Located about a 3-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station in Kyoto, "Nikurou Yama" is a hidden gem of a Japanese beef cuisine restaurant. Tucked away in a narrow alley next to "Sakadokoro Terayama," the restaurant has no sign, adding to its secretive charm. The owner and chef, Takashi Yamagishi, is the younger brother of the owner of the popular "Yamachan" yakiniku restaurant in Kyoto. After branching out from "Yamachan," Takashi renovated a century-old traditional house to open "Nikurou Yama" last summer. Tonight, I invited friends from Tokyo to visit the restaurant and enjoy Takashi's beef dishes. Here are some of the Japanese beef dishes we tried: - Miyazaki Wagyu Sirloin Meat Soba - Sauteed Abalone and Wagyu Thigh Meat with White Asparagus (from Kagoshima) - Specialty: Wagyu Stuffed in a Rice Cake (from Kagoshima) - Miyazaki Wagyu Sirloin with Sansho Pepper - Black Wagyu Tongue - Fillet Mimi with Grated Daikon and Ponzu Sauce (from Yamagata) - Yakiniku (Harami, Kalbi) - Chateaubriand Cutlet Sandwich (from Kagoshima) - Homemade Tongue Curry - Special Cold Noodles For drinks, we enjoyed: - Draft Beer - Champagne: Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut - Makgeolli: Boksoon Dogga (from Fook Jun Du Family) Song Makgeolli (from Korea) - Sake: Hououbita Junmai Ginjo (from Kobayashi Sake Brewery in Oyama, Tochigi) - Hakushu Highball The cozy restaurant has an L-shaped counter with 6 seats and one table, creating a serene atmosphere. Takashi and his staff carefully grill selected Japanese beef cuts on the charcoal grill at the counter, serving them one by one. It was a delightful evening filled with enjoyable conversations with Takashi and delicious food. Thank you for the wonderful meal. We will definitely visit again.

I was able to find Meat Cuisine Yama thanks to the recommendation. The Yukke was delicious and melted in my mouth. The Tail Gyoza that I often saw in posts was also tasty. Just the yakiniku alone offered a variety of cuts, and I was very satisfied. When the katsu sandwich arrived, I was ecstatic because it was so delicious. The curry and cold noodles at the end were also tasty, and I could adjust the portion size. It was a very satisfying and fulfilling meal.

I had been wanting to visit the newly opened meat restaurant Yama-something for a while, and finally made a reservation three months ago. I was relieved to have secured a reservation and visited with high expectations. Using a map on the internet, I tried to find the entrance to the restaurant, but after circling the area, I found a narrow alley leading to the location. From the outside, I could see congratulatory flowers with the name of the restaurant. It was their one-year anniversary month, so the menu included items like salad, sirloin tartare, meat noodles, potage soup, meat dumplings, meat and shark fin soup, various cuts of grilled meat, ear meat grilled meat, katsu sandwich, curry, cold noodles, and dessert. The sirloin tartare was particularly delicious, with the egg wrapping around the meat's umami and fat. The meat noodles were light and refreshing, allowing the meat to shine. The ear meat, a rare cut, had a sophisticated umami within its meaty texture. The katsu sandwich was outstanding, with perfect bread and meat flavors. These four dishes left a lasting impression, but everything else was also satisfying. It was a blissful time of continuously enjoying delicious food. Reservations are generally hard to come by, so it seems like the only option is to keep trying to see if there are any available slots.

I visited the meat restaurant Yama-san in Karasuma, Kyoto for the first time! I had been wanting to go there for a long time, but they were not accepting new customers. However, about 3-4 months ago, I checked their website and saw that they were accepting new reservations, so I immediately made a reservation! But when I asked the owner when I arrived, he said they were no longer accepting new customers for reservations. Phew, I can make a reservation next time! I'm so happy!!! The restaurant is located down south from Hankyu Karasuma Station, and if you walk there, you'll find it at the end of a narrow street. Honestly, you wouldn't be able to find the location on your first visit! My friend also really wanted to go, so we went together. The menu only offers one course meal, and I don't know the price or details! So, I checked the website and reviews in advance to get an idea of what to expect! I made a reservation through Instagram, so they asked me in advance about any food preferences I had. The course included winter melon soup, raw beef yukhoe, meat noodles, tail dumplings, fucoidan steak with wagyu broth sauce, kimchi, three types of beef tongue to compare, salad, katsu sandwich, recommended meat cuts platter, curry for the finish, cold noodles for the finish, and dessert. The course was very generous in portion size! Even though we went on an empty stomach, we were already stuffed! For the finish, you can choose between curry and cold noodles. If you want both, you can order both! You can also choose the size - large, medium, or small. Of course, I chose both sizes! But in the end, I still wanted more and ordered another serving of curry...haha. It was so delicious. Everything was exquisite. I quickly understood why it's so difficult to make a reservation there! The owner was very friendly and we had a great conversation, making the dining experience even more enjoyable!! It seems like the menu changes with the seasons, so I plan to go back in winter! Thank you for the delicious meal! ♫

