On this day, I visited Shinjuku and Nishi-Shinjuku stations for my second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Despite the humid and hot weather after the passing of a typhoon the day before, I used the spare time before my vaccine appointment to visit a ramen shop called "Ebisoba Ichigen" that I had researched in advance. The shop was clean and well-maintained, with a decent number of customers. I ordered the following menu items: - Shrimp Miso Ramen (830 yen): I chose the richness level as moderate and thick noodles. The aroma of shrimp scattered throughout the dish enhanced the flavor. The soup was a combination of rich miso and shrimp powder, creating a rich and crispy texture. The straight thick noodles were chewy and easy to slurp, especially delicious when combined with the rich soup and shrimp powder. The toppings included one slice of chashu and half a flavored egg. - Rice (170 yen): I ordered rice as a side dish to my ramen. I ended up mixing the leftover rice with the remaining soup to create a risotto-like dish, which complemented the soup and shrimp powder well. In the end, I finished every drop of soup and rice. Despite the challenges I faced getting to the restaurant, it was worth it to enjoy the shrimp miso ramen.

After enjoying a delicious churrasco at Niku Rock (2969) on the 3rd floor of a building with a salt and umami flavor, I noticed Ichigen right in front of me. I had to go there. Around 8 pm, there was a wait for 3 people. There are about 13 seats at the counter. There is a bench for waiting in the back, and I was seated in about 10 minutes. It was reliably delicious. The shrimp soba had a rich shrimp flavor, and the taste was enhanced by the tonkotsu base. It was absolutely delicious! ✨

Many people may already be familiar with Ichiran's shrimp ramen. Personally, I have been a fan of shrimp broth since my student days and have been a regular customer. The restaurant has a spacious layout and even though there may be a wait as there are only two staff members serving, I recommend trying it out if you haven't already. If you avoid peak lunch and dinner times, you won't have to wait too long to be seated, which is another bonus point!

I visited the restaurant Ichiran, which I often rely on for frozen shrimp noodles. I tried the menu item in the top left of the ticket machine, which was the thick noodles with salt. I was expecting a rich soup because of the frozen food impression, but I was surprised by the light taste of the salt and the abundant shrimp flavor in the soup. The noodles felt very similar to what I always eat. I thought maybe I'll try the miso next time. I almost finished the soup and noodles. There were a lot of autographs of famous people on the walls, and many young women were customers. The music was trendy, so it didn't feel like a typical ramen shop. There were some customers engrossed in conversation, so I think the turnover might be a bit slow for a ramen shop.

This is a shop located on the left side of a large road along the Memory Lane in Shinjuku. It's a bit of a walk from the station... There is a famous ramen shop from Hokkaido called Ichiran. The interior of the shop is filled with signatures of celebrities. You can take your time looking at the signatures, some of which have the celebrities mistakenly writing "Ichiran" as "Ichiyo". It's easy to confuse "gen" and "yo", right? I ordered the recommended shrimp miso flavor ramen with regular thin noodles. The soup was a blend of shrimp and pork bone broth, and the miso flavor was delicious. The brown powder (?) placed next to the noodles has a fragrant aroma, so it's recommended to gradually dissolve it in the soup and drink it. The pink crispy topping in the middle is... similar to the tempura crumbs on top of instant noodles. It's also delicious. I visited this place twice in the past week because it's so good. It's a shop that makes you want to go back again and again.

Miso Ramen for 900 yen. I remember seeing long lines in the past and decided not to wait. This was my first time here, and it seems to be a popular spot as there were quite a few tourists. I went on a Sunday around 3pm and there was no wait. You can choose between thin or thick noodles, I chose thick which was more like medium thickness. The taste was good, not too spicy. I didn't really like the black oil on the top in the picture, I wonder what kind of oil it is? They only accept cash.

I was born and raised in Sapporo. I have already tried the Susukino branch a long time ago, and even though I lived in Okubo for 15 years, it took me a while to finally visit the branch in Tokyo. Today, I finally had the chance to try their ramen for the first time. I ordered the thick noodles miso ramen for 900 yen, with a large serving for an additional 120 yen. Surprisingly, the portion was not as big as I expected, so even women should be able to finish it. 1. Yes, the miso flavor is just like in Sapporo. This unique Hokkaido miso flavor cannot be found in original mainland Japan miso ramen. No matter how famous a miso ramen place is, it just doesn't compare. 2. True to the restaurant's name, there are small shrimp-like toppings included. The shrimp flavor is also good. It's not overpowering, so even if you just want to enjoy the Sapporo miso flavor, it won't get in the way. 3. As far as miso ramen in Tokyo goes, I would rate it 100 points. If you've had miso ramen in Sapporo, maybe 80 points. There are other delicious restaurants as well. This is the opinion of someone from Sapporo. For those who are not from Hokkaido, you can rest assured. I highly recommend it. 4. Crowdedness: I visited on a Wednesday night around 9:30 PM. There were only seats at the counter available, with 7 seats empty. After that, more people started coming in, and it became full with a few people waiting on chairs at the back. It may be a while before I go back, but when I start craving Sapporo miso, I will definitely return!

