Oh, it's so far away. Feels like a light trip ^_^ It's in Hachioji City. I've only been here once in the past, at the Mejiro-dai branch. I remember the pork fat being delicious. It's just before 12 pm on a weekday. There's no line. Just as the group before me finishes seating, I buy my meal ticket and wait at the last seat in the back. I wonder if more people will come after this? I thought to myself, but the 6 seats in the back waiting area filled up. The shop has a counter with 8 seats on the left side, 6 seats in front of the shop, and 4 seats on the right side, forming a U-shape. I ordered a small ramen. I observe the shop for a while. There are 3 staff members, including a part-timer. With 18 seats, they probably serve 6 bowls per round... etc. The shop manager, wearing a crisp white uniform, is teaching the part-timer various things. The customer service is really good. "Would you like garlic?" I call out, "Extra garlic, extra pork fat!" The ramen is served. Despite asking for extra garlic and pork fat, the presentation isn't that impressive... But oh my! It's delicious. The soup reminds me of the oily taste of Jinbocho, with a strong sauce and just the right amount of extra pork fat mixed in (^○^) The noodles are cooked perfectly, providing a satisfying chew. The chashu is incredibly generous. It's about the size of a fist, with a smaller piece hidden under the noodles. The right amount of tenderness and great flavor penetration. The vegetable portion is quite substantial by default, with a high cabbage ratio that tastes great. Everything is of high quality, and the value for money at 800 yen is amazing. I definitely want to come back!! But it's quite far, so it feels like a mini-trip (laughs). An estimated 80-year-old grandma who came in after me... Can she finish it? She added extra vegetables (laughs). It seems impossible for her to finish it. But she took a bus all the way here and has been here before. "Oh, I wonder if there's no meat in it?" It's amusing. If she had eaten it at a fast pace, I would have thought she was a strong eater, but I didn't have time to see her finish it. Still, the staff and the customer next to her were explaining things patiently. It's heartwarming to see that. It's a Jiro I definitely want to visit again.

Mejiro-dai / Ramen Jiro Mejiro-dai Store [Incredibly Healthy Jiro! Easily Enjoyed Z] I had some business at the Land Transport Bureau, and on the way back for lunch, I had a choice between Yasaru or Kamejiro-dai. I hesitated a bit, but decided on the unvisited place, and the westernmost point of Kanto Jiro, Mejiro-dai. Luckily, the parking lot of the restaurant was empty, and I arrived a little after opening, bought my meal ticket around 11:40, and was able to sit down smoothly. However, I just missed the timing by a little bit, probably the first person of the 4th batch from the opening (regret). I wanted to slip in by the 3rd batch - tears. And the worry was whether I could eat it or not. Flashbacks of the nightmare of Smoji from last time. Will I leave food behind again? How is my health? I ran 12 km last night, so am I hungry? Or will that make me feel unwell? I thought about various things. But well, I should be able to handle a mini ramen!! So, with baseless positivity, I ordered with a raw egg. I admired the careful work in the kitchen and made my call. Garlic, a little shoyu, extra vegetables, extra lard. After a while, the bowl arrived. A bowl that was served without overdoing it. (I can handle this, I did a fist pump) The mini ramen comes with one slice of pork. First, the soup. A crisp taste, a light non-emulsified soup. Since there is FZ on the table, I think adding extra shoyu is not necessary, but there were many people adding it. The vegetables were crunchy, with a lot of cabbage. I'm happy. The pork was juicy, tender, and had a moderate elasticity - delicious. With it being so tasty, I felt a bit lonely with just one slice of pork, and I regretted not getting a half portion of ramen. The noodles were not too soft or too firm, just medium. As for the noodle portion, whether I was hungry or the noodle portion was appropriate, honestly, it was an easy win this time. I even thought about eating more after leaving the restaurant, which I have never done before in a Jiro. It was managed by two people, and the service was very polite. However, like in any other Jiro, there seemed to be many first-timers, and the call and response didn't really work, and I thought the Smoji master would be furious (laughs). And so, I thoroughly enjoyed Mejiro-dai's Jiro. It was delicious. But, I felt like it was similar to some other store, I wonder where it was... Ordered the mini size. The owner used to work at Noyagi, so the overall taste is on the richer side. Also, the oiliness from the previous owner is gone. It's a bit thicker than Noyagi, with a satisfying chewiness to the noodles and juicy pork. This place is recommended for beginners at Jiro-style ramen, especially the mini size. Definitely try it out.

