Popular solo dining spot in Kanda, "Kaiten Sushi Edokko." Part of the Kanda Edokko Sushi chain with 6 locations in Kanda. Conveniently located just a few seconds' walk from Kanda Station North Exit. The interior is not very spacious, and with the year-end rush, there was always a line waiting inside. Despite being a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, the sushi does not rotate; instead, you order using a touch panel. You pay based on the color of the plates. The "Tipsy Set (draft beer)" for 748 yen is popular, with options like shochu highball or lemon sour for 539 yen. Each drink comes with a daily assortment of three appetizers. On this day, the assortment included red snapper, sea bream, and yellowtail, all thickly sliced and fresh. Ordering a regular beer would cost 539 yen for one glass, so the set is a great deal for those who enjoy alcohol. The "Whole Live Abalone" for 880 yen is a highlight here, with a variety of fresh seafood options on the menu. The abalone is prepared after ordering and served whole, with a delightful chewy texture and a rich flavor. The boiled liver in ponzu sauce is also fresh and delicious. Pairing it with the "Ichinokura Junmai Super Dry" for 495 yen is a great choice. The "Live Surf Clam" for 495 yen is another must-try, served freshly shucked with two pieces on a sushi rice boat. It is sweet and tasty. The "Surf Clam Himo" for 396 yen is a small dish of various clam necks with a chewy texture, perfect as a side dish. The "Fresh Oyster" for 275 yen is small but flavorful, served on a sushi rice boat. The "Domestic Fresh Tuna Lean" for 275 yen is a great value, with large, moist slices of tasty domestic tuna. Although the sushi rice seems machine-made, the quality of the tuna makes up for it. The "Domestic Fresh Tuna Chutoro" for 495 yen is a limited quantity item added a little later after opening. It is piled high with chutoro on top of the sushi rice boat. As the manager mentioned, it is real chutoro, not mixed with other parts, and melts in your mouth. The restaurant focuses on serving fresh, quality ingredients at a reasonable price rather than elaborate sushi creations. The highly praised live shellfish dishes are delicious, and the appetizer set is a great deal. There are many solo diners, including young women. Ordering the "Lunch 5-Piece Nigiri" with seaweed soup for 495 yen and adding your favorite items seems to be a cost-effective way to enjoy the meal.
