I went to eat the famous beef tendon fried rice at Yanagawa in Akihabara, but they told me they only have it on certain days, not today. I was disappointed. I regret not checking properly if it's available before going. Ended up having the daily special set meal instead. It wasn't particularly tasty and too greasy. Sad lunch experience.

The restaurant is called "Gansen". My lunchbox broke so I decided to eat out. I had some business in Akihabara, so I searched on Tabelog for a fried rice place. There were a few options, but I chose this one. I ordered the beef tendon fried rice, which was different from the usual fried rice but seemed to have a lot of volume. It was a cloudy day with intermittent rain. It was humid but better than scorching sun. When I arrived at the restaurant, the exit was marked as entrance only, so I had to enter from the front and go downstairs. It was after 12:30 pm but the place was full. However, the turnover was quick and I got a seat right away. They provided wet towels. It was an 8-person table, and there was also a round table in the back. The atmosphere was lively and bustling. It felt a bit Chinese? There seemed to be more non-Japanese staff. The menu had a variety of options. I ordered the lunch set which was a good deal. The lunch portion on the table next to me was quite generous, even though it was a half-size fried rice. The ramen was a regular size. The dishes arrived shortly. I started with the fried rice, then the ramen. The fried rice had a unique flavor with a thick sauce and beef tendon. It overshadowed the fried rice. The ramen was very ordinary. The bean sprouts were crunchy. I finished everything quickly. The taste didn't leave much of an impression, but the vibrant atmosphere of the restaurant was memorable.

Visited for the first time around 11:10 am on September 20, 2023. I was looking for delicious fried rice in Akihabara, and this place came up on YouTube, so I decided to check it out. Surprisingly, there were quite a few customers for a weekday morning. The famous beef tendon fried rice seems to be limited to weekends and holidays, so I ordered the ramen and fried rice set for 900 yen. Many other customers seemed to be ordering the pork ginger stir-fried rice. The fried rice came out first, and it was packed with chunks of pork, making it worth 900 yen even as a standalone dish. The ramen that followed had a brown soup that was almost mistaken for miso. The taste was simple but satisfying. The set for 900 yen is too cheap, but it seems like it's featured on a TV show called "Omoimai Ten." I bet it gets crowded on weekends.

I ordered the beef tongue and green onion salt fried rice. The place was bustling, and I found out it was being reported on TV. The beef tongue fried rice came with soup, and it was very delicious. Even the rice alone had a strong flavor, making me want to eat it again. The price was also reasonable and good.

Beef tendon ankake fried rice in large portion for 1100 yen. Arrived before 6 pm and entered without waiting in line. The restaurant was full, possibly due to the influence of television, with a higher proportion of high school students, women, and couples than before. The dish arrived in just 5 minutes, maintaining the usual speed of service which was pleasing. When leaving the restaurant, there was a line forming on the stairs, so whether you have to wait or not depends on the timing.

I was told about this place by a friend. They are famous for their "Beef Tendon Fried Rice". You can only order the beef tendon fried rice on weekends, holidays, the 1st and 3rd Thursdays, and the last Friday of the month, so be aware of that. So, I ordered the regular size beef tendon fried rice (900 yen). The rice has a rich flavor that makes you want to keep eating more. During lunchtime, you will have to share a table with others, so it's not a place to eat slowly. Remember to vacate your seat as soon as you finish eating. Cost: 900 yen Rating: 3 stars 5 stars: Definitely want to visit again!! 4 stars: Would like to visit again if I have the chance! 3 stars: Would consider revisiting. 2 stars: Once is enough. 1 star: No need to go.

I visited on a Thursday and chose the Beef Tendon Fried Rice. It cost 900 yen. The toppings included soup, beef tendon, and a soft-boiled egg. The fried rice had a generous portion and the creamy beef tendon topping complemented the dish well. The fried rice was a golden color from the egg and was very delicious.

I went to this restaurant because it was featured on "Exciting Friday" last week. Unfortunately, they were not serving beef tendon fried rice today... I had pork ginger fried rice, grilled dumplings, two bottles of beer, and almond jelly. It was very delicious. I definitely want to go next time on a day when they are selling beef tendon fried rice.

We shared the Beef Tendon Fried Rice and Beef Tongue Fried Rice between two people. Personally, I found the Beef Tendon one more delicious. The Beef Tendon was perfectly tender and cooked in oyster sauce which added a nice depth of flavor. The sweetness was just right, not overpowering, and the saltiness was balanced. The fried rice was simple with just egg and green onions, lightly seasoned with salt. The egg and green onions were evenly mixed in, and the rice wasn't greasy or clumpy. Most people seemed to prefer the Beef Tendon Fried Rice, and I can see why. The Beef Tongue was also tasty but slightly tough and made my jaw a bit tired. It was seasoned with salt, spices, and lemon, which was alright. The almond jelly dessert looked delicious, but we were too full to try it. If we go back, I would definitely want to try the almond jelly. Thank you for the meal.

I tried the beef tendon fried rice and the beef tendon yakisoba that was introduced on Omo Uma and that I wanted to go to. Both dishes had tender and delicious beef tendons. The yakisoba had Sichuan pepper salt and chili oil in it, making it slightly spicier than the fried rice sauce. However, even though I don't like spicy food, I was able to eat it without any problems! The restaurant had two round tables and four tables for four people. It's a system where sharing tables with strangers is common, so even if you go as a pair, you sit facing each other. Because of this, the turnover rate is good!

