I visited PRESS BUTTER SAND at Daimaru Kyoto store located on B1F of Shijo Street in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City. It is conveniently located just a 1-minute walk from Hankyu Kyoto Line Karasuma Station and a 2-minute walk from Subway Karasuma Line Shijo Station, with direct access from the underground passage making it easily accessible from the train. There is also a facility parking lot available for those coming by car. This time, I purchased the Butter Sand Strawberry Chocolat (5 pieces for 1296 yen). It is a new butter sand flavor that combines the vibrant sweetness of Amaou strawberries with the rich aroma of chocolate. Made with Amaou strawberries from Fukuoka Prefecture, the strawberry butter caramel and the chocolate buttercream made from 70% cocoa couverture with a well-balanced aroma and flavor combine to create a delightful taste where the sweetness of the strawberries and the rich aroma of chocolate blend harmoniously. The butter sand features two types of cookies - a slightly bitter cocoa cookie and a gentle berry cookie - creating a bicolor effect. With its two layers of cream and two cookie colors, it looks very elegant. The crispy texture of the cookies paired with the cream complement each other well, making it delicious. It is perfect for a small token of appreciation, and I would love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you!

Located in Minato-ku Shirokanedai, BAKE was founded in 2013. They have popular cheese tart specialty stores and also expanded nationwide with their new brand store "PRESS BUTTER SAND." "PRESS BUTTER SAND" uses plenty of fresh butter from Hokkaido and combines butter with traditional Japanese confectionery to create innovative butter sandwich cookies. I purchased the classic butter sandwich and the seasonal limited edition amaou strawberry butter sandwich as souvenirs from their store in Kyoto Daimaru, which opened last year. The butter sandwich set includes 5 regular butter sandwiches and 5 amaou strawberry butter sandwiches in 2 boxes. The butter sandwich is a baked confectionery made by sandwiching buttercream between biscuits using a baking method, offering a crispy exterior and a two-layered filling of buttercream and butter caramel inside for a two-stage enjoyment. It makes a great gift to bring to others.

Butter Sandwich is said to be a 45mm x 45mm square canvas, and the practice of combining flavors is also being done. The flavors include rum raisin, black (chocolate), white (white chocolate), cheese, and the butter flavor permeates the cookie dough. The cookie is slightly firm but easy to break, with patterns for easy splitting. The rich cream contains caramel.

At the Amour Chocolat Festival held at JR Nagoya Takashimaya, there were chocolates displayed on a lower floor in addition to the 10th floor event space. Although they are not currently available on the lower floor, all varieties of freshly baked Press Butter Sand were being sold at Tokyo Station. I purchased the Framboise Press Butter Sand because I had never tried it before. It was made with white chocolate and raspberry ganache sandwiched between cookie dough, offering a nice balance of sweet and sour flavors and a crispy texture. I also bought a 3-piece set of Framboise and Chocolat Sand, Maru, and Black Cacao.

Press Butter Sand has opened at Daimaru Kyoto store B1F. Their signature product is a two-layered butter sandwich, one of my favorite sweets. I bought a pack of 5 Butter Sand <Lemon> (1242 yen). It is a butter sandwich made with plenty of lemons from the Seto Inland Sea. It has a refreshing aroma of butter cream, a crisp acidity of butter caramel, and a cookie with a balanced bitterness from lemon peel powder. The combination of crispy cookie and melting cream is excellent.

I happened to stop by Daimaru Kyoto store on a weekend morning and came across this. Lemon flavor is generally limited to the Chugoku region, but luckily they have it in stock at this Daimaru Kyoto store now. I bought the Lemon flavor of the Press Butter Sand. It seems like it was just released in the Chugoku region on April 24, 2020. The crispy baked dough is the same as the plain one, slightly fragrant and delicious. Inside, there is butter and lemon-flavored cream. The refreshing lemon flavor is very tasty. I think all the flavors are delicious, but the combination of this dough and refreshing lemon cream is quite good. The plain one with butter and caramel cream inside is a bit heavier. When paired with the lemon cream, it becomes lighter and you can easily eat it. If you want to eat it on its own, go for the Lemon flavor. If you want it as a side for coffee, go for the plain one. It's interesting how the taste changes so much with the difference in cream flavor inside the same dough. It's great that they are all delicious without any discomfort. I want to buy it again while it's still in stock.

I visited the store around 14:40 on Sunday. There were two people waiting in line for payment. I tried the butter sandwich for 1000 yen. I had heard that this was a popular shop, so I was expecting something unique, but it was quite ordinary. However, it was very delicious. I think it would have been more interesting to try the lemon or matcha flavors. The black one looked delicious, so I wish they would sell it at this store too. The outer layer was not as hard as I expected, so it didn't damage my teeth. I was worried that the filling might be too gooey based on the cookie shape, but it was solid. It was easy to eat. The store will be at Daimaru Kyoto until the end of March 2021.
