There is a store inside Tokyo Big Sight that I have been curious about for a while. This time, during the summer Comiket, it was so hot that I wanted to cool down my body, so I decided to visit for the first time. I ordered the most popular omurice with curry and hayashi sauce. It was indeed delicious, but the price exceeded 1500 yen, so my expectations were high and when comparing the price, the rating is 3 stars (average).

Lunch at Tokyo Big Sight, went to the cafeteria at Hibiya Matsumoto-rou. I've eaten at Matsumoto-rou in Hibiya Park a few times, but it's been about 20 years since I visited the store at Big Sight. I ordered the beef stew omelette rice. It looked voluminous and delicious, but even after a few bites, both the chicken ketchup rice and the beef stew tasted a bit bland. Is this how the taste of a long-established restaurant is supposed to be? Even though I'm not a gourmet, I couldn't help but feel this way. Hmm...

During events, many restaurants at Tokyo Big Sight serve curry, probably due to the exhibition hall setting. This restaurant had also decided on curry, but I chose the Pork Ginger instead. The pork ginger was thicker than the usual ginger pork, and it was decent in taste. The restaurant at the event venue is more about finding a seat than the taste, but this one was satisfactory in terms of flavor. During the COVID-19 pandemic, all events were canceled, but I am grateful that this restaurant managed to stay open and keep trying.

On the third day of MF-Tokyo2023, I decided to skip the bento box and went to Matsumoto-rou, a restaurant connected to the venue building. I remember back when they had a 10 yen curry event at Matsumoto-rou in Hibiya Park, I was the first in line with my girlfriend at the time (now my wife). I wanted to be on TV news, so we lined up early (laughs). This time, I was really hungry, so I ordered a very filling dish. I had the Mushroom Omelette with Cream Sauce for 1380 yen (tax included), with a large portion for an extra 160 yen (tax included) and a side salad. I also had an iced coffee for 420 yen (tax included). However, it was just okay. The flavor of the omelette and ketchup rice was a bit bland. Maybe I should have stuck with the classic curry or gone for the hamburger instead (laughs).

One day for lunch, I ordered the popular Omelette Rice with Beef Curry Sauce (1,280 yen) from Hibiya Matsumotoro Tokyo Big Sight branch. This menu also offers Hayashi Sauce and Cream Sauce at the same price as the Beef Curry. The omelette was fluffy with flavorful chicken rice inside, which paired well with the delicious beef curry. Truly a great choice from Hibiya Matsumotoro, established in 1903. The plate design was also stylish. Definitely recommend for lunch when there is an event at Big Sight.

Established in the 36th year of the Meiji era, Hibiya Matsumotoro at Big Sight is recommended for lunch. The must-try dish is the omurice, which comes with a choice of three sauces including hayashi sauce. The fluffy omelette and flavorful chicken rice inside are delicious. I also tried the large shrimp fry (lunch set) with bread. The shrimp was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was delicious!

There are many restaurants above the exhibition hall in the East building of Tokyo Big Sight, but Matsumoto-rou is located in the front restaurant area. Today, during the exhibition, there was a long line for lunch, so when I revisited after 2 PM, I was able to enter smoothly. I bought a pork cutlet curry with a meal ticket. The curry was very familiar and delicious. The cutlet was also satisfying with a good portion size.

I went to a big site for work and had lunch at this restaurant. I ordered the slightly expensive beef stew omelette rice since it was not my own money. It was ready in just over 10 minutes and had big chunks of meat. The meat was tender and the stew had a good tangy flavor. The meat alone was filling enough. Thank you for the delicious meal!

However, this restaurant was open for business. It had a Western-style menu with dishes ranging from 1000 to 3000 yen. I chose the affordable Napoli for 1180 yen. After placing my order and paying, I was given a ticket and waited at my table. Shortly after, a staff member brought me the Napoli. I added some Parmesan cheese and Tabasco from the condiment corner, which made the flavor quite strong. Initially, it felt a bit too intense, possibly due to the saltiness of the cheese and the acidity and spiciness of the Tabasco, giving the impression of excessive ketchup use. However, after drinking some water to cleanse my palate, I was able to enjoy it without feeling overwhelmed by the richness. The spaghetti was cooked al dente, providing a nice texture.

