This was my first time on a chartered lunch cruise on a houseboat, and the tempura just kept coming. It was so delicious...yum yum. I used to think houseboats were hot and stuffy with no windows, but this one had air conditioning and was very comfortable. Since we had the boat to ourselves, we were able to sing karaoke and go outside, which was a lot of fun. The only downside was that the karaoke machine seemed a bit old and had limited new songs. Overall, the food was excellent and I was very satisfied.

I had delicious tempura in a beautiful tatami room while enjoying the night view. It was great to be able to go up to the deck and see Tokyo's night view from a place I don't usually get to see. The boat I boarded was called Benkei and it had tables.

Last day of a 10-day holiday. I was invited to a anniversary party at a snack bar in Meguro that I usually frequent, and experienced my first Yakatabune (traditional Japanese houseboat) ride. It was located at "Yakatabune Shinagawa Funaki" about a 10-minute walk from Shinagawa Station. We cruised from Shinagawa to Odaiba, passing through the Sumida River heading north. We went up to the Eitai Bridge near the Skytree, then back to Shinagawa on the "Odaiba-Skytree course." The whole trip took 2 hours and 30 minutes. The course cost ¥12,000 with all-you-can-drink included, featuring tempura as the main dish. The menu included: - First Course: Cauliflower mousse with wasabi sauce - Cold Dish: Cooled winter melon with corn topping - Assorted Appetizers: Octopus simmered in soy sauce, scented cheese-coated fried pumpkin, truffle miso pumpkin castella, and assorted summer vegetables - Sashimi: Tuna, amberjack, seared squid, and shrimp - Fresh Tempura: Shrimp, conger eel, seasonal fish, and vegetables - Main Course: Five-flavor sushi - Closing Noodles - Dessert The tempura was freshly fried on the boat, so the batter was crispy and delicious. The drink selection for the all-you-can-drink option was also quite extensive. Enjoying the amazing night view while savoring the exceptional cuisine on the Yakatabune was truly a delightful experience. I'm hooked! Completely satisfied. Thank you for the feast! (^人^)

The restaurant must have also faced difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic. About 30% of the passengers seemed to be foreign tourists, indicating a return in inbound tourism. The cruise started with a greeting from the hostess, and the ship slowly began to move. The meal included a variety of dishes such as appetizers, sashimi, tempura, steak, cold noodles, rice, and dessert. You can also enjoy the view from the deck during the 2.5-hour cruise. The price is around 15,000 yen, but the delicious food and the unique experience make it worth it. This summer, there is no better adult activity than this.

I took a ride on a yakatabune boat for the first time in years. Fune Kiyoshi in Shinagawa was completely different from the ones I had been on before! The boarding area was well-maintained and pleasant while waiting to board. The boat itself was very clean, spacious, and not at all cramped. The air conditioning made it very comfortable! The boat I rode on this time, the "Shizuka Gozen," had chair and table seating so my legs didn't hurt at all! There are other boats with sunken kotatsu seating as well. The food was satisfying with a proper kaiseki course, unlike the dry sashimi and endless tempura of past yakatabune experiences. Not only can you enjoy the food, but also the atmosphere of a boat trip and the night view of Tokyo, making it a great choice for entertaining important clients. I think it would also be well-received by foreign guests and a good option for celebrating family milestones!

The view of the city from the houseboat is beautiful ✨️ On a sunny day, you can go up on the boat and enjoy the night view, with sights like the Skytree and Rainbow Bridge looking stunning. It's recommended for special occasions! However, there are other tour groups on board, so it may not be ideal for those seeking a quiet dinner. ^^ The meal was a course menu, and the tempura was especially delicious.

Utilized for a social gathering with colleagues at work. Despite the post-COVID situation, the place was fully booked and lively. The hostess's talk before departure set a great party mood, perfect for those who enjoy such atmospheres. The food, especially the tempura, was delicious as expected. The service for ordering drinks was quick and stress-free. The view of the sea from the seaside area added to the luxurious feel of the experience. I believe it offers great value for the price.

