On this day, I went to Akihabara. I came to have lunch at Tenpura Tenpou, which I found out about from the reviews on MyRebi. I got off at JR Akihabara Station, went out of the central ticket gate to the central north exit, and walked along the JR viaduct on the left hand side. Passing through the passage between Akihabara Center Place Building and the viaduct in front of it, you will see Fujisoft Building in the back. The restaurant is located on the first floor of the building, towards the left side of the restaurant area. I entered the building at exactly 11 o'clock. The English pub HUB on the right side and the Akihabara Nikuzushi at the far left side will open at 11:30 and noon, respectively, so the shops are still closed and quiet. Now, when I approached Tenpou, even though it was supposed to open at 11 o'clock, it was still in preparation. I had no choice but to go to the FamilyMart in front of the shop and wait for the shop to open. After about 2 minutes, the blinds inside the glass that had been halfway down finally went up, and the lady came out from the store and changed the sign from "preparation" to "open for business". I entered the store as I had been waiting for this moment. Then, I was welcomed by the lady and the man in the kitchen with a "welcome", and I sat down in the middle of the counter with 8 seats in front of the kitchen. I ordered the Special Tendon for 900 yen (tax included). I had been debating whether to choose the Upper Tendon for 1,100 yen (tax included) before coming, but according to other reviews, the squid, which was the difference of 200 yen, was small and received negative feedback, so I decided not to go for the Upper Tendon. Also, although it was not mentioned on the menu, according to the reviews on MyRebi, there was a service for extra rice for the Tendon, so I asked the lady, "Can I have extra rice?" She replied, "Yes," so I asked for it. However, she hesitated for a moment when I asked, so maybe she didn't want to be known too much in advance. After waiting for about 10 minutes, the Special Tendon was brought to me with miso soup and pickles (pickled radish). The large portion of rice was completely covered with tempura toppings of 2 shrimp, small fish, eggplant, pumpkin, and green pepper, with a sweet sauce drizzled on top. The tempura was lightly fried to a crispy texture and hot, and tasted quite good. I enjoyed it until the end while adding extra sauce from the condiments on the table. The miso soup was a red miso with seaweed and chopped green onions, and it was on the salty side with a good dashi flavor, which suited my taste. If I get change back from a 1,000 yen bill, I would be satisfied. I finished eating in about 10 minutes and left the store, but no lunch customers visited while I was there. However, the phone rang shortly after opening, and the lady who answered it reported to the man in the kitchen that there were 13 reservations for the evening. Listening to the conversation between the lady and the caller, it seems that they are regular customers. The location of the building is not exactly ideal for passing by, and it may not be particularly convenient, but around noon, many people working in the building or nearby may visit, and in the evening, customers may gather to enjoy tempura and drinks.
