I visited the Kyushu Jangarara Ramen Akasaka store after having a bad experience at a shop across the street. When I looked at the menu, I saw something called "Karabon" which seemed very spicy. When it was served, it turned out to be quite spicy and I started sweating while eating it. The thin noodles in the spicy tonkotsu broth brought back nostalgic memories. Conquering this area is going to be a dangerous mission from now on...

I visited at 12:15 on a weekday. There were 5 people waiting, but the turnover was fast so I was able to get inside in about 10 minutes. I ordered the classic Kyushu-style ramen with seasoned boiled egg, extra firm. It's tonkotsu-based but surprisingly light. Hmm, I debated getting an extra serving of noodles but decided to hold off.

It is located in Azabu-juban, between Akasaka Station and Tameike-Sanno Station. Tom Cruise also likes it, right? It's a place he visited a long time ago. The prices seem to have gone up since then, but the reliable tonkotsu ramen is still delicious. They also have a variety of condiments on the table, which is nice. This time, I ordered the one with Kumamoto Ma-Yu.

Today, I visited the "Kyushu Jangara Ramen Akasaka" in Akasaka. It had been a while since my last visit. I ordered a ramen that I had never tried before. I got the Jangara Miso Ramen with a soft-boiled egg topping for 960 yen. I asked for the thin noodles to be cooked firm, and it was served in about 2-3 minutes. First, I tried the soup. The base of pork bone broth combined with a hint of miso was a perfect match. They had free extra spicy mustard greens on the counter, so I added a lot of it. The restaurant was filled with foreign customers, who seem to really enjoy Japanese ramen. I had the miso ramen this time, but I think next time I will go for the classic tonkotsu ramen.

A proper rich tonkotsu ramen. It really gives off that tonkotsu vibe. The soup has a deep flavor that you never get tired of, even after getting extra noodles. Keanu Reeves apparently ate here too. I love it. They also have pickled mustard greens and red ginger on the table for you to add as much as you want. The pickled mustard greens are delicious too.

After graduating from a university in Kyushu and becoming a working adult in Tokyo, I have been eating at this representative pork bone ramen shop since my 20s. I sometimes stop by the Akasaka branch near my company to eat. The taste is consistently delicious and comforting, it never changes.

On the third day of the New Year, I didn't step out of the house at all. I thought it was time to go out, so I headed to the streets of Akasaka. I had decided to eat ramen. When I arrived at the original Stamina-packed Ramen Suzu Oni Akasaka branch, there was a long line extending up the stairs. I thought, "Uh oh," and wondered what to do since Akasaka was crowded. So, I turned back and decided to try Jangara, a small shop that tends to get crowded but doesn't have long lines outside. The shop was covered in notices, making it impossible to see inside from outside. I went on a weekday around 1 pm and got in without any trouble. Just like before, you pay at the counter and then take a seat. The lady taking orders was a bit slow, haha. I really think they should have a ticket machine. I ordered the Karabon Barikata with extra mushrooms. The set came with a bowl and a boiled egg. I didn't want rice because I planned to get an extra serving of noodles later. And let me tell you, the half serving of extra noodles was more than enough! The portion was already quite big, so the extra noodles were substantial. It's a lot of food! The Karabon was quite spicy. I added sesame seeds and black pepper from the table condiments. The noodles were thin and good. I was a bit overwhelmed by the extra noodles, but I adjusted the flavor with the extra seasoning and managed to finish it. The mushroom topping was generous as well. I struggled but managed to finish everything. Haha. Next time, I'll go for a half serving of extra noodles. Maybe I'll try the rice set too. I ended up eating too much! Haha. Thank you for the meal!

I always go to Kobo-chan, but I wanted to eat miso ramen so I ordered the miso flavor. The toppings are good, but the thin noodles don't go well with this soup. Personally, I prefer thick or medium curly noodles with miso. In the end, Kobo-chan is still my favorite.