Visit date: September 3, 2023 (Sunday) Visit time: 10:45 Number of people waiting: 8 Opening time: 11:00 Number of people waiting at opening: 18 Order: - Small ramen 800 yen - Raw egg 50 yen Located about a 10-minute walk from Mejiro Station. The thick noodles have a strong wheat flavor. The noodles are nicely coated with a rich non-emulsified soup. The three large pork slices are well-seasoned, and the vegetables are tasty. Whether it was the generous portion of noodles or my own condition, I felt 120% full. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

I finally went to the newly opened Mejiro-dai branch run by the assistant of Noyen, and it was so delicious! The noodles were a bit thinner than usual, and they offer a mini ramen for those who can't eat a small ramen. Highly recommended!

I entered the restaurant around 12:30 on a weekday. About 80% of the seats were taken, but I was able to be seated immediately. I ordered a mini ramen for ¥700 and a raw egg for ¥50, totaling ¥750. The ramen was oily and just the right amount for someone like me who enjoys eating but isn't a big eater. The noodles were soft and easy to eat. The soup was rich without being too heavy. The vegetables were crunchy, and the pork was tender and flavorful. I like to dip the noodles in the beaten egg, sprinkle plenty of black pepper, and enjoy it like a carbonara dish. It was smooth and just the right temperature. I recommend it for women. I often struggle between Noyasaru and Mejiro-dai, but they both have their own unique charm. I will continue to visit both in the future.笑

Jiro Ramen: 900 yen + Raw Egg: 50 yen Located about a 10-minute walk from Mejiro-dai Station on the Keio Line, Jiro Ramen Mejiro-dai store. I visited around 13:30 on a weekday, waited about 30 minutes to get in, and then the huge bowl of ramen arrived! It had been a while since I last had it, and I was really hungry, so the full topping of Jiro Ramen was quite impressive when it arrived, with a delicious aroma that really whetted my appetite. The non-emulsified soup had a strong umami flavor yet was refreshing. The soft noodles absorbed the flavor of the soup, allowing me to slurp them down without any worry! When I dipped the raw egg topping, it added a sukiyaki-like flavor, creating the perfect taste variation. The large and flavorful chashu had a satisfying amount of fat, making it irresistible. Although it was my first time having Jiro Ramen with all toppings, surprisingly, I was able to finish it all without any problem. The staff were friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere for first-time visitors. If you're interested, definitely give it a try!

The soup is a light emulsification, and the noodles are slightly thinner compared to other Jiro-style ramen shops. The staff's call of "Would you like garlic?" is very polite, as they make eye contact with each customer. This makes it a recommended shop for beginners who may be unsure of how to order at a Jiro-style ramen shop. I visited on a Monday night and there was only one person waiting outside, possibly due to the location in the suburbs. I ordered with extra vegetables, garlic, and oil. The bowl arrived in about 20 minutes. The vegetables were slightly crunchy with a generous amount of cabbage. The sweet oil was delicious, and the pork was truly amazing. Despite being thick, the pork had a great texture and was cooked perfectly. It was the best pork I've had at a Jiro-style shop. The thin noodles were easy to slurp, and the emulsified soup had a hint of pork sweetness. Overall, I would rate this bowl a 95 out of 100 in all categories - noodles, soup, vegetables, oil, and pork. It's a highly recommended bowl even for Jiro beginners. I encourage you to visit and try it out.

