I visited the restaurant without an appointment around 1:30 PM on Saturday. The charm of the place was that the last order was set for 2 PM, which was a bit late. When I entered the restaurant, the smell of vinegar was pleasant. I was feeling a bit tired of soba lately, so I decided to try sushi next. The smell of vinegar made me feel more inclined towards sushi. The restaurant was about 80% full, with mostly customers in their 20s, typical for Daikanyama. I was asked for my drink order as soon as I sat down. Since I was driving, I asked for tea. They served me a small cold barley tea in a sushi cup, and even brought a big bottle so I could have refills, which was a relief in the heat. The lunch menu was more extensive than I expected, with various fish options like sashimi don, curry, etc. I was a bit torn but decided to go with sushi today. I ordered the "Tokii" set, which seemed to have a good balance. It was served about 15 minutes later. The sushi rice was small and the fish slices were a bit thick (but just right), providing a satisfying bite. The lineup included mackerel, tuna (lean, medium fatty), salmon roe, fresh whitebait, sea urchin, bonito, botan shrimp, and sea urchin. All the ingredients were top-notch, especially the rich and delicious lean tuna surprised me as I never really craved tuna before. The medium fatty tuna was also flavorful without being too fatty. The red miso soup that accompanied the sushi was simple with a hint of green onion and seaweed. It was just right. The meal ended with a dessert, which was water yokan on this occasion. It was a nice and summery way to finish the meal. In terms of portion, it might be a bit on the smaller side for women, but it was about 60-70% full for me. Overall, it was a satisfying lunch in Daikanyama, where there are many lovely cafes to explore. I had never thought about looking for a sushi restaurant in Daikanyama before, as I usually enjoy Mexican, Spanish, or Italian cuisine there. However, I had a great lunch experience at this sushi restaurant!
