On October 17th, a curry restaurant serving sweet and spicy curry opened in Akihabara. It is located a 3-minute walk from Akihabara Station on the JR Yamanote Line, Keihin-Tohoku Line, Sobu Line, and Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line. The restaurant operates from 11:00 to 21:00 with continuous service. I visited around 6:00 PM by myself. The exterior gives off a vibe of an izakaya or yakitori restaurant rather than a curry specialty shop. Inside, it also feels similar. There is a ticket machine at the entrance for ordering. The popular menu item is the Tonkatsu Curry (Regular 880 yen, Large Curry 980 yen, Large Rice Curry 1,030 yen). They recommend adding spinach topping or cheese topping to the Tonkatsu Curry. Other options include Ebi Fry Curry, Curry Rice, Oyakodon Curry, Spinach Curry, and Cheese Curry. I ordered the Regular Tonkatsu Curry for 880 yen. There are 12-13 seats at the counter and tables. I was seated at a table near the entrance. The table had Fukujinzuke and pickled radish. I waited for about 10 minutes, and then the Tonkatsu Curry arrived. The Tonkatsu looked delicious, made with barley-fed pork. The curry was sweet and spicy, which I am not a fan of, but this one was the best I've had. The Tonkatsu was delicious, crispy on the outside and juicy inside, and paired well with the curry. The curry was a bit too spicy for me, but overall, it was tasty. I would visit again if I have the chance.

Every time I go to the company training at the headquarters, I've been curious about this shop. I'll stop by on my way home from work♪ It's right next to Yodobashi Camera. I suddenly felt like eating curry cutlet, so I decided to try it out☆ It's a place that just opened in October last year, and it seems to be known for its sweet and spicy curry from Osaka. The style is to buy a meal ticket from a vending machine, but there is a menu board outside, making it easy to choose toppings like spinach, soft-boiled egg, cheese, shrimp fry, etc., and decide whether to have extra rice and curry. It's nice that the shop clearly presents what they are selling, making it easy to choose and have high expectations for the taste. - Tonkatsu Curry (extra rice and curry): 1,080 yen (base price is 930 yen). The kitchen is run by two people, and their efficient movements leave a good impression. They chat casually about work, but their tone of voice is subdued, giving a sense of awareness that they are being watched by customers. They measure the amount of rice with precise movements, cut the tonkatsu vertically with a long knife, then cut it horizontally and place it on the rice, pour the curry, and it's ready! The curry is spicy with black specks covering it, maybe black pepper? I added a bit more Fukujinzuke from the pot on the table, and let's dig in! At first, it's sweet, but then the spiciness gradually builds up. It's quite spicy for me, who usually enjoys Jawa curry spicy enough. If it's spicier, it would be overwhelming. It's probably equivalent to CoCo Ichibanya's spiciness level 1. I might get laughed at for saying this, but I dislike excessive spiciness, and this level of spiciness is quite challenging for someone like me who is satisfied with a normal level of spiciness. The tonkatsu, which boasts of barley-fed pork, is also great! What's great about it? The thickness!! I've always thought that a cutlet in curry doesn't need to be too thick. This one is ideal! It's just right!! You can taste the deliciousness of the fat in the loin cutlet, and it's perfect! The background music is 1950s oldies♪♪ I didn't know any of the songs, but the volume was just right, and it matched the atmosphere of the shop quite well, making the meal quite enjoyable ( ⑉¯ ꇴ ¯⑉ ) Ah... it was delicious! Very satisfying!! Thank you for the meal~♪♪ I love curry cutlet♥ - Data - 【Shop: 855th introduction / Log No. 1046】 【Date: 2023/9/26, Tabelog rating: 3.28】

I visited the restaurant recommended by someone I follow. [Location] The restaurant is located about a 2-minute walk from Akihabara Station Showa Exit. [Visit Date] I visited around 4:40 pm on a holiday. It was somewhat crowded even though it was a somewhat odd time. [Ambiance] There are counter seats and table seats. The interior is somewhat narrow, facing the road, but surprisingly has a calm atmosphere. [Ordering/Payment] The system is to buy a meal ticket at the ticket machine in the restaurant, and payment can be made with Suica. [Dish] I ordered tonkatsu curry. The curry roux has a thick texture, with a sweet taste at first and then a spicy taste. The tonkatsu meat is a bit thin, but the coating is crispy and cut into bite-sized pieces for easy eating. The food is served quickly (customers who ordered simple curry rice had almost no wait for their food to be served). [Service] It was a one-person operation, but the service was efficient and I had no complaints. [Overall] The curry itself is delicious, and considering its proximity to the station, relatively reasonable prices, quick food service, and continuous operation even during off-peak hours, it can be considered a good restaurant.