I happened to pass by this store last Saturday and noticed that it was open, which prompted me to visit. I had been to this shop before, probably at a different location many years ago when it was affiliated with universities like Hosei University, but it had been closed for a while and reopened in June as a beautiful new store. I had heard that the portions at this shop were quite generous, with some people unable to finish their meals. So, although I originally wanted to try the "Ko Buta" (950 yen), I ended up ordering the "Mini Ramen" (700 yen). In the end, the portion was just right for me. Despite not seeing anyone else ordering a mini size, I felt relieved that I chose the smaller option. I actually wanted to add an extra slice of chashu, but considering my current ability to enjoy Jiro-style ramen, I can handle up to about 250g of noodles before boiling. Now, onto the taste - it was truly authentic Jiro-style ramen. The noodles, chashu, vegetables, and especially the broth were well-balanced and very delicious. Although the menu currently only offers ramen, I believe that as they become more established, they will expand their offerings. I look forward to that. Thank you for the meal.

The previous owner fell ill and closed the shop, but a new owner took over and reopened in June 2023. I went with a friend who loves Jiro-style ramen. I saw on Twitter that they open at 10 am on Sundays, so we met up at Mejiro-dai at 10:45 am and arrived in about 5 minutes. Luckily, there was no wait. I had heard that the portions were quite generous, so I opted for a small size. I ordered with extra vegetables, garlic, and oil. The ramen was indeed very filling, with a non-emulsified soup, homemade noodles made with ocean water, a generous amount of pork, and delicious oil-covered vegetables. It had the authentic taste of Jiro-style ramen. And all of this for only 800 yen. Even though it's far from my home, I would like to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

I had always wanted to try Menya Musashi Jiro, and as someone who can eat quite a bit, I was excited to see how much I could handle. I ordered a small ramen with normal noodles, extra garlic, and extra oil. It was intense! The portion size was no joke! I thought I could handle a lot, but this was my limit. Who on earth can finish a large ramen with all the toppings?! The flavor was just as I expected, very Jiro-like! I especially loved the rich oil flavor (although it got a bit overwhelming towards the end). The noodles had a great chewy texture too! I recommend this if you're looking for a hearty meal, but with this amount, it turned into more of a food challenge for me. For the average person, I'd suggest getting less noodles or a mini size. When I sat down and saw the person next to me finishing their bowl, I got nervous. But when my bowl arrived, I was trembling! The fear of not being able to finish, the endless vegetables, and my curiosity all made my heart race at the beginning. But once I got about halfway through, I felt more at ease. Although suddenly my stomach started to feel full... By that time, the line outside had gotten pretty long, so I pushed myself to finish it all quickly! I left behind some small bits of oil, vegetables, and noodles in the soup - I regret that. They open at 11 am on weekdays, and around 11:20 am, all the seats were taken with about 7 people waiting by 11:40 am. When I pass by in the evening, it's not as crowded, but on weekends, it's even busier! The staff here are really kind, making it a beginner-friendly Jiro shop! The gentleman next to me accidentally called out his order when handing in his ticket, but the staff kindly said, "I'll be back to check on you later!" The atmosphere was great!

Visited the Jiro Mejiro-dai ramen shop for lunch today. It was my first visit since the owner changed. I ordered the small ramen with less noodles, priced at 800 yen. I requested garlic and extra pork fat. The soup had a nice punch from the seasoning. The flat, thick noodles had a pleasant texture. The pork slices were about 1 centimeter thick and very filling. Although I was worried I wouldn't be able to finish due to the reduced noodles, I managed to eat it all. Next time, I'll opt for the mini size. It was delicious. Thank you.

