I went in for lunch on a holiday. My elementary school son and my family of three went in, and we were able to relax as there were table seats available. I was worried that it might be hectic because it's close to the station, but we were able to eat at our own pace. Chinese food is already cost-effective, but we were satisfied with the portion size and taste. It may have been just by chance, but there were also people from nearby restaurants as customers, enjoying their meals. When I go to Nakano, I often debate between Chinese food and soup curry, but I think I'd be willing to go back again.

I still haven't found a go-to Chinese restaurant in Nakano, so I tried this place this time. As a result, the shrimp and vegetable stir-fry lettuce wraps and the bang bang ji became a must-order for me. The lettuce wraps were absolutely delicious and fantastic. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Saturday, 37 degrees Celsius scorching heat. Entered the restaurant at 12:26, with one group of four customers. I ordered the Chinese rice bowl for ¥900 (excluding tax), while the others ordered the mixed vegetable dish set for ¥850. The dishes included cabbage, wood ear mushrooms, Chinese broccoli, carrots, shrimp, squid, and bamboo shoots. Both the Chinese rice bowl and mixed vegetable dish came with Chinese soup. The mixed vegetable dish set also included a salad and almond jelly for ¥850, which was a good deal. The restroom was a squat toilet, which was uncomfortable to use due to the bent legs. The staff did not accommodate our request for a combined bill and we had to pay separately. Overall, the value for money was not great due to the squat toilet and payment conditions. Disappointing.

When it comes to Nakano, it's all about Sanplaza! And when you think of Sanplaza, you think of Nakano. So, I was wondering what to have for lunch and decided to search for Nakano lunch options on YouTube. But oh my goodness, there are just too many choices! I couldn't make up my mind! So, I ended up choosing a Taiwanese yakisoba set based on its appearance, portion size, and cost. It was a great deal at 850 yen, and the portion size was huge! The taste was also pretty good.

I knew about this restaurant that has been around for a long time, but I had never actually been there. I was struggling with what to eat for lunch, but I decided to take the plunge and go in. I chose the beef belly stew set meal for 950 yen from the weekly lunch menu. The service at the Chinese restaurant was really quick, and the food was piping hot. The beef belly meat was tender and delicious.

The cost performance is great, and everything you eat is delicious! The portions are generous and satisfying. I have been here before and recently stumbled upon it while passing by. The lunch menu is extensive, and this time I ordered the fried noodles set meal! The noodles had a good volume and were seasoned like Shanghai fried noodles. As a side dish, I also had fried rice! Very satisfied.

On a Saturday evening around 7 PM, we visited the restaurant without a reservation, just the two of us. The place was almost full but we were able to get a table without waiting. We ordered:
- Shrimp in chili sauce for 1,100 yen
- Lettuce wraps with shrimp, stir-fried vegetables, and shiitake mushrooms for 990 yen
- Shrimp fried rice for 990 yen
- Singapore-style fried vermicelli noodles with beef for 825 yen
The total came to 3,905 yen, which we paid with PayPay. Without realizing it, we ended up ordering a lot of shrimp dishes and enjoyed the free Taiwanese spice Ma Gao on the side for added flavor. The prices were reasonable, and overall, it felt like a cozy Taiwanese restaurant in town. We finished our meals without getting tired of the flavors. The restaurant has a rating of 3.45 on Tabelog as of May 2023.

During a break in my errands in Nakano, I found a lunch spot by heading north on Sun Road from the north exit of the station and turning right into a side street. It was called "Ajio Nakano." Come to think of it, there's a shop with the same name near the southeast exit of Shinjuku Station. Are they affiliated? As far as I know, the Shinjuku shop is only open at night. But here, just one station away, you can have lunch. The restaurant was crowded, and a handsome waiter asked me to share a large table. We sat at a table near the entrance, with the door open letting in the chilly air from outside. The lunch menu consisted of 6 regular items and 6 weekly specials. I ordered the weekly special, which was stir-fried squid and vegetables, a dish not often seen on menus. After about a 15-minute wait, the dish arrived. The main dish prominently featured black wood ear mushrooms, while the other colors were vibrant. The squid was on the smaller side and not very plentiful. What stood out was the use of peanuts instead of cashews. The accompanying soup had a soy sauce base rather than a Chinese-style broth, giving the dish a more Japanese flavor profile.

It had been a while since the last time we had a meal with all six of us. It was also a long time since we had Chinese food at a round table. The course included shark fin soup, and we were all full by the end. The dishes came out quickly, and we ended the meal with fried rice and drinks. Even though we were full, there was a slightly rushed feeling. However, the staff was relatively flexible with the timing. Since not many people were drinking, maybe they didn't need to offer all-you-can-drink options.