The location is very close to Akihabara Station, but it may be a bit tricky to find as it's behind Yodobashi Camera from the station. The restaurant has a clean and nice atmosphere, not what you would expect from a curry shop, making it easy to use. They have a nice ticket machine. The main seating is at the counter, but there are also table seats available. I chose the Pork Cutlet Curry (930 yen including tax). It looks similar to a high-class curry. The curry sauce is quite spicy, but it has a good flavor and I think it's delicious curry. The pork cutlet is thin, but considering the price, it's a sufficient amount. They also provide unlimited Fukujinzuke (pickles) and pickled radish on the table. Overall, I think it's a good restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

It's been a while since my last visit, but on this day they were closed so I ordered a beer instead. The spiciness and flavor of the dish lived up to its name, and the lingering spiciness was delicious as always. Adding toppings like cheese and spinach helped mellow out the heat a bit. I enjoyed the meal while refreshing my palate with the pickled radish and Fukujinzuke on the table.

Oh? I spotted a curry shop next to Yodobashi Akiba that looks unfamiliar, but somehow familiar. It's called "Umakara Curry Specialty Shop Shirayotei." Oh, this looks similar to "Shiroginte"! "Shiroginte" is a famous Osaka sweet and spicy curry shop, considered the pinnacle of Osaka curry. While "Shiroginte" is labeled as a "spicy curry specialty" outside the store, here it says "umakara curry specialty shop." Are they related? A branch off? Or maybe...? Let's go in and find out. Order at the ticket machine. At the top of the menu is "Tonkatsu Spinach Curry," a popular combo at "Shiroginte." ★ Tonkatsu Spinach Curry ¥1180 ⚪︎ Raw egg ¥60 Let's add a raw egg Osaka-style. Use a spoon to create a nest with the spinach and place the raw egg on top. The Osaka visual, just like "Shiroginte," is complete! Let's dig in. It starts off sweet and gradually the spiciness kicks in. This contrast is Osaka sweet and spicy curry! The barley-fed pork cutlet is also delicious. However, wait a minute. As I eat more, I can't help but think that this curry is closer to "Joto Curry" than "Shiroginte." The contrast between sweet and spicy is more like "Shiroginte," but the base flavor is closer to "Joto Curry." And when I think about it, "tonkatsu curry" is labeled as "tonkatsu curry" at "Joto Curry," while "Shiroginte" is labeled as "tonkatsu curry." I like both of these curry shops, but which one is it? After checking later, it turns out that this shop was started by a relative of "Joto Curry." It opened in October 2022. Based on their website, it seems to be an independent shop rather than a branch. Just as I was wondering if it's okay to compare it to "Shiroginte," I suddenly had a different thought. After all, "Shiroginte" itself was created by members who left the original "Joto Curry" shop. There is a close relationship between them, so it's hard to say who came first. In any case, it's a good shop to enjoy the contrast of sweet and spicy in Osaka curry. It was quite a refined finish. ● "Curry Cells" Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/CurryCell ● Twitter "Curry Cells": @hm_currycell

It had been a while since my last visit. I arrived around 1:00 PM and there was no wait to enter. I ordered the Katsu Curry with extra curry sauce and a soft-boiled egg, and it arrived within a few minutes. The spiciness of the curry was so deliciously spicy that I believe there is no better way to describe it. I occasionally used the pickled radish and Fukujinzuke on the table to cleanse my palate while enjoying every last bite.

Having a slow lunch while on the move. I'm torn, but I decided to go with the pork cutlet curry. I opted for extra curry sauce only. Lately, it seems to be getting more popular. It's what they call a sweet and spicy curry. The sweetness hides it, but the spiciness gradually kicks in. Getting the extra curry sauce was just right. The curry is delicious, but the pork cutlet is a bit average. I think I would prefer just the curry sauce.