After a business meeting in Tokyo today, I had the opportunity to experience Funakiyo-san's boat stall, which also served as a social gathering. From Shinagawa to Odaiba, Rainbow Bridge, and Skytree, we enjoyed freshly fried delicious tempura and other dishes while admiring the night view of Tokyo Bay and Sumida River. After anchoring at the famous Odaiba in Tokyo Bay, we sailed up the Sumida River, passing by Rainbow Bridge and Skytree, and enjoyed a meal while taking in the night view. The night view, sparkling brightly in the refreshing breeze mixed with the sea air, filled us with an extraordinary sense of excitement. We happily enjoyed the famous freshly fried tempura in a lively atmosphere. The course meal was decent, but the night view of the famous spots from the boat was the best spice. The whole experience lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes, starting from Shinagawa to Odaiba, Sumida River, Eitai Bridge, Rainbow Bridge & Skytree, and back to Shinagawa on the boat. The cost, including all-you-can-drink, was 14,800 yen, and the menu included grilled eggplant, sea urchin with grated yam, potato, assorted sashimi with bluefin tuna, amberjack, squid, and scallop, freshly fried tempura with shrimp, conger eel, and seasonal vegetables, seasonal mixed sushi, noodles for the final course, dessert, and other drinks.

Two years ago, when I first rode on a yakatabune boat, I was a bit reserved due to the ongoing pandemic. But this time, the party was quite lively and fun! We were having so much fun that we forgot to take pictures of some of the delicious food. Overall, everything was tasty. The tempura was always crispy and freshly fried! Thank you for the feast!

I visited the same houseboat for the first time as part of a city walking tour plan. I didn't have high expectations since it was included in the plan, but the sashimi, appetizers, and other dishes were well-prepared and delicious. On this day, there was a special menu collaboration between Yohoen and Funaki, which added a special touch, but even without that, Funaki's tempura was really tasty. Apart from the food, the landlady of the same restaurant who guided us around Tokyo Bay throughout the tour was elegant in her kimono attire and had excellent communication skills. Her way of speaking was very professional. In her conversation, she mentioned the hardships the houseboat faced during the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak, when they were criticized by the media every day for causing infections. Despite the difficulties, the landlady exuded a calm and composed demeanor, which was truly captivating. The interior of the boat was not the traditional tatami style I was familiar with, but a more comfortable seating arrangement with chairs to reduce the strain on customers. I could feel the innovative approach to capturing the essence of the houseboat era, and it was a very satisfying experience. If you're thinking of taking a houseboat ride, why not consider Funaki as a first choice?

I rode on a houseboat for the first time. Departing from Tennozu Isle and cruising around Odaiba Seaside Park, I enjoyed freshly fried tempura, sashimi, hot pot dishes, mixed rice, and more while taking in the view from the houseboat. It's a unique dining experience that is typical of Tokyo. I highly recommend it to those who have never tried it before.

I challenged myself to a houseboat cruise with business colleagues from different industries. The houseboat was bigger than I expected, able to accommodate over 100 people. The tempura dishes served were delicious, and it was nice to have a drink-all-you-can option for around 11,000 yen per person. Despite it being winter, it wasn't too cold on the terrace when the wind was favorable. We cruised from the Sumida River to Odaiba and around Tokyo Bay, and overall, it was a very satisfying experience.

The staff on the boat were very kind. The inside of the boat was cleaner than I had imagined, and I was able to relax. The toilets were clean and comfortable. The food was delicious, especially the conger eel tempura. They also arranged a taxi for us after we disembarked, which was very helpful. I hope to visit again during cherry blossom season.

The seats were relaxed and there were only 6 groups. The place was clean and the toilet was beautiful. Be careful not to drink too much as the boat sways. There are times when the boat stops, and during those times you can go out on the deck. Since there aren't many people, there is a sense of privacy. I would like to go again.

