I love the atmosphere, taste, and the friendly staff at this restaurant. Starting with my favorite Sapporo beer, I also enjoy the variety of teppanyaki dishes, especially the potato salad with cheese and tonpei yaki. The red sausage and salted chicken gizzards are nostalgic favorites, and I always end with salt-grilled soba noodles. This time, I also tried the udon version and left feeling satisfied.

I tried several dishes including a black Betta and an a la carte dish. The main Betta didn't have the usual sweetness of cabbage, which was disappointing. The noodles were a bit thin, lacking a crispy or chewy texture, which seemed to be the restaurant's style. The tendon was made with beef tendons, not pork as I had imagined from the name. I would have preferred it with boiled tendons rather than grilled ones (personal opinion). The restaurant had a spacious layout and was free of greasy smells, making it a comfortable dining experience. The staff were cheerful and efficient, creating a pleasant atmosphere.

I went on a weekday night! It seemed quite crowded so it's better to make a reservation. We were able to sit at a table. We ordered salt yakisoba (fried noodles) and pork yakiudon (udon noodles) with medium spicy sauce! They cooked it in the kitchen and then placed it on the hot iron plate in front of us, so we could eat it piping hot! It tasted like Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki with a thin and crispy crust. It was very delicious! The okonomiyaki that wasn't too heavy was also good~ The sauce-flavored yaki was also delicious!

Visited the popular okonomiyaki restaurant "Mossan's Betayaki" in Omiya. This place is known for its Kyoto-style okonomiyaki, especially the Betayaki which is similar to Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki but with layers of batter, noodles, and ingredients stacked and grilled. The Betayaki here is flavored with salt instead of sauce. The Salt Betayaki has a satisfying Hiroshima-style feel to it. The fact that it's seasoned with salt instead of sauce is nice. There's something about the oil scraps inside that adds an addictive quality, though I can't quite put my finger on it. The Renkon Cheese, with thinly sliced lotus root and crispy cheese, tasted just as expected. The Oil Scraps Tamagoyaki was surprisingly fluffy and delicious, not your typical tamagoyaki. I couldn't really taste the oil scraps, but I'm sure they make a difference. The seasoning was just right. It was delicious. If you want to enjoy Betayaki in Kyoto, be sure to visit this place.

Today, once again, it was okonomiyaki day. Every two days, it's okonomiyaki life. This day, I had a drinking party around Kyoto Omiya, so of course I went to "Mossan's Beta-yaki". The "Salt Beta" here is something I crave regularly. The past posts about the Omiya store can be found here #Mach Mossan Past Logs. The original store in Minami has closed, and now only the Omiya store near the station remains. I didn't have a reservation, but there was one table available and I managed to slip in. Beef tendon with ginger - 580 yen. While waiting for the Beta-yaki to be ready, I nibbled on the chewy beef tendon with ginger. Egg omelette with oil crumbs - 680 yen. An egg omelette cooked to perfection on the iron plate, with tiny oil crumbs adding a nice touch. Salt Beta-yaki (large) - 1650 yen. The main dish was Mossan's original Salt Beta-yaki! I went for the large size. This extra-large Beta-yaki with noodles was full of volume. Finished with salt and mayonnaise, the surface had a crispy texture. It had pork belly and tempura bits. And the perfect balance of salt every time is what makes it so delicious. This dish breaks the common belief that okonomiyaki must be served with sauce. Sauce Beta-yaki - 1050 yen. I also ordered a Sauce Beta-yaki. While the salt version was delicious, the sauce version with plenty of sauce was also tasty. Both are different and both are good, that's the beauty of okonomiyaki. My craving for flour-based dishes was satisfied! And I received a sticker of "Romantic Beta-yaki Boy" on the way home, feeling content.

We visited the restaurant for dinner with a group of beer lovers and enjoyed beer. We had dishes like tamagoyaki with oil residue and okonomiyaki. Okonomiyaki is apparently called "beta-yaki" in Kyoto, but not in Osaka, right? The oil residue really does a good job. It's convenient being near the station.

A few minutes' walk from Omiya Station and Shijo-Omiya Station. I stopped by here today. The interior of the restaurant has only table seats, and the main menu consists of teppanyaki dishes. The specialty here is called "betayaki". I ordered the salt betayaki and some other food. Let's dig in! The salt betayaki is similar to okonomiyaki, but the batter is quite thin. The salt flavor is gentle and rather light. Personally, I prefer the negiyaki that I ordered at the same time. All the drinks were from the Sapporo brewery. So, bon appétit! It was a group visit this time, and it's definitely more enjoyable to share dishes with a larger group.

It was a cold day. The teppanyaki was delightful. The restaurant was bustling with locals. We made a reservation through Tabelog. We tried the famous Betayaki with salt, Potatoes Salad with Cheese, Special Betayaki, and Lotus Root with Cheese. It cost 4800 yen for two people. The Betayaki was delicious as expected, but the Potatoes Salad with Cheese had a rich and tasty flavor, I really liked it.