I went to Shiro Yoitei, a curry restaurant located on the premises of Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara. The portion size was quite large and satisfying. The spiciness level was just right. However, it was difficult to find the place, and I was concerned that there were not many customers inside. Thank you for the meal.

There is a curry restaurant called Hakuyotei on the ground floor of Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara. It used to be a Brazilian steakhouse, but now it's a curry restaurant. I tried their recommended dish, tonkatsu curry, for 930 yen. The tonkatsu was normal in thickness and texture, and the curry was just right in terms of thickness and spiciness. They also have menu items priced over 1000 yen. If you're interested, why not give it a try?

At first, it tastes a bit sweet with umami, but then the spiciness hits you. It goes really well with spinach. The cutlet was lightly fried and easy to eat, which was a big plus (*^^*) The owner is also energetic and nice!

This is a curry rice restaurant located near Akihabara Station. It's a place where you can order quickly and eat right away. I didn't have much time, so I decided to have a meal at this restaurant. At the entrance, there is a ticket machine where you can choose your meal. I'm not good at taking my time to choose, so I just selected the recommended dish on the top left of the screen, which was the Tonkatsu Spinach Curry for 1180 yen. I hesitated for a moment but ended up choosing the Tonkatsu Cheese Curry next to the spinach curry. It cost 1080 yen. The meal arrived quickly. It consisted of rice topped with tonkatsu and curry sauce with cheese mixed in. The sauce was sweet and a bit too sweet for my liking. The sweetness hits you right at the beginning. This might be a love it or hate it kind of flavor. Personally, I didn't like the unnatural sweetness. However, the tonkatsu was delicious. I wasn't expecting much from the tonkatsu, but it was crispy and easy to eat. The cheese, on the other hand, was unnecessary in my opinion. Overall, it was okay because the tonkatsu was tasty. Thank you for the meal.

I have been curious for a while and finally visited. It's a street-side shop located north of Yodobashi Akiba. The flag says "umakara" (deliciously spicy). I thought they only had pork cutlet curry on the menu, but they also have regular curry. You can customize it with additional toppings. This time, I chose the pork cutlet curry. I handed the food ticket to the staff behind the counter and took a seat. There are jars of fukujinzuke and pickled radish on the counter. There don't seem to be any other condiments. I expected the pork cutlet to take some time to fry, but surprisingly it was served in 1-2 minutes after handing in the ticket. It seems like they fry the cutlet a bit in advance, which is a good idea. The pork cutlet curry is served in the same way as Nino-ya's pork cutlet curry. I like that the cutlet is sliced vertically, making it easy to eat. The taste is as it looks, starting off sweet and gradually getting spicy. Actually, it became spicy quite quickly. It's a bit spicier than Nino-ya. Of course, it's delicious. The cutlet uses good quality meat, so the price is slightly higher than Nino-ya. Thank you for the meal.

I went around 11:30 am on a regular day. The restaurant was not crowded, probably because it was before the peak hours. The Cheese Curry was sweet at first, but the spiciness increased as I chewed... so that's what they mean by sweet and spicy! The pork cutlet was substantial and really filled me up.

After finishing up my errands in Akihabara in the rain, I went in search of dinner. I ordered the recommended Tonkatsu Curry for 980 yen. I wanted to add spinach topping for health reasons, but 250 yen was a bit much so I gave up on that. Inside the restaurant, there were 4 foreigners and 3 Japanese men. A diverse lineup typical of Akihabara. I hope the Westerners can truly appreciate the curry that Akihabara is proud of. It was convenient that I could use my Suica card to pay at the ticket machine since I usually don't carry cash. The restaurant isn't very spacious, but I like the clean wooden interior. Even if the taste is good, if the place looks dirty, it's a turn-off. When the curry arrived and I took the first bite, I thought it was sweet and lacked a distinctive taste. But then a moderate spiciness came in the second wave, which was a new and delicious experience. The tonkatsu was also tender and went well with the curry. I should have gotten the larger size. I'm satisfied to have found a curry restaurant that I want to revisit.

The curry at this restaurant, as the name suggests, was deliciously spicy. It had a strong flavor with both richness and spiciness. The taste was not too unique, making it easy to keep eating spoonful after spoonful. The spiciness was at a level where even those who are not good with spicy food could still manage. The restaurant has a clean interior, making it a convenient place to eat even for those with limited time, such as busy individuals or for a quick lunch during work breaks.