I had the beef tendon fried rice! It was a typical Chinese restaurant dish, but what set it apart was the rich flavor that soaked into my body! The tender beef tendon mixed with the fried rice provided a great texture and made it easy to keep eating. It was delicious. I wonder what I should try next time. There were plenty of menu options to choose from. The restaurant isn't small, but it's set up for sharing tables, so it might bother some people.

On Saturdays around 1pm, there is a line of about 5 people. It takes about 10 minutes to be seated. I ordered the beef tongue, salt and green onion fried rice in large size for 1100 yen. It came with 240 grams of beef tongue, which was a generous serving. My jaw got tired, but it was delicious.

Featured on Zawatsuku, I suddenly remembered that I had bookmarked it and felt a strong desire to eat there. So, I decided to visit on Saturday! I arrived 20 minutes before opening and there was already one person waiting. By the time the shop opened, there were around 15 people lined up, maybe even more. It felt like a different vibe from Akihabara, with customers influenced by the media. When the shop opened, everyone rushed in. The staff were busy clearing tables, so ordering was a bit chaotic. I, along with other customers, felt a bit frustrated. However, I patiently ordered the beef tendon fried rice. The fried rice came out almost in order, contrary to my doubts. As for the dish, it had plenty of beef tendon, but I wondered if it really needed to be fried rice. It could have been more like a beef tendon bowl. Nevertheless, it was delicious. The beef tongue and leek salt fried rice that the guy in front of me ordered looked even more appetizing. There are other menu items I'm curious about, so I'd like to come back when it's less crowded. Thank you for the meal!

It was quite crowded when I went at 12:30 on Saturday. I had to share a table but was seated right away, luckily before it got fully packed. I was there for the beef tendon fried rice! I ordered the ramen lunch set. It took over 10 minutes to arrive due to the crowd. I thought it would be a half portion, but it was a full serving! And it came with almond jelly, all for just 1000 yen, which is amazing. I started with the beef tendon fried rice. It had a rich sauce with plenty of tender beef tendon, each bite was satisfying! Delicious! The fried rice had a good balance of pepper with a mild saltiness. As for the ramen, I thought it was soy sauce-based but it was slightly cloudy with a mellow flavor. Maybe it's tonkotsu soy sauce? It was also delicious. The noodles were a bit nostalgic, medium thickness, and the thick-cut pork chashu had a nice texture. I was also happy that the almond jelly was actually tasty, as many Chinese restaurants' lunch set almond jellies can be disappointing. Despite the crowded and noisy atmosphere, it wasn't too uncomfortable. I would like to visit again if I have the chance!

Thursday. Reliable beef tongue‼️ On the first and third Thursdays, it's the day for beef offal with sauce, so everyone except me ordered the offal fried rice. I have visited this place many times, but I always go for the beef tongue. I'm a loyal customer. The restaurant opens at 11 o'clock, but there's already a line by 11:30. The turnover is fast so it's not too stressful, but you can't avoid sharing a table. When sharing a table, it's more common to sit next to each other rather than facing each other. The beef tongue menu is not listed in the restaurant, so if you're a regular, please try ordering it. Thank you for the meal.

Another destination of my Tokyo expedition was here. I saw it on a certain TV show and just had to go. Gansen in Akihabara (@gansen0141). I really wanted to try their fried rice. I had been aiming to eat here every time I went on an expedition. This day, they had a limited edition beef tendon fried rice available! I had to try it!! The fried rice was delicious, but the sauce was really amazing. It had a not too strong flavor and the viscosity was just right, smooth and tasty. You could taste the richness of the beef tendon, and the egg added a nice flavor. It's a flavor that makes you want to feed it to your kids. I want to eat it again. A long-standing establishment right in the middle of Akihabara. I really recommend going here. I had some free time for lunch so I stopped by this restaurant nearby again. This time I tried the tsukemen with meat. It had a lot of vegetables and meat, making it very satisfying. The bowl was filled with so much meat and vegetables that the noodles were almost hidden (lol). I added a bit more chili oil and it tasted great. It seemed like the menu was more popular among men. It was a refreshing meal.

I had been thinking about going to this popular restaurant for a while, but I don't particularly like ankake (thick starchy sauce) and I don't usually choose dishes with ankake. Putting ankake on fried rice just doesn't appeal to me, so I never felt compelled to go. I arrived at 11:05 AM on Saturday. I wondered if there would be a line, but I was seated right away. About 80% of the tables were occupied. Most customers were ordering fried rice, with about 70-80% choosing the beef tendon fried rice. There is no counter, so solo diners end up sharing a table with strangers. I don't mind, but it felt a bit uncomfortable to eat facing someone I didn't know, especially without a divider. It didn't used to bother me, but maybe my perception has changed in recent years. I ordered the large size beef tendon fried rice, but when it arrived, I was surprised by how small it looked. First, I tried the fried rice on its own. It was bland, probably because it's not seasoned much to accommodate the ankake sauce. It doesn't stand out on its own. Now, the beef tendon ankake. It was as expected, tasty but nothing remarkable, just average. Mixing it with the fried rice didn't make it any more special. Overall, it was just average. Oh well, the power of television is amazing!

I stopped by for lunch in Akihabara while transferring for work. Visited around 1 pm with 2 people. Didn't have to wait to be seated. There were quite a few young people, and looking at the menu, I could see they had hearty options, which made sense. Ordered a ramen and fried rice set. The ramen, which I assumed would be soy sauce based, turned out to be tonkotsu ramen, which was okay. The fried rice was delicious. It was moist and the egg was fluffy. There were various fried rice options, so I'll revisit to try another one.