I visited Menjiro in my late 40s and fell in love with it. This visit to Menjiro Dai is my fifth since June 2021, but the previous owner fell ill and the shop closed in February this year. It reopened on June 18th with a new owner, and this was my first visit since then. Access to the location is a bit challenging, as it is in Menjiro Dai station, two stops before Takao station on the Keio line. As someone living in Urayasu, it was quite a journey for me, crossing Tokyo from east to west, and then a 10-minute walk from the station. I aimed to arrive an hour before the 11 am opening time, but saw on Twitter that they were opening at 10 am. I arrived at 9:55 am on a Sunday and there were already 10 people waiting. Luckily, I could get in the second batch, probably because I arrived early enough to be in the shade while waiting in line. The shop has a counter seating arrangement in a U shape, with 13 seats and an additional 5 seats at the back. The spacing between seats is quite generous. The shop is operated by the new owner and a young assistant. The owner seems to be from Noyarumichi, but as someone with little experience there, I didn't recognize him. The shop has strong air conditioning, which was great on a hot day. The cups were slippery from oil, and there were chopsticks and spoons on the tables. The condiments available included Kaeshi, black pepper, and coarse ground red pepper. The first batch of 6 people was served at 10:13 am, followed by the second batch of 7 people at 10:24 am. I ordered with less vegetables and garlic. The soup had a slight acidity and was light, so I added more Kaeshi for depth. The noodles were cooked firm by default, a bit powdery and chewy. The pork slices were thick, with one being tender and flavorful, while the other was a bit dry. Overall, the ramen was decent but lacked a strong punch and personality, making it a bit monotonous towards the end. If they introduce tsukemen or soupless ramen in the future, I might consider visiting again.

I visited Shinsei Mejiro-dai for the first time. I ordered the large ramen with extra garlic and extra vegetables. Unlike the previous owner, this ramen is not emulsified and has a lot of liquid oil. Also, there is a noticeable sourness from ginger in the soup. The portion size seems smaller than before. Honestly, it was quite disappointing, so I hope for better in the future.

I arrived at 10:30 on a regular day and got a P.P.! The sign by the shutter said they open at 11:30, which made me anxious. But when I checked Twitter, it did confirm the 11:00 opening time. However, no customers arrived until a few trickled in right at 11:00 when the assistant opened the shutter. I felt relieved. I bought a ticket for a small ramen for 800 yen at the ticket machine and took a seat at the counter. The owner, who wore glasses, reminded me of someone I saw on a TV show. He skillfully lifted the noodles with a lot of energy, making 5 servings in total. I asked for extra pork fat. The default amount of vegetables was quite generous. The pork fat that came with the extra order was deliciously blended with the broth. The soup was rich in flavor yet refreshing, with a strong soy sauce punch and a hint of sweetness. It was easy to drink. The noodles were thick and flat, slightly on the softer side, which I liked. The aroma of the ocean enhanced the taste when soaked in the soup. The two types of pork, loin and belly, were well-seasoned and had a satisfying texture. The vegetables were crunchy. The portion of noodles was generous. Although preferences may vary, I found it to be my favorite among the recent Jiro-style ramen shops that have opened. It reminded me of the original Kameido and Ogikubo shops because of its lighter style. Thank you to the former owner for your hard work. I used to visit the old shop regularly. Thank you very much.

I went on a Sunday afternoon, so I was prepared for some waiting, but there was no line! I was seated immediately upon entering, which was a great start. I ordered the mini ramen with firm noodles, topped with vegetables and extra pork fat. The soup was slightly creamy. I added some extra soy sauce from the table for a stronger flavor. The vegetables were crunchy and paired well with the pork fat. Adding the dressing made it even more delicious! The pork was tender and flavorful. I preferred the noodles to be a bit firmer. Even though it was a mini size, it was quite filling and satisfying.