I didn't visit the main store, but went to the Omiya store near my home. I had the Tonpei-yaki and Special Betayaki. I forgot to take a photo of the Tonpei-yaki. When I eat Tonpei-yaki in Kyoto, there are many differences compared to Osaka, but here, the main ingredient is thick pork meat, and it was very delicious. Afterwards, I had the famous Special Betayaki. As someone who loves green onions, it was irresistible. Next time, I want to try the simple Butatama. Thank you for the meal.

The cheese cali-cali on the potato salad was deliciously crispy! I didn't know such food existed!! I will definitely order it again. The okonomiyaki was also my first time trying it, and I was amazed at how crispy the surface was. Personally, I prefer soba. I will definitely be a repeat customer!

Located near Omiya Station in Kyoto, this famous teppanyaki restaurant was originally established in Minami in the west, with this Omiya branch being created as a second location. It seems that the Minami branch has since closed down, leaving only this Omiya branch in operation. The Minami branch claimed to be the originator of Okonomiyaki and was selected as one of the top 100 Okonomiyaki restaurants. The skilled chef is the same person at both locations. I ordered the Salt Okonomiyaki, which currently costs 1350 yen. You can choose either soba or udon as a side. I chose soba. The soba is crispy, stir-fried with plenty of cabbage, pork, offal, and tenkasu. The portion is quite large, almost enough for one person. When ordering, it's worth noting that if you order one Okonomiyaki per person, you may not be able to order side dishes. Another option is to order a different dish, like Okonomiyaki, for the second piece. I've tried various flour-based dishes before, but this was my first time trying a salt-flavored one. The texture is crispy, with a strong saltiness. The salt flavor can be a bit overwhelming at first, but it enhances the sweetness of the cabbage. I wonder how the sauce flavor tastes, I would like to try it if I have the chance, but I was too full this time. The feeling of fullness and satisfaction is incredible.

I checked into a hotel near Kyoto Omiya Station and went for a stroll to find dinner nearby. I decided to try "Mossan's Betayaki Omiya Store," which is said to be the origin of okonomiyaki. The restaurant had a table available, so I was seated right away. I started with a refreshing glass of draft beer. I ordered the "Salt Betayaki (1350 yen)" and "Seseri Yaki (600 yen)" from the menu. The Salt Betayaki I chose had oil cake and soba. The Seseri Yaki was served in about 7 minutes, and it was not as spicy as I expected, so even my wife, who doesn't like spicy food, could enjoy it. The unique slightly chewy texture and umami of the seseri were delicious! It was refreshing with green onions, and the salt and pepper seasoning went well with alcohol. The main dish, Salt Betayaki, was served in about 12 minutes. It was delicious with the unique umami of salt mayonnaise and the mild acidity of mayonnaise. It was quite filling as it had plenty of cabbage and other ingredients. The entrance had a mesh screen for infection prevention. There was a smoking area next to it, so the smell of cigarettes was a bit bothersome. The female staff member was not very friendly, which was a shame. Thank you for the meal.

After finishing our usual work in the vicinity of Omiya Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line near Nijo Castle, we decided to have a celebration at a local Kyoto restaurant in the Fourjo Omiya area. Located just north of the intersection at Fourjo Omiya, the Omiya branch of the Kyoto gourmet restaurant, the birthplace of "betta-yaki," was our choice. We arrived around 5 pm and found the place empty, but within 30 minutes, it was packed with locals and tourists alike. We ordered three Black Label beers at 500 yen each and started ordering food, each of us choosing our favorites from the menu. We had seaweed salad for 500 yen, chilled tomatoes for 450 yen, potato salad with cheese for 700 yen, grilled beef tendon for 900 yen, grilled beef loin (sold out), raw beef intestines for 950 yen, and the mother's omelette for 450 yen. We enjoyed our meal with drinks and cheers, and then ordered more beers and some additional dishes. The fresh raw beef intestines were visually appealing and delicious, with a perfect balance of spicy sauce and texture. The seaweed salad had a great texture and flavor, perfect for pairing with drinks. The grilled beef tendon was incredibly delicious, with a rich umami flavor that intensified with each bite. We each added different drinks, such as highballs, sweet potato shochu, and tomato chuhai. The potato salad with cheese was a unique and tasty dish, and the grilled lotus root with cheese that followed was also a hit. We finished with the salt betta-yaki, which had a crispy yet fluffy thin crust topped with noodles and hormones, creating a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the original restaurant with its irresistible dishes.

Finally had the chance to eat Mo-san's Okonomiyaki after a long time! I've been thinking "I want to eat Mo-san's Okonomiyaki again" for a while now, and my wish finally came true. It was my first time at the Omiya store. I ordered based on the popular menu ranking on the wall. I always end up wanting to order the top-ranked menu items when I see these rankings. I'm the type who can't really take risks. Of course, everything was delicious. I want to go back and try more dishes at a leisurely pace!

