Shinagawa Grand Central Tower, directly connected to Shinagawa Station Konan Exit, is a large Chinese restaurant located in a big box. The main store is in Kitashinagawa, and there is also a branch in Tennozu Isle. The menu consists of two types: a regular menu and an all-items 550 yen menu. The all-items 550 yen menu is categorized into cold dishes, fried dishes, seafood, meat, vegetables, and dim sum, with a total of 75 items. The taste is overall average, not authentic Chinese but more like casual Chinese food. The service is also average. The dishes are served quickly, and the turnover of plates is speedy. Spicy Stir-Fried Beef Honeycomb Tripe - ¥1,298 Beef slices and honeycomb tripe mixed with cucumber and tossed in "secret spicy oil" from the main store. A dish with a nice contrast in textures between the tripe and cucumber. Pan-Fried Dumplings (6 pieces) - ¥550 Crispy on the outside, chewy skin with juicy filling. Shrimp Dumplings (4 pieces) - ¥550 Shrimp-filled dumplings with a strong shrimp flavor. Shumai (4 pieces) - ¥550 Shumai filled with flavorful pork, but a bit fragile. Stir-Fried Oysters and Chives in Oyster Sauce - ¥550 A dish with a hint of oyster flavor. Shrimp and Asparagus Stir-Fried with Black Bean Sauce - ¥550 Shrimp, asparagus, and carrots stir-fried with black bean sauce. A delicious dish with a good balance of saltiness. Shrimp in Chili Sauce - ¥550 Thickened with starch, strong ketchup-like flavor. Stir-Fried Beef and Garlic Sprouts - ¥550 Thinly sliced beef, garlic sprouts, bamboo shoots, onions, carrots in a flavorful sauce. A dish that goes well with rice or beer. Stir-Fried Green Beans with Mustard - ¥550 Green beans stir-fried with minced meat in a spicy sauce. Different from dry-fried green beans. Mapo Tofu - ¥550 A mild version of Sichuan-style mapo tofu, more like casual Chinese style. Clay Pot Rice (Seafood) - ¥880 A dish of soft rice in a warm clay pot topped with a salty seafood sauce. Seafood includes shrimp, scallops, and squid. Vegetables include napa cabbage, bamboo shoots, asparagus, broccoli, shiitake mushrooms, bell peppers, enoki mushrooms. Despite the title ratio of seafood to vegetables being 2:8, the balance is disappointing. There may be some hits and misses on the menu, but if you get lucky, you can enjoy a satisfying meal. However, considering the challenge of offering 550 yen dishes in this location, I hope they keep up the good work.