I visited the 50th Tokyo Motorcycle Show held at the West Hall of Tokyo Big Sight and decided to have lunch there. I ordered the Hamburg Steak with Shallot Sauce for 1,380 yen. It seems like the ingredients were prepared in advance and the cooking process was quick. The hamburger steak felt a bit dry.

I enjoyed it normally. Evaluations and reviews are subjective. The photo was taken with an iPhone and is unedited. I personally think that seeing the photo gives a good idea of how it tasted. A lunch for 1080 yen includes chicken sauté with tomato sauce, rice or bread, and salad.

Lunch on the third day of the Tokyo Big Sight event was at Hibiya Matsumotoro, located on the first floor of the restaurant area. The restaurant had a variety of menu options, and I decided to order the Mushroom Cream Omelette Rice priced at 1,280 yen. The omelette was fluffy and the white sauce with mushrooms was flavorful. The dish also came with a side salad and pickles. Overall, the quality of the food was good, and the staff were efficient. This restaurant is a decent option within the Big Sight event venue.

After checking the layout of the booth, I decided to have lunch. Since the East Hall of Tokyo Big Sight was closed, I went to the restaurant floor in the West Hall where only two restaurants were open. I chose to eat at "Hibiya Matsumotoro Tokyo Big Sight" as it sounded like a reputable place. The restaurant is a branch of a famous venue located in Hibiya Park known for hosting weddings. I ordered the Omelet Rice with Mushroom Cream for 1,260 yen. The dish looked appetizing with fluffy omelet and mushroom cream white sauce. However, the taste was average and felt like pre-made food. Despite the high prices, the meal was just okay, and I don't think I will visit this restaurant again when I come to Tokyo Big Sight.

Matsumotoro in Big Sight is cafeteria style. From a distance, it looks like a royal place. Matsumotoro is famous for its 10 yen curry, but I was drawn to the Five Grain Rice and ordered the Herbal Curry (1050 yen). It comes with a small salad. The slightly spicy herbal curry with diet-friendly five grain rice made me quite happy. Considering the quality, the price didn't feel too high, so it's not bad, right?

A staff member with a lovely smile handed me a tray after disinfecting my hands with alcohol. I ordered Omu-rice with Hayashi sauce at the counter. I received a vertical order number and was asked to pick up a mini salad a couple of steps ahead. I declined a drink and proceeded to the cashier. The cashier was kind and asked me to take some cold water before paying. I found a seat in the somewhat crowded restaurant, where mostly 4-person tables were available. It was challenging to find a seat for one person, and even the 2-person tables were occupied. After some wandering around, I finally found a 4-person table with no divider. A staff member brought my Omu-rice and kindly directed me to any available seat. The Omu-rice was not too large, and the Hayashi sauce was generously poured over it. The inside of the Omu-rice was well-cooked ketchup rice, but the ingredients were lacking. The egg was soft and sweet, which was delicious. The Hayashi sauce was rich and thick, maybe a bit too much. The balance seemed off with too much gooey sauce. The salad was refreshing, but the flavors were lacking. However, the fact that they made the egg dish fresh upon order was nice. Despite the disappointing taste, the quick service of taking orders and serving food immediately was suitable for busy event staff and visitors. The cafeteria-style setup was efficient, and the staff remained calm and friendly even with many first-time customers. There was soup available, and dessert was limited to one option. However, I had already experienced some failures and couldn't find any restaurants that I could say "this is good." The last time I visited a certain restaurant, it was mediocre, so this time I visited with high hopes. The restaurant is like a cafeteria, where you order along the flow, receive your food, or have it brought to your table. - Herbal Curry with Five-Grain Rice for 1,050 yen: It looks nice and has a good value. The herbal taste is just right, and the overall taste is okay. - Omelette Rice with Hayashi Sauce: I forgot the exact price, but it was around 1,000 yen. The omelette rice covered in soft eggs and the balance with the Hayashi sauce is appealing. The taste gives off a Western-style restaurant vibe.
