食べてばかりのスナフキン
When looking at the reviews of a sushi restaurant in Tokyo that doesn't have a signboard, everyone seems to be saying two things in unison: "hard to find but great value for money." People are willing to go out of their way during lunchtime because it is worth it, and I also relied on Google Maps to get off the subway and find my way there. The location is within walking distance from Omotesando and Harajuku stations, but Meiji-jingumae Station is the closest. There is a small sign that says "Sanaka" on the stairs...! The restaurant is located deep in a residential area off Cat Street. And the signboard is technically there, but seriously hard to find. The only sign is on the door on the 3rd floor after climbing the stairs, saying "Sanaka SUSHI". I almost missed it. If it weren't for Google, I would never have found it. The lunch menu offers sushi starting from 1,200 yen per person. I arrived at the restaurant around 12:45 on a weekday. Even though I thought I had timed it after the lunch rush, there was still a line. The wait was about 15 minutes, and even after me, more customers kept coming in one after another. It truly is a popular restaurant as rumored. The lunch sushi options include 1,200 yen for one person, 1,500 yen for 1.5 people, and a special course starting from 3,800 yen. Since I was dining alone, I chose the most reasonable option at 1,200 yen. The miso soup arrived quickly, followed by 6 pieces of sushi - squid, tuna, shrimp, tuna, salmon, and scallop. I sat at the counter, and in front of me, there was a row of sake bottles lined up, making me really want to have a drink if I didn't have work later. The sushi was all delicious with just the right amount of shari, and each type of fish was really tasty. Afterwards, I had tamago, ikura, and a sushi roll. Despite the lack of a signboard at this sushi restaurant in Tokyo, and with the white wooden counter, it gave off a very expensive vibe, but getting all this for 1,200 yen is truly great value for money. The taste and service were excellent, and I thought next time I would come with family or friends to enjoy a leisurely meal and some drinks. The reason why customers keep coming despite the difficult-to-find location is because you can enjoy authentic Edo-style deliciousness at surprisingly reasonable prices. The next time I'm in Omotesando, I'll definitely visit again. By around 1 pm, it seemed like you could enter without waiting. Next time, I'll come at a different time. Note to self.【INFO】The restaurant mentioned here is "Edomae Sushi Aoyama Sanaka". Address: 6-14-1F, Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. Tel: 03-3498-3750.