Kyushu Jangara Ramen. Established in 1984, it has been in Harajuku for a long time, right? There is also one in Akasaka, and I decided to visit after a long time. It was just before 1 pm on a weekday, and it was half full. I was surprised that all the menu items were expensive, but I found the cheapest one, Kyushu Jangara Ramen (790 yen), and ordered it. It was a simple dish with two slices of pork belly. The soup was refreshing and not bad. The noodles had a slightly chewy texture, which was a bit different from the recent image of tonkotsu ramen with straight and firm noodles. I added sesame, spicy pickled vegetables, and garlic halfway through, but it didn't really make it taste much better. Well, it has been going on like this for a while, so it will probably continue in the future. I was impressed that they had vegan ramen on the menu. Thank you for the meal.

I came here after a long time. Born in Tokyo, this tonkotsu ramen is different from Kyushu style, with a soup that is not smelly and smooth noodles. The best choice here is the "bonsyan" with everything in it. Soup: Rich and delicious. Noodles: Thin noodles with more kansui than Hakata style. Delicious. Marriage of soup and noodles: Mixing them together is great because the noodles are hot. Thick chashu: It's like braised pork, a bit of a disappointing slight smell. Thin chashu: It's okay, not bad, but it works as a combination. Flavored egg: Delicious. It goes well with alcohol, I think. Maybe my taste has become healthier due to remote living? The taste of this restaurant has not changed. However, personally, I feel like saying "I'm done." It's a change in lifestyle, but I am truly grateful to Jangara since the Showa era. Thank you for the meal♪

I think it's not the first time to go to Kyushu Jangara Ramen. They offer a dish called "Zenbuiri" which includes pork slices, seasoned egg, and spicy cod roe. I also ordered an extra serving of noodles and a highball, and I was very satisfied. The pickled vegetables on the table were also spicy and a good addition for changing the taste.

I had heard the name before, but it was my first time visiting Jangara Ramen. I went in on a Saturday afternoon around 1 pm and there was no wait. You pay upfront at the entrance. I ordered the Jangara Ramen with extra firm noodles. They also have the richer Bonshan and the medium Kumamoto-style Kobonshan. The soup was a mild tonkotsu flavor. The noodles were perfectly firm and had a great texture. The Jangara Ramen with everything included pork belly, mentaiko, and flavored egg. It also came with regular chashu, so it was very filling. Adding the spicy pickled mustard greens and red pickled ginger from the table made it even better! I also bought some pickled mustard greens as a souvenir. Thank you for the meal!

In the end, I find myself always craving for tonkotsu ramen. It may be different from the mainstream in Hakata, but I am definitely on this side. It packs a punch and is loaded with ingredients. You can enjoy each bite separately or let the ingredients mix together in your mouth. It's fun to eat! Leave some mentaiko, add rice, and finish it off. It's the best! And then, you're pretty much set for a day of entertainment until you need to visit the restroom.

After work solo dinner at Jangara Akasaka store near Akasaka Station. I used to go to the Harajuku store when I was young, but this was my first time at the Akasaka store. I arrived after the peak time on a weekday night, around 8:00 pm, and was able to enter without waiting in line. I ordered the limited menu item "Night Kobonshan" with extra noodles. The slightly sweet and creamy tonkotsu soup with black garlic oil paired well with the Hakata-style straight thin noodles. The thick slices of chashu and the marinated flavored egg added a satisfying touch. It was a filling dish that left me satisfied. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely come back again.

I have always avoided Jangarara Ramen because I thought it wouldn't be authentic tonkotsu ramen. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the rich flavor of the soup, the toppings like takana and red pickled ginger, and the overall authenticity of the dish. Jangarara Ramen has been around for 40 years and offers a variety of styles, including Tokyo-style, Hakata-style, and Kumamoto-style ramen. I tried the Hakata-style ramen, which had a creamy tonkotsu broth that was quite delicious. The restaurant has a lively and festive atmosphere, and it's a great spot for a late-night bowl of ramen after drinking. The noodles were not the traditional firm and straight type, but they still paired well with the flavorful broth. Overall, Jangarara Ramen is a good option for satisfying your tonkotsu ramen cravings in Tokyo.

