There is a daily changing special rice bowl, and today it is the Uni (sea urchin) topped Negitoro (minced tuna with green onion) Special. When transferring at Akihabara, I often get off there. Depending on which direction I go, I head towards Ochanomizu for a meal, Ueno for electronics, or Asakusabashi for Yodobashi. However, when I walk out of the Showa-dori exit in Akihabara and cross the signal, many people head straight to tonkatsu or ramen, causing the crowds to thin out. Kanda is a popular spot for places like Oyaji and Moto no Sho, but I prefer to walk from Kanda when going there, making Iwamotocho a blank area. A little further down from the Showa-dori exit, there is Kikusushi facing Showa-dori, but it may not stand out unless there is a long line. Therefore, it is a hidden gem where office workers and OLs in the area can enjoy their lunch without having to wait in line. I heard that the recommended lunch here is the 1.5 times portion of sushi, but today's daily special rice bowl is the Uni topped Negitoro Special, which looks very appetizing. The Uni may look unattractive due to its dark color, but it is a delicious type of Uni. The base is mixed with Negitoro and pickled radish, topped with salmon roe and sea urchin, with plenty of green onions. Although there seems to be a bit too much pickled radish, the Negitoro with green onion is delicious and satisfying. The price ranges from 1000 to 3940 yen, depending on your preference. Enjoy!

I visited the restaurant with a guest. It seems to be a popular spot with many regular customers. We had a course meal and everything was delicious. The portions were generous. It would have been nice to be able to drink a little more slowly as the restaurant closes early.

I went for the weekday lunch special at ¥1100, and it was crowded with office workers (including myself). The turnover was fast, and I was seated within 10 minutes. I ordered the popular No. 1 dish, Negitoro Special, which was delicious with shredded cucumber, green onions, pickled radish inside the negitoro. It also came with salmon roe, seaweed, pickled ginger, and rolled omelette on top. The restaurant was clean and welcoming, suitable for solo diners as well. Thank you for the meal!

Nearby Company Lunch Series #186. Today, I went to have lunch near the office by myself. Since the always crowded Kikusushi was not lined up outside today, I decided to have lunch there. The restaurant is located right along Showa Street, just a short walk from Iwamotocho Station A4 exit. The exterior is glass-fronted with a traditional Japanese-style curtain for privacy, and there is seating available inside for those who wait. The interior has a bright wooden feel, with both counter and table seating options, and overall, it is clean and well-maintained. I visited around 12:30 pm, and the restaurant was almost full and bustling. There were two male chefs and two female servers. I ordered the negitoro don (minced tuna and green onion bowl). The dish arrived in about 2 minutes. While there were many lunch menu options available, I chose the most affordable negitoro don. The bowl came with thickly sliced tamagoyaki (Japanese omelette), seaweed, and ginger, and the combination of green onion and tuna was delicious. I didn't realize that I could have gotten a free extra serving of rice, but in hindsight, it would have been a better balance with the toppings. The miso soup that came with it had seaweed as an ingredient and was also tasty. I could see why this sushi restaurant is so popular.

I found a small sushi restaurant called "Kikusushi" along Showa Street near Akihabara Station for lunch. I ordered the 1.5-person sushi set for 1,600 yen, which included a variety of colorful sushi and a bowl of seaweed soup. The sushi was delicious and just the right amount to satisfy my hunger. The atmosphere was cozy, with the chef and regular customers chatting. It seems like a popular spot for dinner as well. Overall, it was a great dining experience.

Close by, there are no sushi restaurants around here, and yet, I didn't meet up with anyone. Oh, I see, they close early at 1:30 pm. "Kiku Sushi" is always closed by the time I get there at 2 pm, during the time when men are not around. Every day, my stomach craves it. What should I get... "sushi~" The recluse in me is starting to feel like going out lately... Maybe I should go for sushi, somewhere new like the recently opened "Magurojin Ueno Hirokoji Branch," or even venture out to the "Magurojin New Nakamise Store" in Asakusa. But it seems like a hassle. Hmm... Maybe I should go to "Uogashi Sushi" in Takeya, but is there one around here...? No, there really isn't. Ah, I remembered! "Kiku Sushi." It's always closed, or rather, only open at night. It seems like they also open for lunch. Haha, I usually pass by after they've closed. The pattern of being distant or estranged because I don't pass by "Kiku Sushi" often enough. I've arrived quickly on my bike, right on time. It's almost empty when we arrive. After we placed our order, the place quickly filled up. It's popular here, with many familiar faces. When I come here, I always greet the head chef first. The counter is set up for solo diners, so I ended up sitting at a table by the wall for the first time. Let's go for nigiri and chirashi. If it's just the two of us, we can order different things to share. "Nigiri" and "Chirashi" it is. The presentation is not disappointing. The fish slices are generous and the tuna shines. The tuna is not medium fatty, but each piece is otoro. Based on this visual impression, it doesn't seem like "Kiku Sushi" is a bad choice. Here are the impressions of the light eater: the shrimp is big and firm, good chewiness and taste. The fatty tuna is rich without being overwhelming. The lean tuna is moist and flavorful as expected. The egg is ordinary but I always end up liking it the most. The conger eel is plump and well-prepared. The simmered shiitake mushroom is not too sweet and has a nice dashi flavor. The rice is slightly soft. Towards the bottom of the bowl, it's a bit mushy. The light eater only eats the top, so I end up eating the rest, which fills me up nicely with just two servings. It's been a while since I visited, but since there are no sushi restaurants around here, I'll rely on "Kiku Sushi" for now. I'll try to wake up early again soon to visit.

