice and black curry served together. The Oriental rice was seasoned with pork, garlic, and other ingredients, and it was incredibly delicious. The black curry was quite spicy, but it went really well with the rice. Lately, I've had a big appetite, so the large portion was no problem for me.

The omurice curry costs 900 yen. It was darker than expected, almost like lava. Despite the color, the taste was gentle with a slight spiciness, making it easy to eat. The rice in the omurice was like a light curry pilaf, with a mild flavor that complemented the curry well. Even though I was full, I still wanted more of the curry... The cabbage portion was larger than I thought, and I felt satisfied. The miso soup had pork in it and was tasty. If you want to eat casual Western-style food in Ikebukuro, this is the place to go. Next time, I want to try the fried dishes. But I'm also curious about the Indian rice...

Deliciousness packed in every bite. The popular menu item at this restaurant is the Orikare Set A, where you can enjoy both Oriental rice and black curry at the same time, and you can also add your favorite side dish (today's special is crab cream croquette). The miso soup with plenty of ingredients is also included. Next time, I want to try the menchi katsu and chicken katsu too.

I was undecided whether to go to the east or west side of Kitchen ABC for my first visit, but I chose here. I arrived before 7pm and there were a few groups waiting in line. I ordered the Chicken Nanban set, Hamburg Rice (large serving), and a side of curry. The curry was my favorite. Thank you for the meal.

After the long weekend, I arrived at the restaurant at 11:00 am on Tuesday. There was only one customer ahead of me. I was planning to have black curry, but I ended up ordering the black curry with Oriental rice and crab cream croquette for 980 yen. The food arrived after a short wait. The Oriental rice, with the egg yolk shining beautifully, was delicious, and the black curry was consistently tasty. The crab cream croquette was exceptionally good, almost like something you would find in a famous restaurant! Thank you for the meal. It had been a while since I last visited this restaurant, but I will definitely come back again. ^ ^

Ikebukuro locals have been loving this restaurant since it opened, thanks to its unique dishes like Oriental Rice and Black Curry, which have a nostalgic Western meal feel at a reasonable price. I've been a regular customer since it first opened, even bringing my late parents along. Now, it has become a prominent name in the affordable Western meal scene alongside Nankai and Mitoya. As someone born and raised in Ikebukuro, I hope this place remains a beloved local spot for a long time. It was so delicious!

It was a popular restaurant with many customers. There were a lot of hardworking people. I had omurice and crab cream croquette. The omurice was a substantial portion, but very delicious. The crab cream croquette was hot and tasty.

I have been addicted to the "Karashi Yaki" dish and have been eating it a lot in July. I heard that there is a similar dish called "Karashi Yaki" at Kitchen ABC, so I decided to visit. Although they had it, it looked more like "seasoned pork belly" to me. However, they did have it!! It was actually the famous "Karashi Yaki" dish from Jūjō, now renamed as "Jumbo Yaki"! I ordered the spicy version called "Jankara" and it was delicious, similar to the original "Tonhachi" dish. It had a nice balance of sweetness and spiciness, with a good kick of heat. The ingredients included pork belly, tofu, green onions, and cucumber, and the sauce was on the light side. While it lacked the grated ginger and garlic of the original, it still had a nice garlic flavor. I would like to try ABC's "Karashi Yaki" next time!

I visited Kitchen ABC for the first time in a while. There are several branches in Tokyo, and this time I went to the Ikebukuro Nishiguchi branch. It was past lunchtime, so I was able to enter without waiting in line. It seemed like good timing because a line started forming after me. Today, I had the daily special set meal (880 yen). The daily menu included hamburger, spicy tofu, and meat croquette (with black curry sauce), which was quite a generous portion.
- Hamburger: A hamburger with a strong taste of spices, typical of a Western-style restaurant. The accompanying sauce was also delicious.
- Spicy Tofu: It was like a Western-style mapo tofu. It was spicy, but I found it quite flavorful. The spiciness was balanced with a delicious taste.
- Meat Croquette (with black curry sauce): A large croquette with black curry sauce. The sauce was very dark, almost like squid ink. Despite the striking appearance, it wasn't as spicy as expected and had a good balance of flavors. The dressing for the salad was also tasty. It's understandable why they sell it as a homemade dressing. The side pork miso soup was also delicious with plenty of ingredients. I introduce famous restaurants from all over Japan on my website. Please take a look if you're interested. http://posoposo.jugem.jp/

Kitchen ABC Nishi-Ikebukuro branch, a 4-minute walk from the west exit of Ikebukuro Station in Tokyo, offers an Indian rice with crab cream croquette set for 950 yen. I have been going to this Western-style restaurant since my student days, and it offers a reasonable price for a filling meal. I had some errands to run in Ikebukuro earlier in the day, so I decided to stop by after finishing. I arrived around 5 pm, and the restaurant was about 80% full. It took about 10 minutes after ordering for the food to arrive. The Indian rice is essentially a chicken and rice dish, but with pork instead of chicken, and it has a Western touch with bell peppers mixed in. The portion of rice is quite generous. The standout dish here is the crab cream croquette, which doesn't have visible crab meat but has a strong crab flavor that is surprisingly delicious. Although the price had increased by 90 yen since my last visit, I was satisfied. Another delicious Western-style meal today, thank you!