Next time, Mugi-chan finally had the opportunity to eat at Jangarara Ramen after drinking near the company. In the past, when the store was located at the foot of Hie Shrine, I used to visit it frequently from my previous office. At that time, my order eventually settled on Mugi-chan. Mugi-chan is only available at a limited number of stores. I checked and found out that there are only two stores, the Akihabara main store and the Akasaka store. I didn't go for the all-in option or extra noodles. I just wanted to confirm the taste of Mugi-chan. It has a gentle flavor. But it's still a tonkotsu ramen. It also has miso in it. It was delicious and somehow nostalgic. Thank you for the meal!

Recently, my go-to order at the restaurant has been a bowl with toppings of seasoned soft-boiled egg and spicy cod roe. After taking a sip of the soup, I generously sprinkle white sesame seeds on top. Even though I have been eating this dish multiple times, it still tastes delicious as ever. The spiciness is just right, but it seems like I haven't had something this spicy in a while. I'm not sure if it was due to the spiciness or my overall health, but I suffered from stomach pains the next day. I guess I need to take a break from spicy food for a while...

Here, I only have the all-inclusive bonshan. Sometimes, I wonder if it was bonshan or jangara? I might just be remembering wrong, in other words, mistakenly ordering a different ramen and getting mad at myself. The soup: A rich soup with melted pork bones. I can't handle greasy food well, so it upsets my stomach. But I love it! Noodles: The noodles are not too firm, just normal. Marriage of noodles and soup: The noodles and soup blend well together, but the soup is a little lukewarm. I wish the temperature of the soup part away from the noodles was higher. Char siu 1: Is it pork belly? Thickly sliced and simmered, with fatty parts melting and lean parts tender. Maybe simmered with star anise? Char siu 2: Is this also pork belly? Thinly sliced, overall tender and juicy. Flavored egg: One half-cut piece. Simply delicious. Mentaiko: It's just not the same without it! Wood ear mushrooms: It's just not the same without it! So, I had the classic Hakata ramen, born in Tokyo. I rate it 3.1, but it's a stable choice that I crave a few times a year. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

【50th bowl in 2022】After a long time, I felt like eating "Kyushu Jangarara Ramen" again, so I revisited the Akasaka branch after about 4 years. Previous memo: http://interactive-salesmen.blog.jp/archives/75295643.html
Upon entering the restaurant, you first order your food at the counter and then take a seat. This time, I ordered the "Kobonshan + Negi". 780 yen + 100 yen = 880 yen. They accept electronic money and credit cards. The food was served in about 3 minutes. *Paper aprons are provided.
The surface of the soup is covered with "ma-yu". The base is a thick tonkotsu broth, but it is easy to drink without any strong pork bone smell. "Kyushu Jangarara Ramen" has been a favorite of mine for a long time and is well-received by many. The "ma-yu" adds an oily richness, and the garlic flavor enhances the richness of the taste, making the noodles slide down smoothly. The thin noodles are smooth and cling well to the soup. If you don't order extra noodles, the portion may not be enough. Extra noodles cost 150 yen, and half extra noodles cost 100 yen, making it just the right amount, but it ended up being over 1,000 yen. For me, ordering extra noodles is a must when eating tonkotsu ramen, so going over 1,000 yen is not very cost-effective. The toppings include negi (green onions), kikurage mushrooms, nori (seaweed), and thinly sliced chashu (pork). A cup of extra negi is served on the side. It feels a bit lacking without any additional toppings, but adding extra noodles is necessary to reach over 1,000 yen. I added some spicy mustard greens from the table halfway through. The mustard greens at this restaurant are not too spicy, making them easy to eat. I spent about 15 minutes from entering to leaving the restaurant. The "Kyushu Jangarara Ramen" I had after a long time was still delicious as ever.

I visited Jangara for the first time in a long time since it was very popular in the past. Upon entering, I placed my order at the entrance register through verbal communication and prepayment. I ordered the Bonshan ramen with flavored egg (¥900). I forgot to specify the firmness of the noodles. Bonshan here refers to a rich pork bone ramen. The soup is thick, but compared to other rich pork bone ramen from different shops, the pork bone flavor is a bit lacking. When I added garlic and spicy pickled vegetables halfway through, the soup seemed to lose its impact. Hmm, I remember it being more delicious in the past so I was a bit disappointed. Perhaps my memories were idealized, or maybe I have discovered other delicious pork bone ramen elsewhere.