Saturday at the beginning of Golden Week. I was wandering around Nakano area. I explored around Sanmall, which spreads from the north exit. Among the countless dining options, I decided to go for a Chinese restaurant today. As soon as I entered, I could smell the delicious aroma. I ordered the popular dishes, "Eight Treasures" and "Kushikatsu". Since it was advertised as Taiwanese cuisine, I wondered if it would be authentic. After a while, the dishes arrived. The portions were generous, perfect for a hungry stomach like mine. The Kushikatsu was a classic but tasted exceptional. The Eight Treasures had a good balance of ingredients, and the bamboo shoots were crunchy and tasty. The seasoning was top-notch, even compared to other Chinese restaurants I've tried. As expected from a place called "Taste King", I left thinking "I want to come back again". It was a delightful lunch. Thank you for the meal.

Fried tofu in spicy sauce is the best! There is a Taiwanese restaurant near the north exit of Nakano Station that has been around for a long time, so it seems like a well-established place. They have a lot of lunch sets and meals, but my favorite is the "fried tofu in spicy sauce." It's not available every day, it's a whim menu item (lol). I think it's because the fried tofu is handmade and takes time. In addition to fried tofu, there are also pork, bamboo shoots, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, and other vegetables. The spicy sauce has just the right amount of heat, and the fried tofu, which is well coated with the sauce, tastes like meat, making it very appetizing with rice. Thank you for the delicious meal!

After climbing the mountain, I got off at Nakano and didn't feel like walking too much, so I wandered around looking for a nearby restaurant. I was in the mood for Chinese food, but couldn't find any. When I passed by a place that smelled good next to Ajiman, I was tempted to go in. There weren't many customers inside, so I thought maybe I made a mistake and should have tried harder to find a Chinese restaurant. But once I tasted the food, everything changed. It was definitely the right choice to come in! Even though it was labeled as Taiwanese cuisine, I wasn't expecting much from the mapo tofu, but it turned out to be like Sichuan mapo tofu with a spicy kick of sansho pepper. It was delicious! The spring rolls were also among the best I've ever had. The fried rice was light and fluffy, with just the right amount of oil. I definitely want to come back to this place next time I'm in Nakano. Thank you for the meal!

Chao San Xian for 950 yen at Ajio Nakano store, a Taiwanese restaurant located a 3-minute walk from Nakano Station North Exit in Tokyo. The lunch menu used to offer great value for money, but prices have gone up slightly since last year. I arrived just before 2 pm and the restaurant was about 80% full. I occasionally visit this place a few times a year, and this time I decided to try the Chao San Xian for the first time during lunch. The dish arrived on a tray less than 10 minutes after ordering, consisting of the main dish, rice, soup, daikon salad, zha cai, and almond jelly for dessert. The main ingredients included shrimp, squid, pork, bamboo shoots, bell peppers, carrots, and wood ear mushrooms. Compared to the Eight Treasure Vegetables I had before, there was a similar amount of shrimp, squid, and pork, but fewer types of vegetables. Despite the 100 yen price increase compared to the Eight Treasure Vegetables, the consistent and delicious flavor made it worth it. Overall, it was a satisfying meal!

Hello. I am the self-proclaimed Curry King. I took Kikirara-chan to a Taiwanese restaurant called "Ajio" in Nakano, where I had been curious about the menu for a while. Although Kikirara-chan is not a curry fanatic, she is one of the few ladies who understand my abnormal obsession with curry. She also happens to be one of the few ladies who always compliments my sexy and deep voice. Well, of course I know you like me. I don't need to hear it from you every time. After the meal, I will escort you to the accommodation quickly.
One of the intriguing menu items was the South Indian-style yakisoba. What exactly is South Indian-style yakisoba? In Nepal and India, yakisoba is called Chow Mein, but since it is specifically labeled as South Indian-style, there must be some meaning behind it. Moreover, this is a Taiwanese restaurant. What could their South Indian-style yakisoba be like? And so, it was served with a shocking statement from the staff. The staff said, "It's Napolitan!" I was shocked. Napolitan? The menu name is a completely new serving technique. Do they write South Indian fried noodles and read it as Napolitan at Taiwanese restaurants? Anyway, when I tried it, it was indeed a new sensation Napolitan with soft Chinese noodles and a hint of spiciness. It was somewhat similar to Chow Mein but leaning more towards Napolitan. Is this what they mean by South Indian-style...? Hmm, it's frustrating but... the taste is good.
Next, there was the coconut curry-flavored shrimp. Today, Kikirara-chan was once again complimenting my voice. She would praise my voice, peel the shrimp shells by hand, and then praise my voice again. While carefully licking the coconut curry on her fingers with moist eyes, she would gaze at me. A faint "Picha♡" sound would escape her lips. I can't hold back anymore. I'll let you hear it in your ear. My true sexy voice, unleashed by desire, will echo in the accommodation... 15 minutes later. (Ah, that also happened.) I'm writing this on the train ride back, reminiscing about the experience.