On July 17, 2022, have you ever tried "Betayaki" when entering a store? I encountered another unique dish with an unusual name. This dish, called "Betayaki," consists of thinly cooked wheat flour dough layered with ingredients such as cabbage, noodles, and your choice of toppings. It is said to be the prototype of "okonomiyaki," similar to Hiroshima-yaki. However, it does not include "ika-ten" (a snack), and real squid is used in this dish. Similar dishes like Nikuten in Kobe, Don-Don Yaki in Tokyo, Ippen Western Food in Kyoto, Negiyaki, and Cabbage Yaki can be found, but Betayaki is characterized by thinly cooked wheat flour dough topped with ingredients (tendons, squid, oil residue, soba) and crisped on the surface to make the soba and oil residue crunchy. It is generously topped with salty mayonnaise, creating a delicious dish with a crispy texture. If you want to try Betayaki in Kyoto, it is said that you can't go wrong with "Mossan's Betayaki," a famous restaurant. The main store (Mibu) has been selected as one of the top 100 stores. The Omiya store, which opened about a year ago on July 4, 2021, is clean and tidy inside. I arrived before the 5:00 PM opening time and entered the store to take some photos easily. I ordered a shochu and green tea highball. The recommended dish was "Salt Betayaki," so I went with that. In the meantime, I chatted with the manager and staff. Even as a first-time visitor, the atmosphere was nice and made it easy to talk. I learned that the main store is located in Mibu and has been selected as one of the top 100 stores. Before I knew it, the Betayaki was ready. It was large! I got carried away with the conversation and forgot to mention that I have a small appetite. I declared that I would leave some uneaten. I used a spatula to eat it, following the Hiroshima style. - The crispy texture of the cabbage - The crunchy oil residue - The soba noodles were just right, crispy and delicious - The real squid had a nice bounce to it, enhancing the flavor - The mayonnaise on the surface had a slightly strong salty taste, possibly due to the day's temperature and humidity. Overall, it was a good first experience. Looking forward to my next visit! I was planning to go the next day as well, but I had to travel to "Yokkaichi," so maybe next time in December?

Omiya "Mossan's Betayaki" is all about okonomiyaki today. This day, I visited "Mossan's Betayaki" located just a short walk from Hankyu Omiya Station. I had been drinking nearby, so this was our second stop. I had been to the original store in Mibu, but this was my first visit to the Omiya branch that opened last July. The original poster of the "Romantic Betayaki Boy" is really cool. I would love to have a T-shirt with that design. I started with a Oni Lemon Shochu Highball for 500 yen. Cheers to Mossan's recommended drink. You can add extra shochu for 350 yen! Salt Betayaki for 1350 yen is a must when visiting Mossan. It is a Betayaki with salt, the original style created by Mossan. It is filled with a mix of soba and udon noodles. The plentiful noodles are chewy, and the crispy batter sandwiching the noodles and coarsely shredded cabbage provides a delightful contrast in textures. The chunks of grilled squid and the egg on top make it a hearty dish. The key point is the perfect balance of salt and mayonnaise. The Salt Betayaki pairs well with the Oni Lemon Shochu Highball. It's well thought out. I also ordered the Special Betayaki for 1350 yen in sauce flavor. You can choose between sweet, sweet and spicy, or spicy sauce. I went with sweet sauce. The crispy batter gradually softens with the sauce, offering a nice change in texture. I was curious about the Red Spicy Betayaki and Black Spicy Betayaki, but I decided to settle the bill at this point. The Salt Betayaki was definitely delicious!

I knew that there was a second branch in Shin-Omiya, but I never had the chance to go... I came with three friends to meet up with someone I hadn't seen in a while. The manager from the main branch is now in charge of this second branch. There are more seats here compared to the main branch, and it was full even on this day. We started with a toast with beer. The dishes we ordered included: - Tamagoyaki with green onions and pickled ginger - Wagyu beef liver - Wagyu beef tendon with a special sauce - Tomato cheese with plenty of cheese, a favorite among girls - Red sausage, a favorite among boys The manager, who was cooking alone because it was full, was very quick and we didn't have to wait long. The salt butter yakisoba here is a must-try, it was so delicious that we ordered another one right after finishing the first. The taste was just as good as the main branch. Thank you for the meal.

Mossan's specialty is salt-grilled "betayaki." It was my first time trying betayaki, and the yakisoba noodles were crispy and delicious. The salt flavor was great, not needing sauce. Yagen cartilage was not very tasty, lacking in texture and the meat was dry. Tamago-yaki with oil scraps was tasty, with the oil scraps adding a nice touch. Seseri grilled with red sauce didn't leave much of an impression. Grilled wagyu hoso with sauce was as expected, delicious. Grilled wagyu suji didn't leave much of an impression. Red wiener tasted as expected. I would like to come back to drink and have betayaki again.

When you get off at Shijo-Omiya Station from Arashiyama, head to the east exit of Omiya Station. It's super close to the station. In the hot Kyoto summer, being station-adjacent is a godsend. Eat all day, and finish the night with Kyoto's classic okonomiyaki. It's filled with roughly chopped cabbage, sweet and savory sauce, and the hot iron plate serves as your plate, so you can eat it piping hot until the end. The crispy edges that have become crunchy from the heat are also delicious. I wish I had about three stomachs...