This restaurant is basically where the head chef grills each piece of meat individually and serves it at the perfect timing. It seems to have many regular customers, so it can be difficult to make a reservation, but I was able to book through Pocket Concierge and visited. The exterior has only a navy blue noren curtain, giving it a hidden gem atmosphere. The interior maintains a traditional townhouse feel but is very clean and inviting. I ordered a drink and was first served a piece of raw meat yukhoe with marbled fat. The meat melts in your mouth and is truly amazing. Everything was wonderful, but the highlights were the katsu sandwich and oxtail dumplings. The katsu sandwich practically melts in your mouth without needing much chewing. The oxtail dumplings burst with the delicious flavor of the oxtail meat. The tongue sampler and recommended trio were delicious, of course. The curry at the end had a deep flavor that made me want seconds. The cold noodles had a fantastic citrus aroma and flavor. I would love to visit again if given the chance.

Winter melon cold soup, yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), grilled mino (beef stomach lining) and ikura (salmon roe) with grated daikon and ponzu sauce, tail dumplings, shark fin steak and sirloin with sauce, homemade kimchi, three kinds of beef tongue, salad, pork cutlet sandwich, grilled dishes, curry, cold noodles, and peach ice cream. A recommended meat cuisine restaurant that is not cheap but offers good value for money.

In Kyoto, there is a hidden gem of a restaurant located in Gokomachi Shijo, where you can find a unique eel dish. It may be a bit difficult to find, but once you step inside, you'll be greeted by the sound of The Beatles playing and a cozy atmosphere with only 6 seats at the counter. The chef is the younger brother of the chef at Tomikoji Yamagishi and the father of the chef at Yakiniku Yamachan. Every dish of meat was truly delicious! Reservations can be hard to come by, but this restaurant comes highly recommended. Some recommended dishes include: mountain yam somen and yukhoe, simmered fillet meat with tendon, tail dumplings, mashed potatoes with caviar and three types of cheese in a cream sauce, kimchi, salted tongue (different cuts), beef intestines, tongue base, tongue tip, fillet ear with grated daikon and ponzu sauce, tonkatsu sandwich, curry, cold noodles, and peach ice cream.

A hidden gem of a meat cuisine establishment in a gourmet alley known only to a few. No signboard and contact details are not disclosed. Only course meals are available. Menu includes meat somen, simmered tendons, tail dumplings, ash mash caviar, kimchi, tongue, tenderloin, tongue stew, salad, grilled dishes, katsu sandwich, curry for the finish, cold noodles, and dessert beef monaka. With great value and high-quality meat, it has become my favorite meat restaurant in Kyoto.

I had been curious about this place for a while and finally had the chance to go. It has a hidden, cozy atmosphere which I liked. They serve courses in order, and you can grill the meat by yourself. Every dish was delicious, and the meat was tender and tasty. They serve a lot, so I left feeling full! The chef was also very friendly and it was a fun experience. I definitely want to go back again. I also took a sandwich to go and when I ate it at home, it was so tender that I want to go back just to buy more. Thank you so much!

In June, I visited the popular meat restaurant in Kyoto with a budget of 20,000 yen for a private counter reservation. The cozy and favorite restaurant I visited was Yakiniku Yamachan, run by Chef Ryuuji Yamagishi. The restaurant does not disclose contact information and new reservations are difficult to make, usually requiring a regular customer to bring you. This year's reservations were already quite full. I have been a regular at both Tomikojiyama and Yakiniku Yamachan, and this was my third visit to Nikuramen. They specialize in Tajima beef, with delicious dishes ranging from Yukke to Sirloin meat somen and Gyoza made from 100% beef (with a firm meaty texture). In the second half, Chef Ryuuji grills the meat over charcoal. This restaurant was started by someone who has visited various yakiniku restaurants nationwide, so their dedication to meat and grilling is impressive. The Bifukatsu sandwich and curry cold noodles for dessert were also delicious and satisfying. You can even choose the size of the curry and noodles. One of the reasons I keep coming back is because the chef is so entertaining. ✌️

I went there again today with excitement! The meat skewers were all delicious, especially the tail dumplings that have recently been added to the menu. I heard that the tail dumplings will be available for purchase, so I'm happy that I can enjoy them at home too. I'm looking forward to seeing what other delicious meats they will have next month!