I had asked for water a few times, so they kindly brought a carafe of water to our table, which was nice.
As closing time approached, I noticed a neighboring table where someone had started to doze off while eating almond jelly.
The homey atmosphere was nice and I enjoyed it.

I decided to choose today's lunch while taking a leisurely stroll, but it was not easy to find something that really caught my eye in the Nakano Basue area. I was intrigued by the weekly lunch specials displayed outside, so I decided to try the Taiwanese restaurant "Wei Wang." Oh, it seems that this place has quite high ratings on Tabelog, so my expectations are slightly raised. The staff and the store itself have a casual feel, almost like being in a street food village. Oh no, the server touched the salad with bare hands! And the food, hmm, it's quite sweet and not spicy at all. It's delicious, but not quite what I was expecting. The "Gan Ai Chicken" - chicken bones and onions stir-fried with mustard - costs 850 yen, but I might come back again because the chef in the kitchen seemed like a wonderful craftsman!

I came across a restaurant that brought back memories of my college days, where I first tried the combination of century egg and Shaoxing wine. It had been a long time, so I decided to go in and try their evening set for 1,180 yen (excluding tax). The set included a combination of century egg, pork tongue, pickled mustard greens, and chicken breast, along with a choice of beer or Shaoxing wine. The menu had a variety of dishes, and the portion seemed decent, so it would be fun to come with a group of people. However, I noticed some dishes suited for solo drinkers, and there were also some solo customers, which was rare for a Chinese restaurant. Chinese cuisine tends to be served in large portions, making it less suitable for solo dining. I'll definitely come back if it's not too crowded.

At the Nakano branch of Ajio, located a 3-minute walk from Nakano station north exit, I had the Eight Treasure Stir-Fry for 850 yen. This Taiwanese restaurant has been around since my student days and has always offered great value for lunch. However, when I visited today, I noticed that the prices had increased by 100 yen since my last visit. I arrived at 1:30 pm and the restaurant was about 80% full. Upon entering, the staff at the entrance reminded me to disinfect my hands with alcohol. I visit this restaurant a few times a year, but today I decided to try something other than the fried noodle set for lunch. In less than 10 minutes after ordering, my tray arrived with the Eight Treasure Stir-Fry, rice, soup, daikon salad, pickled vegetables, and almond jelly. The stir-fry included shrimp, squid, pork, cabbage, bamboo shoots, green peppers, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, and button mushrooms, all cooked in the classic flavorful style. The portion of rice was generous and I left the restaurant feeling satisfied and full. Another delicious meal at Ajio! Bon appétit!

It is about a 4-minute walk from Nakano Station North Exit. It is an old shop along the Fureai Road with a red lantern and brick-like exterior. I entered around 12:00 on Saturday and about 80% of the seats were taken, but I managed to find a seat at a round table. It's a lazy Susan type of table, which is pretty cool (lol). This restaurant has a wide variety of menu items, with over 100 to choose from. Some items are written in kanji that I can't read, so it was a bit difficult to decide what to order. It's helpful that all items have photos though. This time, I ordered "homemade tofu," "mixed vegetables," "oyster sauce beef," "mapo eggplant," etc. I can't remember the prices, but don't forget to order a draft beer (lol). I've been here a few times, and I always order the "homemade tofu" and "oyster sauce beef" (I still don't know how to pronounce them). The "homemade tofu" is fried tofu stir-fried in a spicy sauce, which goes well with rice. You can adjust the spiciness to some extent, but it's not too spicy as it is. The spiciness enhances the flavor and sweetness of the vegetables and tofu, making it delicious. It goes perfectly with beer. The "oyster sauce beef" is beef and vegetables stir-fried in oyster sauce, also a dish that goes well with rice. It's a bit thin, but it has large pieces of beef that give it a satisfying texture. Again, it pairs perfectly with beer (lol). You can pay with QR code at the end, and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. I will definitely go back. Thank you for the meal.

I met up with an acquaintance in Nakano to have a meal. We met at 2 pm in front of the KFC at the north exit and then headed into the food and drink district. Nakano was bustling with people on the holiday, and there were so many restaurants to choose from that it was hard to decide where to eat. We came across a Taiwanese restaurant called "Ajio" and decided to go in. Inside, there were middle-aged men having a party at a round table. We ordered some beer and made a toast. Looking at the menu on the table, there were many delicious dishes available. We ordered mapo tofu, pork and green pepper stir-fry, spring rolls, and fried vermicelli. The mapo tofu had a nice balance of sweet and spicy flavors, the pork and green pepper stir-fry was juicy with a crunchy texture, the spring rolls were crispy and well-seasoned, and the fried vermicelli had a nice chewy texture with crunchy vegetables. After the beer, we tried some Taiwanese aged Shaoxing wine, which was made more palatable by adding ginger. It was a delicious meal.