Yodobashi Camera on the 1st floor in Akihabara. It faces outside so you don't have to go inside Yodobashi. There is a counter and a large table where about 10 people can sit. Purchase a meal ticket from the vending machine, sit down at your designated seat, and your meal will arrive shortly. Many salarymen, few female customers. There are Fukujinzuke and pickled radish on the table. There are also cups so you can pour your own water. The curry is generously poured over the cutlet. This is where personal preferences may differ. Personally, I think you don't need to pour it all on. When you taste the curry, the sweetness is the first thing that spreads. You start to worry if this is really curry, but soon the spiciness follows, and the spiciness lasts for about 10 minutes after eating. This sweet and spicy flavor is described as "umakara" (deliciously spicy). This experience is not new to me, it's just like eating high-quality curry. The cutlet is tender, and because of the curry, it's not very crispy, but it's just right for a combination bite. It's cut vertically and horizontally, so you can scoop up rice, curry, and cutlet all at once with a spoon. This aspect may also vary depending on personal preferences. It's a taste that doesn't get boring, but there are times when you crave this kind of flavor.

I visited the restaurant "Shiyou-tei", a specialty shop for delicious and spicy curry, located in Akihabara. It is conveniently located in front of the station, with a white lantern as a sign. The interior is cozy, with counter seats and table seats available. They serve thick sweet and spicy curry, with the option to add a pork cutlet and raw egg on top. The pork cutlet made from barley-fed pork is very delicious and flavorful. The thickness, sweetness, and unique flavor of the curry may not be for everyone, but I personally enjoy it. Isn't Shiyou-tei a great place for tasty and spicy curry?

I wanted to eat curry, but the restaurant I wanted to go to was far away. I decided to try this place and bought a meal ticket. The most popular curry here is topped with a thin pork cutlet, and the counter is clean. Toothpicks and spoons are conveniently located in a drawer in front of you. The curry is quite voluminous and spicy. It's not just a hint of spiciness, but rather quite spicy. However, it's easy to eat and has a nice flavor.

After work in Akihabara, I headed to a ramen shop but the line was too long, so I decided to try the specialty curry shop, Shiro-Yotei. I purchased the Tonkatsu Curry for 930 yen from the ticket machine on the right side of the entrance. It was served in about 5 minutes. The sauce was sweet and spicy, with a lingering taste. It started off sweet like Hayashi rice with gravy sauce, then gradually the spiciness kicked in. Just as the name suggests, "Umakara..." it was indeed deliciously spicy. The tonkatsu, cut into bite-sized pieces, had a crispy coating and tender meat, with a refreshing taste. On the table, there were pickled radish and Fukujinzuke, which made me happy as a fan of pickled radish. I happily enjoyed the meal.

Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara opened a curry stand on the left side last October. It serves a sweet and then gradually spicy Osaka-style curry. There doesn't seem to be any other similar shops with the same name and concept when searched online. The name is reminiscent of Shirogane-tei, but it seems to have a close relationship with Joto Curry. I visited the shop when I went shopping at Yodobashi Camera and quickly had lunch. It was just before 1 pm, and there were about 7-8 customers in the small shop with a dozen seats. I purchased the most popular "Tonkatsu Curry" regular size for 930 yen at the ticket machine at the entrance and sat at a table. The Tonkatsu Curry arrived in a few minutes, with a bright red curry sauce and well-cut tonkatsu, indeed resembling Joto Curry. The curry was initially sweet and then gradually spicy, as expected. Personally, I wish it had a bit more richness and depth, but considering the price with tonkatsu included, it was within an acceptable range. The tonkatsu, cut into 12 pieces, was easy to eat and tasted decent. It is made from Canadian barley-fed pork, which I assume is different from unbranded domestic pork, but there was no noticeable difference in quality or taste. Overall, it was a satisfying lunch with a good amount of food. Among the somewhat lackluster restaurants on Yodobashi's restaurant floor, this shop is convenient for a quick meal while shopping. Nowadays, with the convenience of extreme delivery services offering free shipping for small items, the use of physical stores is quite limited. However, I might consider using this shop again if I have the chance.