Hidden in a back alley in Kyoto's Ayakoji-Goyomachi, there is a secret hideaway restaurant called "Nikuyama," "Sakaba Terayama," and "O-sake to Shokuji Uli." It is located in the same alley as the former Yama-chan yakiniku restaurant. The exterior is just a navy blue noren curtain with no store name or sign, creating a mysterious hideaway. The owner, who used to run Yama-chan, has quietly opened this new restaurant. It was operating privately for a while, but gradually became more open to the public, and before you knew it, it became a restaurant that is difficult to book. The dishes include kimchi, tender sirloin with mushrooms in a dashi broth, sirloin meat somen, beef-shaped manju with yukke, red sea cucumber with lightly cooked mino, tataki of lean meat, shirako mapo tofu, tongue platter, salad, salt-grilled offal assortment, ikura hot dog, chateaubriand cutlet sandwich, curry reminiscent of Yama-chan, cold noodles similar to Yama-chan, and strawberry ice cream made by the staff. The proximity to the previous Yama-chan makes the dining experience enjoyable. Visit with close friends and enjoy the evolving menu.

This restaurant in Kyoto, which opened as a hidden gem at the end of last year, is gaining popularity. For first-time visitors, it may be difficult to find as it has no sign or lights on the outside. The owner, who also runs a yakiniku restaurant, has opened this new establishment with a focus on Tamura beef, offering a variety of dishes. With a keen eye for quality ingredients, the owner serves several meat dishes, followed by yakiniku, hand-rolled sushi, katsu sandwich, curry, ramen, and sherbet. This place is definitely worth a visit!

"Yama Meat Cuisine," quietly opened in 2022, is a restaurant owned by Yama Kishi, the younger brother of Yama Kishi from Yama-chan. The original "Yakiniku Yama-chan" was entrusted to his son, and he started a new meat cuisine restaurant. How many restaurants will be added to the Yama Kishi's affiliated stores? Laughing Location: About a 5-minute walk from Shijo Kawaramachi Station. It is located in a back alley where Urisake and Meals Terayama, a sake place, are located in Kyoto Ayakoji Gokomachi. It's a place you wouldn't enter if you didn't know about it. Interior: 6 counter seats, 1 table for 4 people. It's a small space. On this day, only the counter seats and tables were used. Menu: One type of omakase meat course only. The contents received (in no particular order) include: - Meat Sucking - Beef Somen - Beef Yukke in Monaka - Uni Mapo Tofu - Yakiniku (Harami, Tsurami, etc.) - Yakiniku (Tongue Tip, Tongue Middle, Tongue Bottom) - Salad - Kimchi - Hand-delivered Sea Urchin Dog - Filet Sandwich There are 3 types of finishes. You can choose from mini, regular, and large sizes. I wanted to eat everything, so I chose all three in mini size: - Beef Shigure Tea Pickles - Cold Noodles - Homemade Curry Rice Dessert: - Strawberry Sherbet Drinks: - Sake: Sawaya Matsumoto, Shichihonyari, LEAF special bottle, Kamikura, etc. - White wine - Red wine, a little bit of everything Price: With various drinks, it costs about 15,000 to 20,000 yen per person. Enjoy delicious meat in various ways. The unique dishes like Mapo Tofu and Curry were also delicious. If I had to mention something, incorporating spicy dishes like Mapo Tofu and Kimchi required some effort to pair with alcohol. It seems that reservations are already difficult, but I hope to visit again. Thank you for the meal~ (*^^*)

Last year, a hidden gem opened secretly in the back alley! Meat dishes are the best⭐️ But since it opened without a name or sign, it couldn't even be listed on Tabelog. Finally, the restaurant has a name now, but still no location information or sign. Finally, it was listed on Tabelog, so I posted right away❗️(〃'∇'〃)ゝ This time it was dishes in December, with meat as the main course and various side dishes as well. As you can see in the photos, the taste and dishes are enjoyable. They use good quality meat, and the Chateaubriand sandwich is exquisite. It's a place that will make you want to visit every month. It gets fully booked quickly, so check on Instagram every month. #MeatDishesYama #HardToReserve #Delicious #SatisfiedStomach #GreatCostPerformance Looking forward to next month〜♪

As soon as the address and contact information, which were previously hidden, were made public, it became difficult to make a reservation at this restaurant. On this day, they served Hana Sansho (flower pepper), which was delicious. The yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) was great, and the side dishes were also tasty. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from, such as Uni Dock, Chateaubriand sandwich, and more. The cold noodles and curry were also very satisfying.