Survey report. On June 18, 2023, I visited this restaurant for the first time since the change of ownership. I arrived at 2 pm exactly. There was no line outside at that time. I was the first in line inside. - Interior: The interior of the restaurant is still very clean. - Seating: The seating consists of a counter in the shape of a "L", with only one side open after the change of ownership. There are a total of 13 seats. - Operation: The slender new owner, who used to work at Wild Monkeys, and three assistants were working. I purchased a ticket for the "Buta Ko Ramen" for 950 yen from the ticket machine. I requested my noodles to be firm. For toppings, I asked for a little garlic and extra pork fat. After waiting in line, I received my bowl in 15 minutes. - Visual: 4.2 points. The pork fat is sprinkled on top of a small hill of vegetables, with delicious-looking pork piled at the bottom. - Soup: 3.9 points. The soup is a lightly emulsified pork bone broth with a good balance of pork flavor and a firm FZ seasoning. - Noodles: 3.9 points. The noodles are thick with a rectangular cross-section, cooked al dente. Despite ordering firm noodles, they weren't overly hard, possibly due to some inconsistency in cooking. - Pork: 4.1 points. The pork used is pork arm meat with a good amount of fat, tender and flavorful. However, the pork on the edge was too salty due to excessive soy sauce marinade. - Vegetables: 3.8 points. The ratio of bean sprouts to cabbage is 8:2, providing a decent amount of vegetables. The vegetables were cooked well and moist. Overall, the food provided by the new owner differs greatly from the previous establishment, Wild Monkeys, in terms of soup, noodles, and pork. The quality of the pork surpasses that of Wild Monkeys. I look forward to further improvement in the overall quality. Congratulations on the reopening!

The previous owner fell ill and the restaurant temporarily closed. However, with a new owner, Mejiro has made a comeback. I had to go check it out. It was drizzling. I arrived at 10:40 AM and there were already 6 people waiting. I got the second batch of customers. Inside the restaurant, the counter seats were arranged in a "C" shape, with the right side closed off, leaving 13 seats in the front. It seemed like they were rotating customers in groups of 6 or 7. The kitchen layout seemed different. The ramen cooking area, which used to be further back, had changed. I ordered a small ramen with vegetables and extra pork fat. The ramen had a high cabbage ratio and a high-quality aroma. It reminded me of the ramen in Jimbocho. The noodles were slightly firm. Some people asked for them to be even firmer, but I found it unnecessary. The pork slices were large, with an extra one hidden in the back. They were delicious! I'll definitely come back next time with a bigger appetite for more pork. The pork fat wasn't black as I had heard, but it still added richness and flavor. The soup was so good that I couldn't finish it all. Thank you for the meal. The owner seemed very humble and kind. As someone living in Saitama, it's not easy for me to visit often due to the distance, but if they add new menu items like soup-less ramen, I would love to come back.

Delicious!! It's so tasty!! The noodles, pork, vegetables, soup, garlic, balance... It's the best. The noodles have a nice wheat aroma. The pork is tender and flavorful. The vegetables are just right. The soup is so good, I could drink it forever. The finely chopped garlic blends in perfectly with the soup. The addictive taste makes me want to eat it again as soon as I get home. This is dangerously delicious. Maybe it's the water in Hachioji that makes it so good. It has a strong soy sauce flavor and a pork aroma, but overall, the taste is clear (although it's strange to say that about ramen). Thank you for the meal!! *The image shows a "mini ramen" with normal garlic and fewer vegetables.

Arrived at 10:00 on Sunday, June 24, 2023. The parking lot can accommodate about 4 cars as before, but it seems that the second parking lot is gone (see photo). There are also other parking options nearby (see photo). I joined the line outside with 12 people, an hour before the opening. The store opened promptly at 11:00 with a line of about 30 people. There are 13 counter seats, with the side near the restroom not being used for seating but for placing trays and cups. When it's time for the next group to be seated, you purchase your meal ticket. There are seats for 5 people to wait inside, with the rest waiting outside. When a seat becomes available, a staff member will guide you to your seat. I ordered the Buta-ko Ramen, which is about 300g and costs 950 yen, with extra pork fat and garlic. The first batch served 6 people, the next 7, and the final batch had 13 bowls. The noodles were chewy, and the soup was non-emulsified. The pork fat seasoning had bits of shredded meat, complementing the vegetables well. The portion of vegetables was generous, even without extra toppings. The pork slices were thick, with a satisfying texture, and the default order comes with 2 slices, with an additional 4 slices for the pork-included option, providing a substantial meal. The menu and flavors have changed significantly from the previous owner at Mejiro-dai, and the service was pleasant and the food delicious. I left around 11:30 with about 25 people still waiting in line. Thank you for the meal! (´∀`*)