I went around 5 pm on a weekday and there were still few customers, so we were seated right away. We ordered the "Moderate Shrimp Miso" and "Delicate Shrimp Miso" for two people. The Delicate Shrimp Miso had a subtle shrimp flavor, while the Moderate Shrimp Miso had a strong shrimp flavor. The taste was just as we had imagined. ☺︎

I arrived at the restaurant around 6 pm on a weekday and was seated immediately. I purchased my meal ticket at the ticket machine near the entrance. The aprons at the back were self-service. The menu offered salt, miso, and soy sauce ramen, with three levels of soup thickness and a choice of thick or thin noodles. There were side dishes like rice balls and dumplings, with options for toppings and extra portions. There was only one ticket machine, so it was quite crowded. I appreciated the English menu. The seating was spacious at the counter, with sofas for waiting at the back. It was a tight seating arrangement. The walls were decorated with many autographs of famous people. I handed in my meal ticket after being seated. I ordered moderately salty ramen with thick noodles and an ebi onigiri. Water was self-service. The soup had a delicious shrimp flavor and was freshly made. The portion size was just right. I took a bite of the onigiri as is and then put it in the soup to make a risotto. Towards the end, I added shrimp oil and pepper for a change in flavor. The table cleanliness was lacking, and the air conditioning was too cold, so I rate it 3.5 stars. It seemed like many people around me were ordering miso ramen, so I plan to try miso or soy sauce next time.

I visited around 8:30 PM on Friday. There were about 4 groups waiting in line. I got seated in about 15 minutes. All seats are at the counter. I ordered the shrimp miso soup as usual. I always intend to try something different, but I can't forget the delicious taste and end up ordering the same thing again... The soup is so flavorful that you can taste the shrimp immediately. The person I went with ordered the miso soup with clams and enjoyed it so much that they finished all the soup as well. No matter how many times I go, I am always impressed by the delicious taste and want to come back again! If you have the chance to visit nearby, please give it a try!

It's been a while since I had Ebiramen at Ichigen, a ramen that feels like it all started here. The shrimp oil spreads in your mouth. You can choose from light to rich flavors, so you can choose according to your preference. It's also nice that you can choose between thick and thin noodles. There are various colored papers displayed, mostly from around 2014, giving a sense of the times. Visited around 2:00 PM on Saturday. There were seats available and no waiting in line. The restaurant was very clean, and there were many solo female customers. I chose the shrimp miso ramen with thick noodles. The smell of shrimp was amazing. The soup was light yet flavorful, and I really enjoyed it. (900 yen)

Located just off Kotaki Bridge Street in Nishi-Shinjuku, this restaurant is where the famous Ebi (shrimp) Ramen originated from Sapporo. I visited on a Saturday night around 9pm and was able to walk in and be seated without any wait, which is unusual as there is usually a line. The interior is clean and resembles a sushi restaurant, with many autographed shikishi (decorative paper) from celebrities on display. There is a long sofa behind the counter where you can wait comfortably even when it's crowded. The soup options include salt, miso, or soy sauce, and you can choose the richness of the pork bone broth (normal, moderate, rich), as well as thick or thin noodles, giving you a total of 18 choices. I usually end up choosing "miso, rich, thick noodles" after much deliberation. The soup is rich and flavorful with the essence of shrimp. Toppings include chashu, seasoned egg, shrimp-flavored tempura bits, shrimp powder, and green onions. Mixing the shrimp powder into the soup enhances the shrimp flavor even more. The noodles are always served piping hot and stay that way until the last bite, which is quite impressive. This bowl is a must-try for shrimp lovers. By the time I finished eating, there were about 10 people waiting on the sofa behind the counter.

I took the new employees of the company for lunch here. I was prepared to wait in line, but surprisingly we didn't have to wait outside due to the heat. We were able to purchase our meal tickets quickly and find seats right away. I added an extra flavored egg, which seemed to come with half an egg by default, so I ended up with one and a half eggs. The soup was hot and delicious, making it easy to finish quickly with a constant loop of "shrimp! Hot! Delicious!" in my head.