This day was the perfect day for a yakatabune cruise, with clear skies and a pleasant breeze on the night of the harvest moon. When the large full moon appeared over the sea, everyone cheered. Although I couldn't capture the beauty of the full moon on my iPhone, the view of the Skytree, Rainbow Bridge, and Odaiba's night scenery together with the moon from the deck of the boat, in a slightly tipsy state, was amazing. The tempura meal was delicious, with each piece served freshly fried. I look forward to visiting again during the cherry blossom season in spring.

I usually don't use this type of yakatabune (houseboat), but this time I was invited for work. The price was 11,000 yen per person. Since my workplace is in Kitashinagawa, the boat dock is about a 10-minute walk away, which is quite close. Near the dock, there is a nice waiting area where you give your name and wait until departure. The boat's course is from the dock to Tokyo Bay, Sumida River, and around Skytree, with a stop for a while. After waiting for about 15 minutes, we were guided onto the boat. The boat is quite large, with tatami and hori-gotatsu seating for about two rows, able to accommodate many people. The seating is divided by screens into groups or individual customers. Appetizers were already placed on the tables so we could eat once we set sail. It was a free-flowing drink course, so we first ordered lemon sours and made a toast once everyone's drinks were ready. And off we went on the cruise! We passed under various bridges and saw Tokyo from angles not usually seen, which was very interesting! The appetizers included sashimi and vinegared dishes, quite luxurious. After a few dishes, freshly fried tempura was served! One of the best things about yakatabune is being able to eat freshly fried tempura! I was so busy with work that I don't remember the tempura well, but it was all delicious. After one serving of tempura, a delicious rice dish was served, followed by matcha soba for dessert. The atmosphere on the boat was great, and overall, it was a really enjoyable experience! I'm thinking of trying a slightly more expensive course next time.

We made a reservation for 5 people on the first day of Golden Week. Unfortunately, it was raining on the day of our visit. We couldn't control the weather, but it was disappointing. The food was delicious, especially the tempura which was freshly fried! The price was 10,000 yen including all-you-can-drink, but it was much more satisfying than going to an overly expensive restaurant. I think even older people would enjoy it, so I want to come back with my parents-in-law on a sunny day.

A friend made a reservation for a yakatabune (traditional Japanese boat). It was said to be the best among the several places we have visited before. There were a few groups who chartered the whole boat, but we shared it with other passengers. The staff on board were handsome even with masks on. The course included all-you-can-drink and the friend brought in some sake. We started with Kirin beer for a toast, followed by appetizers and sashimi. The fatty tuna was delicious. We also enjoyed tempura that was freshly fried on board. Unfortunately, there was no wine cooler on the table to chill the sake. The boat also served chirashi sushi and pickles for the meal, and cold noodles in broth for the finish. The course took us around 3 hours, passing by landmarks like the Skytree and Rainbow Bridge. It was a luxurious and relaxing experience.

I enjoyed delicious tempura on a houseboat!! The restaurant has proper infection control measures in place and the crew members are efficient! It was nice to be on the water instead of on land, and even though we drank too much and mixed our drinks with soda like the members of Ostrich Club, it was still satisfying. Thank you for the feast!!

Tatami mats, tempura, karaoke... The classic yakatabune boat experience is located near Kitashinagawa Station. Coming from Shinagawa, you pass through Konan-guchi and go further ahead, quite a distance. As you get closer, you'll see a quaint and elegant boarding area that resembles a traditional inn. The illuminated view of multiple boats lined up creates a charming atmosphere. The proprietress, dressed impeccably in a kimono, greets you warmly upon arrival and bids you farewell on departure. Inside the boat, there are tatami mat seating and sunken hearths. The meal, including tempura, is a traditional Japanese course with freshly fried tempura as the main dish. The ambiance of the yakatabune boat, along with the delicious food, makes the experience enjoyable. When docked in Odaiba, you can enjoy karaoke on the rooftop deck while admiring the night view. Yakatabune Funakiyoshi is a great place to experience the classic yakatabune boat ride, and it's worth visiting at least once a year. 4.0 Excellent ★★★★★... Would love to come back regularly.