JR Akihabara Station, across the pedestrian crossing at the Showa-dori exit, you will find a sushi restaurant that catches your eye as soon as you head towards Iwamotocho. I visited for lunch on a weekday. The interior has a large counter at the center surrounded by tables, very neat and orderly. The large windows bring in plenty of natural light, making the place bright and inviting. The chef and the hostess are friendly and engage in conversations with customers, creating a pleasant atmosphere. I ordered the "1.5 servings of nigiri sushi (\1,600)". I sat at the counter and the sushi was not served one by one as the chef prepared them, but they all came together on a sushi geta. It arrived in 7-8 minutes. The sushi pieces were colorful, with prominent red, white, and yellow colors. They looked like toys and would surely delight children. There were 2 pieces of lean tuna, medium fatty tuna, and the yellow one was herring roe, a less common sushi topping. In addition to regular squid, there was also squid legs, adding variety. The only disappointment was the lack of my favorite shrimp. With 10 pieces of nigiri and extras like rolls and inari sushi, the portion size was generous, even for adult men. The miso soup, surprisingly without any ingredients, was delicious. It was packed with seafood flavor, making it a standout dish. Sitting at the counter next to solo OL customers also made the dining experience very approachable. The sushi was of standard quality, but considering the price, it was a great value.

This is a sushi restaurant near Akihabara Station. Whenever I go around 12 o'clock, it's always packed and I can't get in, but this time I was lucky enough to get a seat! I ordered the nigiri 1.5 from the lunch menu. It came with 11 pieces of sushi and a roll, and even though I'm a man, I was really full! The squid was especially delicious that day! There was a lot of lean tuna, which I love, so I was really happy with the lineup. Looking at other people's photos, it seems like the contents may vary slightly depending on the day. It was a great restaurant, so I plan to visit regularly!

Lunchtime is always crowded here, so I rarely have the opportunity to dine in. If I miss the peak time, the restaurant is already closed, so the timing never seems to work out. On this day when I was in the mood for sushi, I passed by the restaurant around 1 pm and saw only a few customers. So, I decided to enter after a long time. There were three of us, so we were seated at a table. Nigiri sushi (9 pieces) for 1100 yen including tax. It was my first time having sushi here. I was excited to see what kind of sushi they would serve. First, I had miso soup. The broth was rich and the ingredients were minimal. Some sushi restaurants serve red miso soup to make you drink the miso, but here it was more about enjoying the broth. It was delicious. I drank the soup to warm my stomach. The sushi was neatly arranged. Maple leaves were placed on top, and although the types of fish were common, the presentation was beautiful with a good balance of light, medium, and fatty fish. The squid was a bit tough to chew, but overall the fish was thick and satisfying. Personally, I really enjoyed the tamago (sweet egg). It was a slightly sweet rolled omelette, and even though I don't usually like sweet egg dishes, I could eat this one. The sushi chef and the hostess were both very friendly, and despite being a sushi restaurant, there was no pretentious or intimidating atmosphere. We all had a very pleasant and satisfying lunch, and didn't want to go back to work.

Exit from Akihabara Station at the Showa-dori Exit and head south. Located on the east side of Showa-dori, before Izumi Bridge, on the 1st floor of a building. It was a Saturday in Akihabara, so there was no wait to enter. The interior of the restaurant is clean, with counter and table seating available. Sushi restaurants can sometimes feel intimidating, but the atmosphere here was warm and welcoming. I ordered the nigiri set of six pieces and negitoro for lunch, priced at 1,500 yen. All the sushi was delicious, but the anago (conger eel) was especially amazing. The generous portion of negitoro was also outstanding. For 1,500 yen, this sushi lunch was a great deal.

JR Akihabara Station East Exit, just in front of it is Edomae sushi restaurant, Kikusushi. They have an L-shaped counter, tables, and private rooms. I visited during lunchtime and ordered the daily special A (1,500 yen including tax). I thought it was a chirashi, but it turned out to be a tuna bowl. It included medium fatty tuna, lean tuna, fatty tuna, tamagoyaki, ikura, green onion, pickled radish, pickled ginger, and a hot spring egg. Wasabi was powdered, which is rare nowadays. The vinegar used for the rice was white vinegar. Personally, I would have preferred a simpler tuna bowl. Therefore, I didn't need the hot spring egg, or I would have liked it served on a separate plate. It was my mistake for not reading the description carefully and ordering based only on the photo. It seems that at this restaurant, the tuna zuke bowl also comes with a hot spring egg. There seems to be a trend of wanting to add hot spring eggs, perhaps because many customers in this area prefer it.

Lunchtime was a casual mood. I was drawn in here. I didn't search on Tabelog beforehand. It's truly a hit-or-miss situation. I'm so tired I feel like collapsing. I want to eat meat, but for lunch, maybe fish. There was my favorite Negitoro bowl, so I ordered it right away! Negitoro bowl for 900 yen (tax included). Tax-included pricing is appreciated. I'll keep saying it, but the 10% consumption tax is frustrating. With the coronavirus causing a worse recession than the Lehman Shock, the government had been touting a good economy, but it's clearly been a recession for a while, and the situation is getting worse. We don't need those cheap school lunch masks (Abenomasks). I wish they would stop treating the people like fools. Now, let's set aside that anger and enjoy this delicious bowl. Let's at least enjoy this moment. I can't telework at my job. The subway is less crowded than before, but there are occasionally passengers not wearing masks, which is scary. I'll run away the moment they cough. Fortunately, commuting time has been reduced, so the risk is lower than before. The bowl has plenty of Negitoro. That's nice. The wasabi is a cheaper type, which is a shame, but it's under 1,000 yen so it's all good. The rice comes in a free large portion, but I'm not young, so I'll refrain from getting the large portion. I want to maintain a smart body forever. The miso soup is the delicious kind you get at sushi restaurants. Sushi restaurant miso soup is my favorite. I'd like to come back here again. When I looked it up later, the score was close to 3.5. It seems like a place where I could become a regular and have good conversations. Thanks for everything. Bon appétit.

I had some errands to run in Akihabara that day. Before I knew it, it was time for lunch. I felt like having sushi... but sushi in Akihabara just didn't seem to go together. As I was pondering this, I spotted this restaurant and impulsively went inside. The interior wasn't very spacious, but both the counter and table seats were full of customers, so it seemed to be quite a popular place. I managed to find a single seat just in time and ordered the lunch sushi set. After a short wait, the sushi arrived. It looked delicious with its slightly larger size... and it tasted great too! I was satisfied with the portion size and left the restaurant feeling content.

There is a sushi restaurant in Akihabara. It is located 2.3 minutes from Akihabara Station. I went there around 12:00 on Friday and there were 5 groups waiting. It seems quite popular. I ordered the Nigiri 1.5 (1500 yen). It's a good deal with 11 pieces of sushi and 2 types of rolls. Plus, it comes with miso soup with seaweed. The quality of the sushi was really good, especially the sardine which tasted like fatty tuna! The service was efficient, and the sushi chef was skilled at managing the seating. Overall, it was quite delicious. I would like to try a higher-grade sushi menu next time!

The day before yesterday, I went to "Kikuzushi" in Akihabara for lunch. This sushi restaurant is located a bit away from the electric town of Akihabara, on the opposite side of the Yamanote Line, and it is a non-conveyor belt sushi restaurant. It seems to be quite popular, as when I arrived at 12:30, it was crowded and some menu items were already sold out. When I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by a cheerful and friendly lady who guided me to the counter seat. I ordered the popular "Negitoro Special (¥1,000)" with extra rice. It was served in about 3 minutes and it was a satisfying seafood bowl made by a sushi restaurant. The soup, maybe it was seaweed miso soup, had ingredients that I like and was delicious. However, I felt that ¥1,000 was a bit pricey. Especially in Akihabara. It would be better if they lowered the price to ¥880 or added another dish.

The peak lunch time always has a line outside the restaurant. On this day, the turnover seemed to be good, as we only had to wait a little past 12 o'clock and were able to enter immediately with just two people. The restaurant is small but clean and lively. We were seated at the counter, but there was no sense of tension. I ordered the Marinated Tuna Bowl (with hot spring egg) for 800 yen (tax included). It took about 10 minutes from ordering to being served, but it was not a problem as I was with a friend. The hot spring egg came in a separate dish. The bowl also came with miso soup. The tuna had a thick red meat with no sinew, a good balance of firmness, and a sweet tamagoyaki. There was also chopped seaweed, wakame, and sweet vinegar ginger pickle. The rice was vinegared rice, fluffy and moist. The overall taste balance and portion size were just right, giving a good impression of a well-prepared meal. In addition to the bowl, there were also sushi rolls for around 1000 yen. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the price point make it a good value for what you get. There were many adult male customers, but the restaurant also seems to appeal to women.

I visited Kikusushi in Akihabara for lunch. Today's special service was the large-sized negitoro bowl for 1,000 yen. The fatty tuna was delicious. The harmony of the green onions and pickled radish was exquisite. Of course, the fish was fresh, so I will definitely visit again.
